Excellent video & comments. If you are replacing a glass digitiser it's a bit more difficult - mine broke as I separated it from the base.... interesting!!
5. You will see brown paper around the circumference of the digitizer. This is double sided tape. Carefully remove the brown paper cover from the tape. It is very thin.
6. Place the digitizer on the metal frame and press down to secure.
7. Install the cable in its socket and lock the latch.
8. Replace the plastic covering to secure the cables.
2. The cable socket is black. Gently lift up on the socket latch on the side opposite the cable. The latch will pop up perpendicular to the base and the cable will come out.
3. Separate the digitizer from the metal base with a thin knife or razor blade.
4. The new digitizer has a protective film on both sides. Remove the film from the backside only.
The part one video is good. The following steps may help with part two. Note, the glass digitizer comes with torx wrenches and a plastic pry bar to help with case removal.
1. After releasing the screen from the front bezel you must prepare to release the digitizer flat cable. Do this by removing the plastic covering other back which secures the cables. Only remove to the point where you can release the cables.
Once underway all went well(~30mins) until the balck latch that secures the screen's ribbon cable to the motherboard broke!!! I inserted the cable into its slot and secured it with Sellotape, along its entire length. The latch was fixed into position with a tiny bead of supreglue.
Thanks for this very helpful video which enabled me to replace my digitiser in 30 mins. I found opening the Palm case to be difficult as well as inserting the new ribbon cable under the black latch, which broke!!!!I managed to locate the cable into the slot, secure it(along its entire length)with Sellotape and superglue the black latch into position.
OK, I finally did it! And the difference is like night and day. I've fallen in love with my Palm TX all over again. Just for the record, I restored every piece of sticky tape back to its original location, since I suspect one of them is for EMI shielding. Some differences from the video: the clear plastic tape was made of a much heavier gauge plastic on my unit, and I didn't remove it. I just pried off as much as I needed to remove the ribbon cable. Also, I didn't use a knife at all.
2. To install the new digitizer you need to remove the old ribbon cable on the back. It's attached to a circuit board via a latch type socket. You lift the black latch where the ribbon enters in and then pull the ribbon out. To insert a new ribbon you place the new ribbon into the socket and close the latch.
Thanks man. So did you put that super-sticky tape back on when you finished, or did you toss it? And what about the clear plastic piece that was stuck to the super-sticky one? Note that I am only asking about the backside, not the frontside.
Hey, if anyone has actually carried out the steps in the video, I'd appreciate your answers to the following questions.
1. A large part of the video was spent peeling off a flexible membrane thingy. Was this membrane reapplied to the Palm when finished, or was it discarded? Same question for the clear plastic piece that appeared easier to remove.
2. After the difficult membrane peeling step, the guy poked around with his knife and removed a small item. What was that?
1. The flexible membrane at the front (input side) of the screen was the original plastic digitizer. On the back, the membrane he removed was some flexible metallic tape used to (i assume) protect the ribbon cables that wrap around the screen to the motherboard.

9. Remove the protective film from the front of the digitizer and install the digitizer in the frame.
10. Replace the motherboard and latch the two cables.
11. Insert the power button in the plastic bezel and replace the bezel.
12. Replace the back and four screws.
13. Relax and have a cold one, you deserve it

I would very much like a response to this if its not too much trouble -
Might I request an encore with sharper camera focus and/or perhaps some audio or text? I'm not adept at this sort of thing.
Put the cookies just a little lower on the shelf please
Many thanks -_^

I'm sorry, no sharper focus possible and Text perhaps in German.

I threw out the protective metal tape. The clear tape I left on as it holds down part of the circuit board on the back.

Just replaced my digitizer about an hour ago.
