Thank you for this video! My dad's herd is of black angus. Most of those cows though are super gentle they are not all purebred angus though (most are) fathers were but their mothers were Gelbvieh (from when he was obsessed with the breed). Herefords are gentle as well and my bull is a purebred hereford and so the half hereford quarter angus quarter gelbvieh calves I wouldn't trade anything in the world for them :) And they are great showcalves for county fair level, not that fancy but still :D
Great video your tips are great do you thing you can get with me at bohanonleeterry@aol.com this is my first time on showing I will give you my number though my email.......
hey there,...im Megan i live in weaverville CA, iv been raising steers all my life i would like to talk to u about ur videos my cell is 1-530-739-3334 ,...p.s. nice steers mines better haha
i would rinse my steer once a day but when he comes home there is 3 feet of snow.... thanks for the video. i wish i found it last summer cuz we had a clipping incident and he looked bad!
@Mr14NYM15@Mr14NYM15 i show alot of angus cattle, takes 3 days to get them to lead or understand the basic concepts that they cant fight the haulter, add a week or 2 to fine tune the rest of it, add a week for the show stick sometimes 2 weeks depends on the animal, you use final bloom show bloom adhesive moose there are many types you can use, look at the products that i use and that are also used in this clip they are from sullivansupply
@ADeadlyPancake Depends on what the temperatures are. If it stays below freezing a lot, unless you got a major show to go to, I wouldn't worry about it.
Love Angus cattle. I love our Limmies though! :D

How come when I wash my showcattle I end up soaked?? and that guy is perfectly dry. Well, it cools both the cows and me off in the summer I guess!

Angus cattle are naturally polled, so they do not need to be dehorned. Other breeds that have horned cattle make choose to dehorn them at birth.
apicreativemedia 1 year ago
Are all bull dehorned when put into shows?
Mr14NYM15 1 year ago
@Mr14NYM15 the animals they are demonstrating with are steers..... not bulls:)
rodeogirl13245 1 year ago
@rodeogirl13245 @Mr14NYM15 Actually these animals are heifers, but the tips given can be applied to heifers, steers and bulls.

You can bath them in the winter, but typically it is done indoors. The animals are then dried before they return outdoors.

MRNME123 2 years ago
At our ranch we bath them year round. We bath in one of the barns in the winter.

Be sure to watch Part 2 of Fitting and Showing Angus Cattle. These tips are great no matter what breed you have.
apicreativemedia 2 years ago
can you bath them in the winter?
ADeadlyPancake 2 years ago
Yes, typically most people will do it in a barn. We then use a blower, which is like a big blower dryer, to get all of there hair dry.
apicreativemedia 2 years ago
@ADeadlyPancake not unless you live in warm climate
