How come you guys can't call a duramax what it is? Which is an ISUZU!!! Would that be the "heartbeat" of America? I'll keep my American built, slow, 7.3 Powerstroke (yep, International). Is the Duramax bad? No way in hell. I have several shop trucks with them. But get off the whole Duramax kick like they are good old American iron. Sorry to burst your bubble.
@plumcrazybee Duramax built that engine with Isuzu. But the engine is built in the US. Can't say the same for the 6.0, 6.4, and 6.7 Ford has built in Mexico since they stopped using the 7.3
@Warblade118 Certainly increasing the power decreases the lifespan of the engine, as is true with any engine. I can't argue whether it is more or less expensive then alternatives at the same e.t. since i don't have experience with other engines/vehicles. A setup similar to the one in this video can be had for under 5k in mods but may or may not stand the test of time. However with a built motor it has been reliable for years.
@MaxPowerLB7 Well depends how you get more power opened up my cousins 97 s10 just removed the stock intake componenets and removed the stock exhaust new igniton coil thing has alot more power. But if he stays out of the throttle it will probally last longer. Mainly cause of the exhaust removes back pressure and the extra pressure on the motor trying to shove the exhaust gases out.
I've seen a few of these diesels at my local strip running low 11's high 10's. Its great and all, the downside is lifespan really goes down when you double (or more than double) these engine's HP and for the money you could build 2 or 3 10 sec racecars. But hey, if you want to have the fastest truck around and have a ton of money, go for it!
those badass engines are finding their way into musclecars now! duramax are big,and heavy, but as we see they put out the power! ill bet boats are next on the list,if not already!
diesel is god

@NNWarrior My truck weighs around 6300 lbs and i would assume a Chevelle would weigh in around 4000-4500 lbs.
