  • I'm optimistic and cynical. :D

  • What if the R.D. Foundation gave an annual humor award, to honor shows like Mr. Deity and web comics like Jesus and Mo?

  • Seems to confuse atheism with secularity. You can be religious and yet still sympathize with secularization.

  • @pandurate Yes, but I tried to put myself in someone's shoes who doesn't regular look up definitions of secular and atheism and religious. Someone who first hears the word secular typically thinks atheist. But the guy corrects him at the end by explaining that "we want anyone that let's compassion guide their actions... who want to follow a modern morality set up with reason and science..."

    Sorry for the confusion.

  • I liked the old guys voice....haha.

  • No need for the retarded voices

  • change the voices, they sound like religious people

  • Those voices are kinda ridiculous, doesn't help the case we're trying to make.

  • @Atumadegroen I'm not sure what you mean. The voices don't match in the format of a cartoon? Or in the format of the competition?

  • this is just exactly the wrong way to go about this. Preachy, condescending and the tone is way off. The voice acting also paints the layman as an idiot, whether intentional or not. Infammatory language such as sacrifice and pawn could also be left out.

  • @grumhelden Funny you say that. I used the same words (sacrifice and pawn) that Faircloth uses verbatim.

Sorry about the voice acting, that was really the only voice I can do. I was trying to impersonate Dudley Dooright from Rocky and Bullwinkle.

  • @StickInMudd Thanks for the reply, I meant no personal angle, just a general observation that, as we say in scots "ye catch mair flies wi sugar than sh*te".

  • @grumhelden Thanks for your input. But I disagree that this competition was about sugar coating the issues. It had a very specific guideline; follow the ten point vision, and I did that.

I don't want to seem argumentative or like I'm being an ass, because I'm still surprised this even got to the finals. I'm just hoping to get some feedback for future reference.

    Cheers!

  • @Airmanf7 I don't know why your comment has been marked as spam?

  • @Airmanf7 Thank you! It seems that there is a lot of people who didn't like the voices. Though my regular voice is the guy with the brochure, so hopefully they are not dising on that one!

I guess cartoon voices are not well recieved on richardawkinsdotnet.

  • @StickInMudd I appreciate the effort that went into this, but the voice of the old guy is very whiny and it got on my nerves very quickly. I think maybe if it wasn't so nasal or something it would have been better.

  • @Velox415 Okay, thanks for your critique. Just to ask for future reference. If this cartoon was not in this competition, and it was just a random youTube video, would the voice still be annoying to you, or would it be more acceptable within the cartoon medium?

Just asking so I can improve my style.

  • @StickInMudd I could do a better job with the animation and yes the voices were quite bad. Actually I might go and do an anti-religion animation!

  • I am not sure about this one, the views stated are mine but your country has a huge historical connection to its Christian Faith. I think this video will be unsuccessful (due to its preachy tone) with respect to opening the minds of Americans to new possibilities, further more because of its 10 commandment formate will probably anger many, perhaps rightfully.

  • @AnneJ900 I was trying to put myself in the shoes of someone hearing about the 'ten point vision' for the first time, without any connection to atheism or secular groups. It sounds like the ten commandments, and I thought that it might scare some people away, thinking it was religously motivated. But then the guy explains they were just a general outline to get something started. The ten point vision itself is preachy.

  • lol I liked the voices! Stop hating... they were funny xD

  • @XxAmericanLedxX Thank you!

  • I like what I've heard from that brochure.

Also: Hitchens’ list of commandments: watch?v=v-63cTYJDCA?t=6m14s

  • I guess this must be the children's version...

  • WOOT! I made it to the top seven!

Sorry about the blocky animation. It had been a long time since I tried animating anything.

And the voices were the best I could do. So love it or hate it, my video made it to the final seven!

  • @StickInMudd

Fun vid, and informative. I lIke the pot belly on the resident and the undershirt sticking up above the neckline on the pamphleteer.

  • those voices killed it.

  • @sg8man Do you mean killed it in terms of this competition? Or in terms of it being a cartoon about the ten point vision?

If the voices were more to your liking, would it be better?

    What voices would you prefer?

  • Any need for the moronic voices?

  • @earlofainsdale Sorry that you don't like the voices.

I tried to invoke a Dudley Dooright from Rocky and Bullwinkle.

    What voices would have prefered?

  • @StickInMudd Something like [youtube: How New Moon should have ended by jayandsilentvic] would be great about the voices. Silly but fun and interesting. I made the animation, but all the voices made by a friend who is not an actor and he tried it for 1st time.

  • Actually, I think this was very strategic and presented in a well thought out manner. Thanks for taking the time effort for a good cause.

  • Not a huge fan of this one, but it's mostly because of the animation.

  • Good stuff, but very dull animation
