@SharkDude1 Well, as with any kind of agriculture, the more sophisticated your tech, the bigger your harvest will be. If you just plant corn in your back yard, sure, you'll grow enough corn to eat for a month, but you wont have enough corn to feed 50 customers for a month.

Sadly, I went to high school with a number of pothead friends, and even a few who made it a year or two into college. It turned out well in 0% of the cases (imo only. I absolutely support legalizing it in CA. If people are going to smoke it, let's make sure drug lords don't benefit from that fact. But I have to be honest and say that I have very little respect for people who use it. Not 'try it'. 'Use it'.

The consistent pot users that I know have become serious drags on society, and I firmly believe that would not have happened if they weren't weed smokers. Their track record is worse than heroin addicts! Yeah, I come from the bad part of town :). But heroin addicts quickly reach a point where they quit or they die, and my exp is that quitters do well. Weed smokers never seem to reach that nirvana and just suck forever.

I do believe in legalization, we tend to give a rosy view of the economic benefits. We have to take into account the things that will retard the short term benefits (10-20 yrs)

1) We're running under autarky - no trade (trade helps make us richer, faster). 2) you probably won't see Philip Morris brand weed (which means higher costs due to high first time costs for entrepreneurs) 3) Walmart probably won't sell it so retail costs will be higher. 4) local gov't regs and taxes increase costs.

Users won't be the only ones who flood into California. Researchers will have better strains of marijuana to research. Maybe they will be able to isolate the properties in marijuana which actually shrink cancer growth and help to make new neurological connections for those with brain damage. Research which has shown great promise in Europe.
