  • The only time I actually felt heart ache was at the end , not because they never met again but because that's simply life. But I'm glad they did that, really realistic.

Damn, I'm going to buy this for sure

  • I bought the DVD and it is one of my best anime movies I have ever seen.

  • The saddest anime I have watched in my life.

  • Are there any more anime movie/short stories like this?

  • @RyoLtAs Sorry, but this is 'One of a kind'

  • this really makes me cry everytime i watch it and it's weird 'cause i don't get it exactly..'cause the three stories are weird..it's like she existed in the first episode the girl she loves..and like she didn't existed and then in the end a sad ending lol...;p and weird and wants to make you cry..so touching.....!!!!;s it;s like parallel universes

  • @fairyraffy First episode is when they're 13, they are together, but they move away because of their parents work. In episode 2 they're around 17 or something, and takaki still thinks about her, but he doesn't write letters anymore to her. He lives in some island and the surfing girl has a crush on him but that didn't go well for her. Then in episode 3, he's back in the city and working, while the girl he always liked is already marrying another. And in the end.. I think you get it.

  • Das ist mein aller bester LIEBLINGSFILM egal ob Anime oder Real Film der übertrifft ALLES und steht bei mir auf Platz 1 *o*

So wunderschön und zu gleich auch Traurig Q.Q

  • This makes me want to call my female friend.

  • I've been watching anime movies its all good the girl who leapt through time, summer wars and this I havent seen this yet...I'm reading all the comments and the ending is similar to the girl who leapt tru time kinda depressing too why do they have to do this to us lol....but thumbs up its a great movie tho:) all i can say is so far howl's moving castle from the director hayao miyazaki got a better ending:)didnt leave me puzzled out:)cheers:)

  • I just bought this today. It's really worth the price to get to see it on a television screen instead of just streaming from the web. The quality of the animation is some of the best I've seen.

  • Tohno is the knight of infinite resignation.

  • I love this movie, it makes me thinking... That's the real life, that is true love..

  • so good film. in the end, he smiles, maybe he will move on. hope so. best file ever seen, love and cry till die

  • @standardbearer She's referring to the beauty of nature, not the film itself.

  • Amazing film!

The artwork is simply mesmerizing. I'd say the whole movie is more about the scenery than anything else. I loved it nontheless. My only problem is, that the first segment is so insanely well done, the second and third doesn't seem to match up...

  • What if the world look like this. MY GOODNESS. HOW BEAUTIFUL THE WORLD WOULD BE. no need to make electronics or anything for entertainment, just go outside look at the sky. you will see beauty and it will just leave you breathless. man why can't the world be like this. I love this video and everything about it. I'm happy for Akira that she move on but not to happy with Takaki. Even though he smile at the end of the movie. It is still heart breaking to see him like that. ;-; so sad so sad

  • @LenKagamineish This is why I love anime, because you can always imagine a better world inside of it...

  • Woaaah... The artwork! It's amazing! I must see this film, shall be buying it with my xmas money as soon as it goes on sale ^.^

  • @xxLeeshaxx1 Well it's already on sale so you can get it anytime :)

  • btw he have other movie call (Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below ) will release to all world soon or later :) and he after 5 cm per second

  • WHAT THE FUCK. I was under the impression he ends up with her...so I watched the movie...and now I am..I don't know what to feel!

  • I am a guy, watched the movie and almost cried...

    just beautiful.

  • I wish, reality would look like Makoto Shinkai style <3

  • Ugh where can I watch this?

  • @ohgummygummy veoh.com

  • women can forget ex-boyfriends easily.

  • @yourgoodfriend2011 Lol! If you think that you seriously are retarded. I've had to comfort so many of my friends, they don't just forget their ex's. It is, however, possible that you are one of those people who don't know how to move on in life.

  • @GundamFanGirl dat true, the movie was about the boy and he didnt know how to move on in life, he wont accept a new gf and the result was suffering for 14years, and after he sees the girl in tokyo at a railroad track and he just notice dat life has to move on. sometimes life has to move on no matter wat

  • @yourgoodfriend2011 Life goes on no matter you're a man or a woman and regardless who's to blame or how the break up happened.

Attach yourself to the losses of the past means certain doom to your happiness.

  • This movie makes me think about you...what would've happened if I had told you I loved you...would you be lying next to me, watching this movie together as you cry into my shoulder?

  • 'At what speed must I live, to be able to see you again?'

    </3

  • "Do you know?" "Where can i watch this?"

  • :o if they had a phone or even a computer, they could have contacted easily

  • @T2cool5 hhehehehe lol 1990 what computer but phone yes why they not call each other i mean they used message only lol.in the end it is the guy fault he leave her in end and come after her in end but was too late

  • @Muhammed552 It's not his fault totally, she could've easily called him as well. But they didn't and she eventually moved on while he was stuck in the past pondering what ifs.

  • @GundamFanGirl @GundamFanGirl yes totally agree with u she moved he stuck but this kind of relationships actually reals but in the end still movie :)

  • This movie was boring. I have never been in love so maybe thats why I didnt really care for the story

  • why is this so fucking sad? i'm 23 years old male.. but i cried like a little girl :(

  • Does anybody find themselves watching this trailer over and over and over again for the 100th time even though you've seen the movie already sinc e a while ago?

Yeah... this movie affected me that much that I am now doing this... and I'm liking it :(

  • I cried. I really cried at the ending. It was so beautiful and plus, the art. I had so many questions running through my mind. It was so realistic and sad, so beautiful. One of my favorites forever.

  • beautiful!

  • I can say that I'm a person who doesn't believe in love or that stuff, but when I saw this movie.. it came all back again. Thanks to Makoto Shinkai.

    Sry for my bad english.

  • @Dennixdtb Don't worry about it. Your english seemed fine to me :D

  • @GundamFanGirl Thank you. :)

  • where can i watch this fully? does anyone know?

  • @andreiakg u should have asked like this....

"Do you know?" "Where can i watch this?"

  • probably one of the things that makes this movie so beautiful is because it's close to reality, and reality can be very sad and painful... love it T^T

I pity those who disliked this vid. I bet they don't know what love is.

  • this anime is beautiful, this is true art....

  • this is just epic :0

  • Thanks for accepting my video response! :)

  • @konasium It is no problem, the music you played was really pretty :)

  • ..the animation in the movie was pretty smooth.. i like it.. ^_^

  • the animation is soo pretty

  • watching the trailer makes it seem so sad already :/

  • does anybody know if there are more anime movies like this that's new?

  • Someone said not to watch the dubbed version, i was to busy in reading the subs and didnt realize the movie ended.....i felt very bad coz, i couldnt feel a shit. heard way to much of this movie.

  • Perfect trailer. I love it. I love the movie!

  • does anyone know where to get part 1 with english dubbings?

  • can anyone give me some download of the Soundtrack of this trailer? :)

  • All the sceneries of this movie were breathtaking. I wanted to cry at the end but I figured, that's what happens to a lot of long distance relationships. One day you feel like you can't live without the person, but as time progresses, feelings change and it's like walking past a stranger on the street. It's a bitter sweet ending. It was like,"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." =)

  • @mvfunkymonkey22 You think it's true love at last? or just memory for the past

  • this is amazing my friend, i dont even know why you wast you life time reading this wack people!!?? please delete the note on top of the video, you are better than that!

  • @luizbong Originally when I posted that note, the movie had just come out and spoilers were large in a time when most people have not seen the movie. But as you can see it's been so long that I just forgot the note was even there. I'll go do that now. If you haven't seen the movie by this point, there's plenty of spoilers elsewhere.

  • I'm in love with this anime movie.

  • Thanks to this movie now trains make me sad : (

  • Every time i see this, my chest tightens and it becomes difficult to breath. I feel like crying again... T~T

    Why [name of guy]?!?! Why?!?!!

It's such an awesome movie with such awesome animation. It's truly a masterpiece...

  • Don't spoil it on purpose, seriously -.-

  • this movie is so sweet looking! MUST WATCH! { ;

  • @pokeOneko but very sad

  • SPOILER ALERT:

    Yoda Dies :'(

  • So, this movie was long... long ago, but to me nowadays, it's still a masterpiece.

  • DAMMIT

    TOO REALISTIC

  • There's simply no words to describe how depressing this movie is. I feel sorry for the people who have experienced all of this in real life. It's just painful... very painful.

  • 0:01 Was the Part I started Crying ;(( What a movie! Best Film ever.

  • it's good to see another side of romance...

  • I've just finished watching the movie, and I'm really crying my eyes out..

It's great! It reflects real life events. It simply shows that we can’t always get what we want. Maybe for others, life is so unfair, but that’s life. We must move on. It's so SAADDD...

  • beautiful artwork and an incredibly realistic plot, what else could you possibly ask for? :)

  • I remember the last word I said was NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just watched this movie with my mum. at the end she said to me *SPOILER* 'What, is that it? He doesn't end up with her?' And I said 'Thats right' and burst out crying. This movie really does things to you. I actually loved the ending because it taught me so many things. Love this movie to death

  • Stupid question: Should I watch this or not?

  • Love is beautiful, but extremely painful - and not always in a poetic, sweeping-sky way. It's simple, mundane things that won't mean anything to you until you've lost them, and stay with you forever.

  • I really enjoyed this movie, everything about it, characters, plot, art work, were amazing. I just wish it was longer!

  • Thumbs Up If U Couldnt Get A Boner Of This Film !!! XD

  • this movie broke my heart in the end.!!!!! that movie is so romantic.!!!

  • whether there is continued this movie ..?

5 centimeters per second is very good

  • @Lamar154 whether there is continued this movie ..?

5 centimeters per second is very good

  • I love this film. My family and I were watching it so I had to prevent myself from crying ._.

  • @SakuraKissxX I agree withu Sakura, this movie really touches the heart

  • waw, this video really touches the heart, especially his song

  • what's the song that started from 0:55?

  • wow the guy looks like syaoran...or is just me? hehe

  • @EternalDestiny95 I thought I was the only one who thought so XDD

  • 5 centimeters is the distance between our heart and it won't be any closer. T_T

  • Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 5 Centimeters Per Second, and soon Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below. Makoto Shinkai is a master of the art of Anime. A modern day Gorō Nyūdō Masamune. He has surpassed Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

  • nice. i'm, going to watch this. my bf told me about this, but i haven't seen it. wah! thank you so much for the upload :)

  • I just love the music from 0:09 to 0:25

  • this movie just wonderfully describes my misery which i lived through with my girlfriend ... just everything, even the other part when the other girl fell in love with takaki, i just know how everything of this feels...

but still did i learned alot from this movie and i am looking forward to live my life, it thought me how to get along with those bittersweet memorys, and i acknowledge the ending where he just nods and goes on ^^

  • Some movies I like watching in dub,

some movies I like watching in sub,

this movie I like to watch in dub, most anime I like watching in dub, probably because I have always bin watching anime in dub. The only anime's I watch in sub are the one's that do not have a dubbed version. So my main favorite places are justdubs and anime freak.(since I do not feel nor understand Asian language, that I prefer English more of the time) If you are a person who likes subbed go ahead. Sub is not for me MT.

  • @Lamar154 jesus how can u watch it in dub, sub is the way to go

  • omg this movie killed me. i wanna fall in love :(

  • @alwaystvxq08

i don't think you have to be a person who has/had a girlfriend/boyfriend to understand this movie. This movie truly speaks about relationships in general.

It scares me to death...this movie. I love it so much because I can understand.

I mean you have close friends that understand you, and you only find out later that they have to leave. They tell you to keep contact, come over their place and etc. But...we don't move "any centimeters closer."

    I hope I'm wrong. I HOPE SO.

  • @shadowpal2

whether there is continued this movie? 5 Centimeters Per Second

  • @SecondAndre

You mean a sequel to this movie? Like a 2nd part? No there isn't a sequel...and in my opinion there never ever should be.

  • @shadowpal2 so there are only 3 sequel right?

why the author did not continue it, but good story

I wish there was a sequel 5 centimeters per second ..

    thanks shadowpal2...

  • @SecondAndre

    Ah I understand now...

In the movie itself...it's divided into 3 parts. But yes there is no actual sequel to 5cms per second.

  • @alwaystvxq08 It kills you more if you have fallen in love.

  • @alwaystvxq08

For some reason, the movie has made me reluctant to fall in love.

But I really enjoyed the movie however.

  • i googled and watch the MV of Sakurairo Maukoro - Nakashima Mika

and it really minded me of this movie. Can someone do a MV mix with this song? It totally matches this anime soo well!!

  • i feel like one of them dies in the end 0.o i haven't seen the movie yet but it looks amazing. beautiful!

  • Nice job making what happened clear in your comments :) a lot of people seem to miss a few things

The last scence was indeed a HUGE simbolic act

also...if you think about how the same thing happened right at the beggining of the film.. he has always been waiting for that train to pass...since he was a little boy

    ;_;

  • The boy's voice akwardly reminds me of Izaya....

I am prepared to be mind screwed

  • this anime bothers me so much.... the 2nd part bothers me T-T

  • sob

  • i just saw this movie and cried a lot. Really good movie and it really made me confused. SPOILER ALERT DONT READ WHAT IS BELOW THIS MESSGAE IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE.

The thing i am confused about is why akira doesnt go back for takagi. Takagi waits for the train to go to see her, but she doesnt wait for him. Could someone please explain. I myself havent been in this situation so i dont remember.

  • @budbudbadaf Well first off the names are Akari and Takaki. And the impression I got from this movie is that that scene is symbollic of how Akari's moved on and how Takaki's finally done so too. The reason Takaki still waits as well is probably because he did so in the beginning of the movie; to make it seem more poetic and give the story closure.

If this doesn't make any sense to you, let me know and I'll try to explain.

  • @GundamFanGirl So basically Akari realises that their relationship ship can't last forever so moves on and marries another man. Takagi doesn't realise that so he keeps waiting for Akari. He only manages to realise that he should also move on at the end of the film.

  • @budbudbadaf Right...they didn't even really have a relationship anymore because of the distance. Takaki stopped sending emails because he wasn't sure what to say but still obsessed unhealthily over Akari. Even though he tried dating someone else (in part 3) he was too hung up over Akari and stayed totally distant.

    But yes, that's about it.

  • @GundamFanGirl So in the end they couldnt continue a relationship because they were both emotionally and literally far apart. This meant they really couldnt get more closer to her. She even says it in a email she send him that she still loves him but no matter how many emails they send each other their love won't grow. It was something like that. That basically indicated that she had moved forward with her life as this was not gonna work out while he kept thinking it would until the end. Thanks

  • @budbudbadaf They never write emails to eachother saying they love eachother. They both talked themselves out of that with the letter they wrote in the first part. They just stop sending emails to eachother in general. He had no idea she moved forward with his life until they met at the train crossing again. So it's more like...the distance and time caused any hopes she had to fade.

  • I don't really like anime but this is the best I've seen.

  • dang if only all anime art was this good :]

  • english dubs for any japaanese movie or anime always sound weird...subs are the way to go

  • whats the name of the second song in the trailer?

  • @twilightgrl2 It's called "One more time, One more Chance" By Masayoshi Yamazaki^^

  • I noticed that there are some who didn't understand why Takaki stopped contacting Akira if he loved her that much.

You have to understand the Jap frame of mind to understand the movie.Even if he did love her, chances are that the feeling wouldn't hold since they can't do anything about the distance. Takaki was stuck in the memories of the past not because he still believed that he can be together with the girl, but because he still haven't able to let go of the IDEAL.

  • @aislemyth you dont have to be Japanese to understand that; growth itself drove people apart, but makoto does it so beautifully that you didnt blame Takaki for his doing. Its not they can do anything about the feeling its because its been so long; Takaki and Akira both surrendered and let it die to the memories. thats why i think TIME and DISTANCE is the main protagonist in this movie.

  • can somone please PLEASE tell me... how do i get my videos that good quality!?

it's only on 360p yet i feel like i'm watching at 1080p in fullscreeen.

It's just like the trailer.. too damn perfect

  • @CaveofTwoLovers It's nothing I've done. All it is is that the art in this anime is so amazing that it looks fine in 360p. If it were still 1080p it would be absolutely mind blowing.

  • I dun think I wanna watch this....not to say its bad but its just depressing and sad from what i read and its going to stuck in my head for long if i watch it.

  • If a God exists, even He would weep to see before Him a love like this left unfulfilled.

  • Is Makoto Shenkai making an anime right now?

  • @xy274

Yes, it's called "Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below".

  • ahhh i'm actually gonna watch it NOW!!! :OO i thought i'd never be able to see it!!! i RLLY hope its as good as everyone says :DDD

  • this anime is awesome, though i dont quite get why akari does not send letters to akaki anymore. -___-.

  • @AliceJaxerques me too, i don't get that part, i mean if u love her that much why the fk won't u contact her. he really pissed me off. excuse my language plz but i mean COME ON. this movie really made me sad.

  • you must download the song i love it and its awesome! STUDY TO IT SLEEP TO IT DO EVERYTHING WITH IT!

  • WTF!! This is the most beautiful 2D animation I've ever seen!!

  • This looks really good :o and the art is beautiful

  • fan-fuxing-tastic film

  • oh god...*cries* I loved this anime. I watched it a long time ago. theirs only 3 episodes episode 1- children episode 2- highschool episode 3- adults

  • this is a beautiful film, but i would have to say its one of the loneliest movies i have ever watched, he certainly got the feelings across in this one, wonderful movie, but sad, girls will cry. im guy and it was hard accept the end.

  • @cwavern i agree with u 100% & i'm a guy too.

  • You have to watch ... you have. Best Shinkai's Movie Ever. Don`t watch with ENG dubbing !

  • @proxxxx23 It's that bad? >.<

  • where can i find the piano sheet for the beginning til 0:23

  • @hansmeierx song is called "distant everyday memories" by tenmon if that helps you,you should find it if u search by the name,in caseu haven

  • I just can;t find out how people can dislike this O_O

  • even so.. most english dubs for these kind of movies suck.. like they did with the placed promised in our early days..

  • Amazingly beautiful movie, a masterpiece...

it's like missing a piece of your life if youven't seen this yet...

  • hi i made a sweet amv ;) watch it

  • @ everyone.just watch the movie in a 1080p and you will know why i made this comment.

  • this anime makes me wanna create one...

  • The best anime I seen.

  • i love this movie. simply beautiful.

  • I love the part of this trailer at 0:56 when theyre playing the piano version of One More Time One More Chance and then the original version of the song kicks in :)

  • i cry manly tears the second i heard the piano TT^TT.....

  • is this a good movie? cuz i dnt usually watch japanese audio movies with english subtitles its 2 distracting 4 me but if its good then ill rent it...so plz tell me anyone if it is...

  • @nemo2341 it's a good movie but if subtitles aren't what you like. I think, though I'm not 100% sure, that they have an english dub out by this point (if that's what you like more).

  • @nemo2341

5cm/second is hard to get, I'm not sure of where you would be able to rent a copy as it went out of print within months after it was released. Amazon or Ebay is your best bet but you are looking at $90 used to $170 new. It's a very good movie with arguably the best audio track in anime, but has steep admission price. It has spoken English track available as well. A masterpiece that is more affordable is Jin-Roh, which you can pick up for less than $10; much darker love story though.

  • @nemo2341 this is the best movie i have ever seen by far.. maybe besides grave of the fireflies.. i recommend you watch this its amazing. i cried for awhile after seeing it.

  • @nemo2341 There are actually 2 english dubs. I've only seen one of them and what I saw was pretty good.

  • This is one of the better romance films (´・ω・`)

  • ThnXXX 4sharing!

  • @krsforever It's funny, it's obvious your religious, one that claims they support "tolerance" but really, they're the most prejudious, intolerant group of all. (though I admit there are some good people in the group, you're not one of them)

  • @krsforever I like Mecha just as much as drama and I'm not debating your tastes in anime, even if your taste in real life has much to be desired. It's just impossible to compare to things that are as different as apples and oranges.

UNlike you, I pick things for the storyline, things that actually has plot. Who cares about animation? It's not the main thing in anime, movies, or cartoons.

  • @krsforever That's just like asking what's normal is liking the opposite gender? They're absolutely nothing like you. Love is love no matter which form it comes it. Obviously you've never seen a soap opera if you think this is one XD, but seriously, you made me chuckle when once again, you've proved how ineffectual you are with the english language and called it "Soup" XD.

  • @krsforever Lol you can't compare the two. They're two completely different movies; they aren't even in the same genre. You must be quite immature to be using "Gay" all the time out of it's proper context.

  • All i can say is WOW!!!

  • i didnt like it so much it was a good but not great

  • I love this movie

  • -screams in pillow because of its beautiful'ness- I love this animation so much i've always admired Makoto Shinkai. When i first saw it..oh mee jeans..i could of sworn i felt a tear drop going down my cheek. I always watch the trailer now :'D

  • can I buy this

  • i just l0000ve this anime s00 much!
