Thank you, good people, who saved this dog. It's time that people see animals not just as animals but as spirited beings with each an unique character and (complex) feelings and emotions. Just like little children they can't defend themselves or speak for themselves and that's why we must do that. Protect them, inform people and take care for them. Protect the animals from the beasts.
screw you mommadog1 if that was your neighbors dog and it was fighting for its life than you should have the damn guts to help take it to the vet and find a proper home for the poor thing. it isn't right to just wait. if they waited he would of died and if he died it would be because the owners are irresponsible and don't take care of the dog! so i thank god that tammyddb did something before he actually died
It sounds to me as though mommadog1 was the original owner/abuser of Doogie. She was definitely advocating that he should have been left to rot in that yard. How could she be so inhuman? I hope she gets what's coming to her in the end.
mommadog1, you can go get eaten by a pack of hungry wolves for making such stupid comments. She didn't steal the dog, she saved it's life, even though it had arthritis at least the dog will have a happy life now that it was "stolen"
'Jake' had horrible arthritis and he was left to die outside without care. That shows how SICK some pet owners are. They treated 'Jake' like yesterday's trash. Tammy gave him comfort and love. Doogie died, as all creatures will, but without pain and in a circle of love. Shame on mommadog and pity. She doesn't know what love is.

No she stole him off the owners property and she has been convicted..she is supposed to remove all this but so far hasnt..Guess she wants a contempt charge too
He was a neglected chained dog who was very ill and was not receiving any medical attention. Tammy Grimes took him out of the mud of his yard and took him to a vet for the medical attention he needed. The owners were not charged for causing him to reach that level of illness but Tammy was charged with theft, as if a dog is property.
Amazing! Glad you seem to be getting mostly support. Those who think our highest moral behavior is to obey laws have either not seen much of real life, or cannot think. Perhaps they have never heard of "civil disobedience" - it helps to correct ineffective and/or unjust laws. You did great!.It is painful to watch dogs go back to neglectful homes - I had to do it when I was a child, but not any more if I can help it. You are sensible, strong-minded and thoughtful; AND you have guts!
Makes since, this has a good conversation but I have to call it a night, I have early clients and doggies to play with. Maybe we can continue this torromow.
Ok, was wonerding why the animal control officer was coming out of the Vets you had brought the dog too, thought it had a connection like the same vet for both parties. Just a odd chance the animal officer was there I guess. Can I ask why you changed his name to Doggie?
He was there looking for me, because he called the neighbor and she told him I took Doogie to the vet. He knows which vet I use. We called him Doogie, because we didn't know his name, and had to call him something.
You have no business even being around a dog "mommadog1" much less owning one. I have stepped in on quite a few animal abuse situations. One being my neighbor who left her 12 month old puppy outside, winter, no food or water or SHELTER. Yes I tried to talk to her but she just couldnt seem to comprehend and I couldnt leave that poor puppy to die so yes I warned, tried to educate her then one day that puppy disappeared. Oh..IN YOUR TERMS "STOLEN".
And now that puppy is safe and healthy and ALIVE. And I would do it again in a heartbeat. Tammy Grimes is top notch in my book and you dont even rate. I suppose you would have walked up to "DOOGIE" (THAT WAS HIS NAME) and left him lying there to die. Its people like you that the animals DONT NEED!!!! And you need to change your damn name and if you own a dog I feel so bad for that poor animal.
No I wouldn't do that..for christs sake you have no right! But I would not have stolen the dog, I would have stayed there until the animal control came out..How hard is it to call the police?????????????????????
I guess your little sign should say 'Politically Correct' then instead, what I did would be considered 'Politically Incorrect'. Put your money where your mouth is. T

yeah, if you stole my dog, i can guarantee i would go all the way to california, kick your ass, and take my dog back. i think its great that youre helping abused animals, but you can do it in a way where its legal
Really? have you ever tried to get help for a dog? I just tried to do it 'the legal way' for a dog that was 30 lbs. underweight...and oh, the Humane Officer gave him right back to the abusive owner, so there you have it. Now the dog will end up dying, because that's 'the legal way.'
I don't give a shit what ya'all think of me.. I only gave my opinion..I didn't say the dog didn't need help. BUT there are LEGAL ways to get that done.. and FYI I actually do rescue but I do it legally! and another FYI I don't own ONE dog I own 15. And not one of my dogs would ever be treated like that..So I DO know what love is.You don't know me....so piss off
"And not one of my dogs would ever be treated like that.." Yet no one -- and people tried -- could get Doogie's original owners to get him some help or let him die with dignity. The law wasn't there to help him. He was just a piece of property to them.

i hope you die in the most painfull, slow way and the same time, being starved. And then when you die, we can feed your body to the vultures. its not liek your worth anything- your just a burden to the earth.
dumbass... this lady saved this dog's life. what have you accomplished latley? nothing important I bet.
Did you use the same vet? Look I think the Aronld's are in the wrong but you are too, do the right thing for all us that also care and do animal rescue with in the laws!!!
It clearly states in the answer from 57 minutes ago that we do not use the same vet. In fact, the vet she supposedly called to euthanize the dog is not the vet she claims to have taken him to last year. Neither of which are the vet we use. I am doing the right thing for two beings: Doogie and me. Those are the only two beings that matter in this case.
The local police failed to uphold the law by not responding to the neighbor's calls reporting the neglect and cruelty in the first place. I believe Tammy's actions can be defended as legal since she very carefully documented the situation and was very open about everything. Hopefully the jury will agree that citizens do have certain rights to act upon a dangerous situation when other options have been exhausted and failed.
I'm just trying to make since of it, sure the video looks bad. That video won't stand up in court sorry to say, just trying to get some answers to support your case, you don't think the DA is not reading all your blogs and won't ask the same questions
Really, which question was that? Do the Arnolds use the same vet we do? No. Did they call the vet that day AFTER we took the dog? I highly doubt it. Is that why I refused to give the dog back? No. I won't give the dog back because they left him to die on the ground for three days.
IF you believe the Arnolds called to have him euthanized AFTER they discovered him missing (as she stated on the witness stand), I have some great property in the Florida wetlands for you too. We have that on court reports.
Question for you: You seem to believe EVERYTHING the Arnolds say, even though they left their dog lay on the ground for three days. Yet you don't believe the video evidence before your very eyes. I wonder why?
Yes of course I read it you still miss the point, grant it animal control refused you beacuse of the theft. It was out of thier scope, but when Flaig called there was your chance!
Tammy, whydidn't you turn the dog over to animal control after the vet visit and file a complaint then pushed the issue through the system. Then you could have proved your case of abuse. It is done everyday by people who rescue abused animals!!!
I offered Doogie to the Humane Officer not once, but twice, which will come out in the trial. I have a witness to the first one and will have phone records for the second one. He never returned my call. If you read the site, which you appear to have done, I'm sure you would have seen this too, right?
Looks Like Tammy stole the dog to bolster her Dogs Deserve Better Organization. Why did Tammy Grimes refuse to recuse the dog at first? Here are her own words "We told her we aren't law officers, and she needed to call the humane officer". I don't feel she is a hero, more like a vigilante thief with her own agenda.
I wonder what your agenda is? Only people with impure agendas question others after they do the right thing...because they are the only ones capable of such things!
If I rescued a child that I thought was being abused I would turn it over to the authorities. How do we know Doogie(which isn't even his name!) was abused? How do we even know he is still alive? Tammy Grimes is the abuser here and you guys are all being snowed.
I'm with Cemanning. Will you return a battered child to it's parents that abuse it, JUST the same! My God what is wrong with you people! The obes who kept on saying Tammy puts herself above the LAw. I will do the same thing! Tah tis what you call courage of conviction!
Way to go Tammy! Keep fighting! That is inexcusable that the "owners" of Doogie would treat him that way & everyone turned a blind eye. Bless the neighbour that called you!
I'm so glad to see that Doogie's doing much better. This was brought to my attention from a friend, who found the pictures of Doogie on a someone's Yahoo blog. This is unnacceptable that people are allowed to treat animals this way. I don't know about the animal abuse laws in PA, but here in Kansas, they passed a law making animal abuse a felony, and it carries a mandatory prison sentence of up to 5 years. That should the law everywhere.
i don't even want to think about what would have happened to Doogie if Tammy didn't step in and do the RIGHT thing. Doogie is so handsome! i love Tammy!
I applaud what you have done for Doogie, it's great to see the difference love and care can do for a pet (or anyone for that matter). You have my full support, keep your chin up.
Why would Ms. Grimes even consider returning this dog to the intolerable circumstances that she rescued it from? I think this family was obviously unavailable to care for this dog if not neglectful for not taking steps to provide care for the dog. Lets see what the courts decide...
If Ms. Grimes felt she had no choice but to act immediately to protect the dog and took it to get medical help and then turned it over to the authorities when asked, I could support her, but she continues to put herself above the law by refusing to turn over the dog. This is wrong.
It was clear that any medication/recommendations from the Veterinarian would be disregarded by the owners as proved by the conditions that they {didn't} provide for their dogs..Neanderthals that they are..
Hello, did you not see the photos and video of this dog. The Vet report verifies that this dog was abused. This is no rush to judgement this dog had to be taken from the Arnold's in order to live what is left of his life with kindness and love.
The law was doing nothing to help this animal and when she left the vet she would have given the HCPHS Humane Officer, but he wouldn't take him. The police would have given the dog back to the Arnold's for further abuse. That is wrong not her keeping a dog from abuse.
Martin Luther King, Jr. states, "One has not only a legal, but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws."
And, also, "law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress." He also reminds us, "We should never forget that everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was 'legal' and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary was 'illegal.' It was 'illegal' to aid and comfort a Jew in Hitler's Germany."
He's like a new dog! Tammy, I wrote the DA and both judges. You know- there's a REASON people make fun of the guy who lands a position as dogcatcher. Keep your chin up, and fight!
Wow!Great to see him up and moving. After seeing the last video's i thought he was on his last leg.Isn't it crazy what a little food and water and some love can do for the spirit?Wow Congrats to you Doogie!
Tammy, this new video of Doogie and his recovery is absolutely heartwarming! He looks so much better, and is obviously receiving the proper care. You have done a wonderful thing in rescuing him. A "BIG" thank you from dog and animal lovers EVERYWHERE!!
Doogie has a guardian angel in Tammy! Let's hope thousands of formerly chained dogs around the country are now in homes with their families as a lesson from this story! Domesticated pets cannot survive long on their own and depend on us. Let's get them all off the chains and into the homes! One person can make a difference!!
O! this makes me so happy. I tried to save a dog and its owners came and went crazy and took him away.:( Then three days later they put it to sleep. I think what you are doing is wonderful
Tammy, you are a hero to Doogie and all the animals! I hope that horrible "human" that had him previously never gets a chance to have any more animals. Thanks for doing all you do! This video made me so happy. I'm so glad to see Doogie up and around and being able to be treated like a dog should be treated.
Tammy-because of YOU, he is a totally different dog!
Because of YOU, he is moving around relatively pain-free!
Because of YOU, he looks happy!
Because of YOU, he is alive!(and doing well-obviously!)
I watched Inside Edition last night(and have been following this whole travesty of justice in the BF Network)and cannot believe that ANYONE would think that he was not neglected to the point of abuse before you intervened!
Wow! Doogie looks amazing from when we first seen him! Way to go Tammy! You are such an amazing person! I wish every animal like Doogie had a gaurdian Angel like you!
How about we take the OWNERS of this dog, chain them outside for a week, let them scream for help and DO NOTHING. Punishment should fit the crime. Case in point, Iran....you steal, you get your hand cut off....I'd personally tie the rope around that family's body to a tree. And sit in my house with my glass of wine lifted high saluting them as they beg for food/water.
Oh my goodness and thank you to the vet and his staff for giving Doogie the care he needed to get back on his feet - you are all STARS - ! Thank You - Thank YOU ! :)
Now this is what love and proper care is all about - what a wonderful change in him - you are Tammy this dog's earthly guardian angel - I didn't think I would see him stand up and walk ! Well done you - well done Doogie ! and Thank you Tammy for saving him !
Just trying to do my small part by typing up a storm since this story began..Letters to the Governor, blogging to the Altoona Mirror..even sent 2 editorials{but I have doubts they will be published}..forwarding videos and signing petitions. Those Arnolds's appear to be the prime example of ignorant dog owners who think a Dog's life should be spent 'chained to a doghouse ,wallowing in it's own filth'..Disgusting
This is truly wonderful. I hope the Arnolds see this and are truly ashamed that they let him get in that condition. How they can show their face on tv and try to justify this is amazing.
lovablek9s A whole new world has opened up for Doogie thanks to Tammy! It's amazing that he is still good natured and wants to explore - probably the only real walk he has had in years or ever. God asked us to care for his creatures, and that is exactly what Tammy has done! She is a hero for our times and has inspired so many others to do the same.
Hi i live in Williamsburg PA, I saw this story first in the Altoona Mirror then i seen on WTAJ-TV 10. I don't watch WJAC. I think you most defintly did the right thing. Just look at the difference the dog looks. Mu neighbor don't pay attention to his dog. He can go three days with out taking food up or and water. I am getting sick of hear the dog howl when they go out and just scream SHUT UP! Well regardless of what they do. You most def did the right think.
This video is evidence that this dog was clearly negelecting prior to your rescuing him. Thank you for having a spine and a heart. Good luck with your case.
i was worried about this dog till a saw this clip thank god its ok...

Tammy Grimes is the abuser here and you guys are all being snowed.
iclute 5 years ago
Maybe they choose to believe their EYES instead of the LIES you're feeding them!

Bless the neighbour that called you!
lornalane44 5 years ago

Since when was Ms. Grimes or you appointed judge and jury? Ms. Grimes should be ashamed for using this helpless animal for her gain.
iclute 5 years ago
Why would Ms. Grimes even consider returning this dog to the intolerable circumstances that she rescued it from? I think this family was obviously unavailable to care for this dog if not neglectful for not taking steps to provide care for the dog. Lets see what the courts decide...
cemanning 5 years ago
If Ms. Grimes felt she had no choice but to act immediately to protect the dog and took it to get medical help and then turned it over to the authorities when asked, I could support her, but she continues to put herself above the law by refusing to turn over the dog. This is wrong.

iclute,
It was clear that any medication/recommendations from the Veterinarian would be disregarded by the owners as proved by the conditions that they {didn't} provide for their dogs..Neanderthals that they are..
dbrdoo 5 years ago
And how are you so sure of this. I am very disappointed at your rush to judgement.
iclute 5 years ago
Hello, did you not see the photos and video of this dog. The Vet report verifies that this dog was abused. This is no rush to judgement this dog had to be taken from the Arnold's in order to live what is left of his life with kindness and love.
iisk8 5 years ago
The law was doing nothing to help this animal and when she left the vet she would have given the HCPHS Humane Officer, but he wouldn't take him. The police would have given the dog back to the Arnold's for further abuse. That is wrong not her keeping a dog from abuse.

Martin Luther King, Jr. states, "One has not only a legal, but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws."
sunswirlgirl 5 years ago

Just trying to do my small part by typing up a storm since this story began..Letters to the Governor, blogging to the Altoona Mirror..even sent 2 editorials{but I have doubts they will be published}..forwarding videos and signing petitions. Those Arnolds's appear to be the prime example of ignorant dog owners who think a Dog's life should be spent 'chained to a doghouse ,wallowing in it's own filth'..Disgusting
dbrdoo 5 years ago
This is truly wonderful. I hope the Arnolds see this and are truly ashamed that they let him get in that condition. How they can show their face on tv and try to justify this is amazing.

I doubt they will..People like that are in complete denial..:O(

lovablek9s A whole new world has opened up for Doogie thanks to Tammy! It's amazing that he is still good natured and wants to explore - probably the only real walk he has had in years or ever. God asked us to care for his creatures, and that is exactly what Tammy has done! She is a hero for our times and has inspired so many others to do the same.
nancy4926 5 years ago
Hi i live in Williamsburg PA, I saw this story first in the Altoona Mirror then i seen on WTAJ-TV 10. I don't watch WJAC. I think you most defintly did the right thing. Just look at the difference the dog looks. Mu neighbor don't pay attention to his dog. He can go three days with out taking food up or and water. I am getting sick of hear the dog howl when they go out and just scream SHUT UP! Well regardless of what they do. You most def did the right think.
