  • my cockatiel does anything when he sees fluffy slippers lol

  • How do you train him not to fly away...? Or was he tamed when he was a baby?

  • For some strange reason, my tiel loves this coffee table and would stay there for a long time without flying away...

  • looooool its soocute how the cockatiel is looking at his reflectionon the spoon

  • When did your male cockatiel start whistling? I have a 9 month old cockatiel and it hasnt whistled a thing. i think it' a girl and I handfed it since it was 2 wks old. Did you know it was a male when you first got him? He is gorgeous

  • A youtuber told me it's a male because it can carry a tune. The lutino male tends to have bigger orange patch on cheek and higher crest, but it's very hard to tell when it's a baby. My tiel starts to whistle when it's around 3 months old. I would sing do re mi to it whenever I'm around him and he eventually picks up the melody :-) A friend of mine has a female tiel and it only chirps. It likes to push things under its belly, pretending it's incubating.

  • No worries, the little guy in the back has its stomach full already! It's the youngest and is the most hungry one during every feed, begging for food like crazy. I made sure I fed it first so I can have peace filming this video. Look how the crop is full and the yellowish color of the food is visible below the translucent skin below its neck at the back.

  • Aww so cute...reminds me of Harry/Harriet who unfortunately died last night due to shock induced by being grabbed by my dad's cousin's dog. He was the best bird I had and he will be missed by his family and friends.

  • my bird got attacked by my dog and was almost dead but antibiotics done the trick. he's now a happy dad of 3 with his dream wife!!!!!

  • I like how he emphasizes certain bits of the song, and tries to get as high pitched as he can lol

  • That's really cool! How long did it take you to teach him?

  • Very sweet, thank you for sharing this, I am teaching my Cockatiel how to whistle

Cornel Bogey March, so far he got a little dance down to it and the first few notes but then he tries to mix in You're a pretty bird and I love you Mommy which is NOT in the song no where but we're getting the hang of it LOL.

  • awe!!!!!

  • great clip! BTW, what are the birds eating?

  • ah bless whos a clever bird, this video is soo cute.

  • BTW, how long did it take for him to learn the song? thanks

  • I bombarded my bird with the song for about 2-3 months before it starts to sing fragments of it. He was able to weave the different parts together and sing a complete song after another month or so. Good luck in training your tiel!!

  • Hey thanks for the tips, I know SweetiePie will get it someday. I also have a Pied that I'm almost positive is a boy--at least that is what the prev owner said--that he sang all the time. Now he doesn't sing--just does tricks.

Anyway, nice talking to ya, keep posting

    PEACE

  • Actually, I've put you in my favs and let my SweetiePie listen to your singing and your baby singing. I, too love singing this song.

Hopefully he will pick it up sooner or later.

  • Try whistling the tune instead of singing the lyrics to your tiel. If your sweetiepie is interested in the song, it might turn its neck, look at your mouth, eyes opening wide, stay very still listening to your singing, or start to make the "gagaga" sound and start to chirp, similar to what your tiel is doing in your video. These are all good signs that your bird likes the song and is excited to learn it.

  • If you're like me, who can't whistle, another good way is to replace the lyrics with "pipipi" or "tweetweetwee" when you sing the song. Somehow it's easier for the bird to remember the melody.

  • You taught him well--that is beautiful

  • thanks! it responds well to this particular song and loves singing it. He doesn't like songs with quick tempo, like dance music. Those can put my tiel in a crappy mood and it bites me XD

  • oh how cute! tweee enjoys singing more than eating now haha ^______^

  • it sure likes this song, but you didn't see the part before this clip where he eats with it's whole head in the bowl and bites the spoon that comes near the food!

  • The cockatiel remake of "The Sounds of Music", just great!!

  • tweetwee said thanks :)
