Apparently, Napoleon was about 5'7". Slightly taller than the average Frenchman of the time, slightly shorter than the average of his peers. He was painted by many of the powers that be as the devil incarnate after his death. Possibly the slight with regards to his height was meant to aid this propaganda.
"History is a set of lies people have agreed upon." Napoleon
@Vutra666 ,If Rxg8, I think White can play Qb3 threatening that rook and also Bb2 to trap the queen.Black can play Rf8, but after Rxf8 Bxf8 Qf7 it should be winning for white.
Contrary to popular belief, Napoleon was actually average stature for men of his time. People used to be alot shorter because they didn't have near the nutrition that we do now.
It's funny like all the Anglos are pooh-poohing Napoleon simply because he was French. The man was obviously a military and intellectual giant, even if he was short in stature.
Napoleon was not a genius, in fact, he was simply an egotist who had no qualms about sacrificing men in battle for dubious gains. He made pathetic strategic blunders throughout his "career": invasion of Egypt (also allowing his Mediterranean fleet to be sunk by Nelson), invasion of Russia (should have learned from Charles XII debacle), and splitting his army and losing one of his best generals, Lanne. He won some early battles by concentrating his army and defeating amateur opponents. So what?
i commented this video 1 year ago! btw... what do you mean? the game is the same, the theory is the same. i'm not a GM but i have a lot of xp (15 years of games) and i'm sure, he wasnt a genius for that... nothing more than an amateur player...
At 2:07 Napoleon could've won a pawn with 1.Qh5, Qe7 2. Bxf7+, Qxf7 3.Qxc5

Yep. Nelson, however, was quite short.

Why didn't black queen eat white pawn (e5)? Why did black move black pawn (a5)?
Tuh0ne 4 years ago
If you are talking about the queen taking e4 the rook would pin it against the king.
dorielementary 3 years ago
you are right, but s/he is not talking about that.
tuh0ne is talking about a1xe5, the new queen in the corner

3:02 Why dont the black rook h8 eat the bishop g8. Then if he gets a check, move the bishop to e7. Please explain.

napoleon was a great man, but this is a "normal" game, nothing special.
bartolomeo1981 5 years ago
You have to judge the game by the standards of the time. He didnt have modern theory to help him.
