This advice is dildos get some finger ease and a regular sift dishcloth, apply the finger ease like it says on the bottle, then for the body get a soft dishcloth and dont put anything on it just kinda buff your guitar. Voila, clean guitar no lighter fluid and all that other crazy shit he was talking about.
Lighter fluid ? Hmmmm I'm not too sure about that advice. It will remove the gunk from a painted guitar but what about axes made from mahogany or swamp ash or Alder. The 30-sheen lacquer coating could be damaged. I wouldn't use a harsh chemical like lighter fluid on a surface that has been coated with lacquer that may be vulnerable.
Just wipe your axe down after playing with special attention to the fret board. There's a multitude of "Lemon based" fret board cleaners on the market.
Use lighter fluid! It's 100% safe! Use it especially on an ELECTRIC guitar, it will NEVER catch fire because it's an ELECTRIC guitar....Even when you smash your guitar on stage don't worry about the occasional smoke, it's just excited! ....o.o
and apply it to the neck. If the wood is still dull leave it 20 mins to dry then reapply. Be careful not to over saturate the wood, you don't need very much at all. Leave it 20mins to dry properly then fit your new strings. Bingo!! Nice clean neck. If you're going to apply any kind of cleaner to the strings make sure it's a specialised string cleaner, there are loads available. Personally I just change my strings as soon as they start sounding bad. Hope this helps, rock on, mate :)
Don't put oil on your strings. It'll kill them. To clean the neck properly make sure you take the strings off (I do it whenever I'm changing my strings over). It will depend on what type of neck you have as to what you'll have to use. All my guitars have an unfinished rosewood fingerboard so I use Lemon oil. If there is any build up of gunk I use extra fine steel wool (grade .0000) to get it off. Always go with the grain of the wood when doing this. Then apply lemon oil to the polishing cloth...
Is it safe to use olive oil to clean the fretboard?

Uh oh..
Is there a reason why not to directly spray the Dunlop polish on the guitar? Cause I do that all the time, i never spray it on the rag
