  • Cabin Crew work hard, Pilots at BA are really thinking of their own right now. Walsh is not leading a team, just sticking to his ignorant leadership style. Wrecked human relations in BA, created a toxic culture of fear, created dreadful PR for BA. He needs to go in order to re instate sanity to this great airline. Harvard, this is how NOT TO LEAD YOUR TROOPS!

  • don't be fooled by the unite union.See there leader arguing

that foriegners have as much right to british jobs as the british

check out the folllowing YT video

"treason at UNITE,British jobs for british workers"

  • @mbmjson

i agree sack the british and give us foriegners their jobs,we'd

    work for nothing

  • make all potential strikers work in siberia naked

  • YEAH, with your fat arse on their faces!!!

  • Your better of on the dole now anyway.

  • Many of you good people in the UK upset because you think one group of workers has more than the other and does not deserve.

    Consider this:

Are you living in the kind of life you expected when you were young?

Are you less well off than your parrents were at your age?

Where has the better life gone improved productivity promissed?

Its been eroded by outsourcing, downsized, and your wages have been inflated away.

Be angry, don't let politicians and buisness leaders deceive you.

  • ban all strikes. workers should do just that - work.

  • I agree Strikes are something that should never happen. We need to find some new more efficient ways to set up negotiations. I like the idea of workers and employers donating all wages and gross proceeds of production to charity when a contract ends untill the new one is signed.

That could be a something to look at in the future.

  • Technological displacement and outsourcing are pushing the working class into the working poor.

Unions may be your last chance to push back before we all become third world class workers.

Stand up for your rights, demand pensions and fair pay for fair work.

If you don't you will loose your social safety net. The tax base will erode and you live in a circle of debt like the Americans.

There will be no midle class unless we all stand shoulder to shoulder and demand equality.

  • Now people you see how socialism ruines everything! Postal Strikes, BA Strikes, which ruin peoples lives are all due to these immoral Socialists.

Luckily, capitalism has yet again shown justice and ethicality.

  • You are totally deluded.

  • I hate these selfish socialist unions. They dont seem to realise we are living in these tough times!

  • We are all living in tough times my friend. I work for a company from Brazil that although is profitable they want my pension and profit sharing. Since they bought out my employer they can afford fo loose hundresds of millions in a strike.

If they win they erode tha tax base in my city ( and everyone else has to pick up the tab ).

Yes union is a somewhat selfish form of socialsm but I pay taxes and suport my comunity. Big buisness takes the money to a tax haven and its gone.

  • I just can't get over how many people side with those that are over them. After the last two years we have been through in the economy. The Banks shafted us, Politicians, shafted us, etc I just think the British in general just like getting shafted now. Who cares how much BA General staff get paid, what about the top brass!!

  • because the actions of the cabin crew staff wouldve shafted the rest of us decent hardworking people who want a nice christmas break from this economic nightmare.

there are many ways to resolve a dispute, massed disruption to the lives of innocent travellers isnt one of them.

  • and already get paid more then most other airlines

  • They earn way too much money. They were the best paid waiters in the country. They should be on minimum wage, like all other waiters, and impress customers with their service so they can get tips. Minimum wage and tips for the selfish BA crew I say

  • It would be interesting to see how many of you would give up your job, so people can go on holiday.

There is a reason why we have poor rights for workers in this country, that reason being most people take the side of the bosses.

It's the cabin crew today. but tomorrow it could be you job, people need to wake up,

    the media is playing us.

if you are on the side of the bosses and you are just worker, ask yourself this, what is in it for you.

  • The reason they jealously attack those who stand shoulder to shoulder to protect their families standard of living, is because they live this life of servitude. If their employer decided to let them go on Christmas Eve they would accept this like an obedient little lap dog. "Put the cat out on the way". "Right O Mate". They tamely submit to the fact that they will struggle in retirement. "Well you know, there`s a pension defecit".

  • that was really dam selfish of them 2 strike at christmas time 1 thing now i have 2 say after there silly little strike failed UP YOURS!!!!!!!

  • congratulations to all that are flying now to see loved ones over the xmas period

  • BA unite members GET REAL.... we are all facing hardship, losing jobs and having to tighten belts. Your actions disgust me and many others. We don't have the 'luxury' of striking and attempting to **ck over everyones christmas plans just so that you can continue to earn the highest cabin crew salaries in the business. Get a life..... I hope you all get sacked. I'd never fly BA again...

  • Well done to the judges for the injunction!

    Death to socialism

  • Hahahaha. F^£$^*& you BA crew! Now you know what it feels like to be shafted. Hang your heads in shame for your illegal ballot. Militant idiots! "You reap what you sow" - an old expression you would do well to remember. At last common sense prevails over greedy fools.

  • @CabinCrewAreNoob - tell cabin crew they're getting a freebie flight then, when the plane is airborne let off a massive bomb & get rid of them all. employ people who actually want to work, not layabout strikers

  • LOL. Illegal strikes. Jesus

  • GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!!! common sense has prevailed and the court injunction has deemed the strike to be unlawful and thus it cannot go ahead!

    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

  • its funny becuase BA are definately going to lose money this christmas , how can the unions expect any sort of pay increase ( or respect) after ? ??everyone else in different industries is getting redundant and pay cuts due to the recession but - BA sounds like a good place to work if they are getting pay increases :)

  • @wiggymole01? i thought you had to be 18 to come on here or have at least 1 braincell.that i suppose rules you out on both counts.

  • mole, i dont like the strike but your comment stinks.

  • wigglymole that was a stupid comment.

  • i've got a good idea - tell the cabin crew they're poing to get a pay increase AND a xmas party - pack them into planes to go to the 'party' then, mid-air blow the bloody things up. cabin crew & over paid pilots gone forever - easy.

  • Brothers and Sisters I suport your leagal strike action against Brittish Airways.

Thank you for your suport of us Steel Workers In Sudbury Canada local 6500

    Thank you Comrads!

To those upset over the striek durring the Holiday season I am sorry. These things happen. Vale a Brazilian company has ruined my Christmas by asking for major concession on pensions wages and profit sharing. Month 5 or our strike.

Unite has sided with and suported us I must do the same.

  • I commend your courage and conviction; You`re obviously a principled and dignified worker, unlike the Scabs the company are currently training to restart the smelting operation. As for the managers and office staff who are performing mine and mill duties, they ought to hang their heads in shame. Solidarity from the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers & Firemen! (ASLEF )

  • Our brothers and sisters in 2020 local have been forced to do our jobs its not by choice. They work to rule that us their only recourse.

Or non unionized friends and front line supervission are not our enemies. They are being forced to do our job and they have already been stripped of profit sharing, their pensions are threatoned and they have not protection of any kind.

Some showed up to our meeting last night to offer suport. Many unionized and not are threatoning to walk out and join us

  • The definition of Selfishness:

The act of placing one's own needs or desires above the needs or desires of others.

    Synonyms:

    self-centred, self-interested, greedy, mercenary, self-seeking, ungenerous, cuntishness

  • I think the strike was very selfish

  • So trying to protect your job is selfish.

  • 1 word... WANKERS!!!!!

  • They are total noobs!

The next time someone tells me they are BA cabin crew and want a lift home at the end of a party, or a day of work, I will offer to give them a life, drive out to the countryside in the middle of know where, tell them to get the ^$%£ out, and also tell them this is how it is, leaving them stranded. But its ok, cos I need more money from my job, so leaving them standed will help us all in the long run.

    PS Kiss my ass!

  • Can i have one of their jos .I will be redundant in march . They are lucky to have a job .

  • I am not going to spend money on airline tickets when you know the staff want to commit suicide. I note they are lead by a left wing Liverpudlian, nothing new there then. I shall be sorry to see the back of BA but if the staff think they are hard done to when their conditions of service are well above the norm and they cheer spoiling every one else Christmas they will reap what they sow.

  • So there's a left wing Liverpudlian at the helm. Well no shit! That's like saying BA's clientele are all from the home counties with more money than sense.

  • Just making the point that in all strikes that lead to the end of once great companies there is often a militant Liverpudlian leading the charge.

  • Why is that then?

  • Don't really know why Trade unions are often lead by left wing Liverpudlians but keep note and you will see my point

  • Funny how nobody has said anything about the other airlines greedily upping their airfares to slither in on BA's loss. Anyway the strike ain't happened yet and i doubt it will. If BA went bust the government would bail it out anyway. Speedbird would never go.

  • Absolute disgrace!..... Disneyworld with our 2 boys down the gutter thanks to greedy trolley dollies who wouldn't look out if place in the home end of a millwall game, the way they cheered was humiliating to say the least .. Sack all the chaffs, there bleeding useless anyways! Scumbags...

  • i wont be going to NYC for xmas now now and i haven't got long on this mortal coil.

  • ill thought out indeed. wheres a camp aging senior cabin supervisor going to get £56k in a service indusstry, that is when the ( at least ) 1 million people they've ruined christmas for never book with BA again and the airline goes bust. Ryanair, not today thankyou. Virgin? No room at the inn. I reckon its the hissy fitting male crew who are behind this.

  • Points to think about:

    1. The Unite union is trying to blame BA for the "ruining" of Christmas. Sorry mate, it ain't washing with the public. The vast majority of people are blaming the union and it's members.

    2. I do have sympathy with the cabin crews. Having contractual conditions changed without consultation is not on. However, brinksmanship, where you are never going to have public support, is idiotic. It's Xmas! Stupid if you thought there'd be support or that BA would not fight back!

  • joe9songs...firstly, I do not earn £30K I take £21K after 14yrs with BA, NO EDUCATION, OK so why did I need O'levels and a language to apply, I take exams every yr to pass on Safety procedures and Medical..

We cheered as we feel let down, as for a RETARD, you need to watch your words, I have a family member who has learning diff and that is a fuking insult.

  • 30 K a year

  • cats injections for cattery £90

    cattery £100

    hotels in NYC £800

    NY guide book £7.99

    flights £1000

the satisfaction when the strikers lose their jobs from theyre ill thought out action..priceless.

  • was getting a conecting flight to heathrow with our lovley patriots from british airways, but disaster averted, googled a 40 quid transfer out of edinburgh. no doubt the airline will give me a refund of about a ton so that will leave change for a postcard to those hard workers at the picket lines. off to work now.

  • How often I hear passengers said to cabin crew at the end of a flight "How can you do this all the time?" We can because we're paid well enough. It's lots of family life adjustments and unhealthy lifestyle. If we willing to do it for 9-5 desk job pay then we're really brainless.

  • Typical BA Crew, Rude arrogant and could not care less about anyone. No one believes your protestations and excuses. Lets be honest you just want a long Xmas holiday. See you on the dole next week !

  • this is not a gamble, its more equivalent to a suicide bomber running into a crowd of people, killing himself and a ton of others

this strike could destroy BA not only will the greedy strikers lose their jobs but countless pilots, ground crew, maintennence, catering, etc who have VOLUNTARILY accepted pay cuts will be made redundant and their lives ruined

with BA one of the major employers in the UK, this could deal a crippling blow to the economy, screwing the rest of us even more. fuckers

  • seems an awful big gamble by crew members to get christmas off work, lets hope they can salvage some good from it. and for all the unlucky ones grounded over the holidays, l know what your going through.

  • BA cabin staff get £30k a year!! No real education required. Virgin cabin crew get 14k a year.... lets see.

The way the BA cabin staff cheered at the strike shows they are all retards. Be grateful for earning so much money for a non-degree job!!!! And get the hell back to work you losers!!

I will never forgive the BA cabin crews.

  • why are you striking the company you work for are really struggling in this resession pilots maintanance etc have accepted changes why cant cabin crew ?? because you want something for nothing i would love to have your pay and perks i know you have to do loads of training but you knew that before joining you get payed a hell of a lot more than cabin crew at virgin at least 75% more in fact by striking your actually putting at risk the very company you work for

  • 'Documents filed with the trade union certification office, a regulatory body, reveal that Derek Simpson, 64, Unite's other joint general secretary, received a salary of £97,027, up 4 per cent on the previous year, housing benefit of £38,340 and £24,480 toward his chauffeur-driven car. And for sure he won't give a toss for all those people stranded in this vindictive and stupid lemming action

Cabin Crew wake up for Christ sake !!!!

  • Best paid air crew around still in a job - got it rough have'nt they . Hope Willy Walsh stick it out then moves to the railways and does the same there .

  • you forget that this management team couldn't open a terminal without buggering it up.He said it would be o.k come and fly out of our shiny new terminal. If cabin crew got the same cut as their flight crew collegues they would give the passengers piggy backs to their family and xmas destinations

  • Well done for your strike action on BA... hopefully by next year they will go bust and you will be unemployed for Christmas you selfish scum bags...

  • Maybe some of the people commenting above should realise, that we are not UNSKILLED, we have to go through hours of training, for fire fighting to delivering a baby, and work long and jet lagged hours, and see this as a job we want for life not as a skip to another.. I for one have been crew 14 yrs and want to stay and serve customers, but not when it means I am so tired n jet lagged to do it properly

  • Yeah - I can see your point!! You definitely need 5 days off in Cape Town after an 8 hour flight to get over the harrowing working conditions.. If you're tired and jet lagged - maybe its time for you to get a job in Costa Coffee! Have a lovely Christmas with your family! I know I won't be! Turkey for one please in a foreign country!

  • i agree that you do have to do a lot of training noone is saying you dont but why are you striking you know the company has had massive losses last yr and are going to have massive losses this time round if you strike you wont have a company to work for you should think yourself lucky you have a job and dont forget b a cabin crew get a hell of a lot more pay than your rivals eg virgin so i think you should put up and shut up

  • in this season of giving, BA cabin staff pricks have taken away countless family reunions and travel plans. such a calculated and vile act makes me sick to the stomach especially in these harsh times.

dont these arrogant pricks realise they are still the best paid cabin staff in the world and benefits that eclipse all their counterparts?

i hope BA either fires them all or folds over and leaves them all jobless so these assholes get to know what REAL hardship feels like.

  • And maybe you should show some respect to people, who could one day be asked to save your life, well I for sure will not be saving yours

  • obviously your cause must be just because you are suffer- oh wait, i remember! BA cabin crew staff can afford to carry out this strike because they sitting on a big fat £29,900 salary (TWICE as much as virgin!) the big bonus is they get to enjoy a christmas break at the cost of everyone else.

get real, how do you expect me to show respect to someone who bitches and moans about conditions and pay while they earn twice as much as other airlines that do the exact same thing?

  • Comment removed

  • Oh God - I think im gonna be sick

  • Hahaha! What an absurd comment! You're cabin crew - not a paramedic - despite your years of training on how to use a defibrillator!

  • sorry about jelly comment glennmac88 it was for that donut @pallet316

  • Jesus. Thatcher really did a good brainwashing job in the 80's. How can anyone say the staff are "ME ME ME". Wake up! It's those at the top that are screwing everyone else.

  • So be it if BA come crashing down. There's always someone better that can take over top brass jobs and run things smoother and fairly. The fatcat era should be put to bed once and for all, even better booted out. The whole argument about it's bad for the economy is a moot point. The money that's lost only goes to line the pigs at the top anyway. It never gets to the masses. Let's face it what have the staff really got to lose. It ain't pride. They have that piled high.

  • i feel sorry for the Airport employees tha are gonna have to put in extra hours over Christmas! i think it very unfair that the cabin crew are putting employee and BA in this situation. but it all could change soon becuase BA are taking legal action coz they have found irregularities in the ballot! and anyway do they have to have a 12 day walk out!? seems as if the cabin crew want a christmas at home and this is the easist way to have one ( bringing a company to its knees!)

  • if your gonna get fucked one way or the other go down fighting the whole country is brainwashed into thinking big business is king up the workers

  • UP THE WORKERS.

  • just had some jelly for my tea it reminded me of you glenmac88 no backbone.

  • What the fuck is that suppose to mean? Back bone is not giving way to bully boy Union leaders who are on thousands of pounds more than the workers.

  • Solidarity! at last. Why don't the BA top brass work for weeks without pay like they suggested "lowly" workers do. It's tough on people travelling at Xmas yeah, but that's what has to be done. Maximum impact. Far to long those at the top have crapped all over staff.

  • these workers should be applauded for having the balls to stand up to their employers why should they accept a pay cut and change of conditions.the hypocrisy from people on this forum is breathtaking.would you roll over and except a pay cut and have your working conditions torn up?silence is deafening.

  • You are forgetting that 1,000's of people have done exactly that to save their jobs and protect their families and 1,000's are jobless and lots more are working a lot longer hours for less etc.... where have you been this year?

  • If BA has no money the strike won't make things better. Won't they have to make even more cuts as result?! I can't see how that should help anyone? I am guessing Unite don't need to travel to see their families at Christmas

  • BA humbug!

  • Comment removed

  • also they are all old hags I will never travel with them again Up yours W. W prick

  • all the cabin crew are dykes and queers and horrid attitudes with it

  • b.airways on it's knees i don't think so.

  • Your right its not on it knees, its lower.

  • Whoever supports the strikers surely has a brain with no sense, when a business that pays you is on its knees, this is never the way to act, and the timing? oh my God! i wish u all die u old ugly hags

  • good on the b.a staff for standing up for their working term and conditions.i'm glad there are at least some people in this country with a backbone who will not stand back and let an employer walk all over them.we should back these people because it could be your job next.strikes are a last resort and people don't strike and lose money because they haven't anything better to do.

  • They will lose more than their money pal because this will spell the end of BA.

Nobody will fly with BA now, they will look to Virgin and others so this WILL mean more jobs gone less money into BA.

Well done Unions you fucked your members over.

  • The members are the Union!

  • Who tells them what to do? The over paid Union members. If you dont like your job look for another one I'm sure there are thousands who will take it.

  • You ain`t got a fucking clue have you! The union is a democratic organisation. The members vote whether or not to take industrial action. From what I can gather, the result was quite convincing. It is attitudes like yours that has caused the trouble in the first place. BA want to sack their current employees and recruit from the reserve army of the unemployed on less money.

  • From what I gather the union sent out ballot forms to people who no longer work at BA.

  • Where did you the that information from? The union or BA?

  • Here here! Nice to see that someone talks sense :)

  • *Last comment aimed at 09876543217028 *

  • Yep the've got backbone for sure but no brain... sack the lot and get some proper workers in who want to work

  • xmas holiday to thailand gone.....

  • This is terrible. Im sure they think that they have good reason to do this, but it doesn't seem right. B.A is one of the most expensive airlines to travel on and their cabin crew get paid twice as much as Virgin Airlines and others. not good at all !!!!

  • i hope everyone that works at british airways burns in hell. this is a disgrace and they are ruining christmas for thousands of people

  • People Like Me Mate :(

  • i was supposed to go to florida with my family on the 26th and weve been saving for 2 years. now these heartless assholes have gone and ruined christmas for alot of people. shame on them, this is a fucking disgrace
