@Rheinmetall20mm Great! I can't wait to see your full set of videos of a complete teardown of your Lugers. What method do you use to remove the mainspring? It would be neat to see a video with a different method than the one I use. Usually people don't even shoot their matching number collector guns for fear that the value will drop dramatically if they damage anything. That is why I specifically looked for a matching number refinished luger, so I don't sweat breaking anything.
Thank you for an excellent demonstration. It illustrated the beautiful and 'considerate' design of this weapon. Field cleaning can all be done 'in the lap' without need of tools or wasted movements. Where is that design talent in our youth today?
Look at the Beretta m92fs. Very simple to field strip. Easier then the lugar in my opinion. No comparison at all though... But Beretta makes a very simple yet effective weapon.
The trigger is not horrible, but it is not great either. It is a firm military trigger that to me fells about the same as my Springfield 1911, GI45. Last Friday I shot an AK47 for the first time. Now that had an awful trigger.
You pritty much hit the nail on the hammer. Its not bad, but its also not a competition handgun... So if you look at it like that, its not bad at all. BTW, is the blueing on that original?! Because if it is, its in fucking awsome shape.
It is a matching number reblue. I wanted a matching number gun that looked good and I wouldn't feel guilty shooting. I specifically found this Luger for that reason.
@shadowdog500, you aren't a good judge on triggers then. The Luger has one of the smoothest single action triggers for a military pistol. I have various AK's and they don't have awful triggers.
@esh325 Maybe it was an anomaly, but the AK I shot had the worst trigger I ever felt. I almost needed two fingers to get enough force pull that trigger. There is no way a Luger has a great trigger when compared to a well tuned Bullseye pistol. I let a few guys from last years Bullseye league shoot my Luger. It is funny that every one pulled the trigger until their hand started shaking then ask if the safety was on(It wasn't!) As I said it is a military trigger which isn't great, or horrible.
@shadowdog500, There's must be something wrong with your Luger trigger if you need two fingers to pull it because that's exactly the opposite of my experince with a Luger.
Woah...way too fast.

@Rheinmetall20mm Glad you like my re finished Luger. I don't know how many people would make these type videos with a collector grade Luger.

Beautiful gun.

I gotta say, that's more a detail strip then a field strip.

Such a nice pistol, no wonder it's still used by German army officers and company commanders.

Agreed.

LOL what do you expect, there is a 70 year gap between the two pistols. Technology improves, but the Luger was a benchmark.

Mini-14.
Easy takedown.

I heard it has a poor trigger pull (no offence), is it true?

@esh325 The luger is fine. The AK I shot was the one with the extra stiff trigger pull.

@shadowdog500, sorry I misread it. AK's normally don't have horrible triggers.

lugers are a sick pistol

The magazine must be installed to hold the action open for field strip. Otherwise I would remove that first.
