@kitkatNEF You can work it as an edge. Since the stitches shift and will be different on rows, you would have to carefully select your hook placement, possibly working between strands(splitting) or the actual yarn to make it even. I hope that makes sense.
hello that such points are great would like to know if the string ends in odd or even ask, but forgive me esque no English and had to translate comments for noticing but I believe in none appears please help me greetings from mexico lily atte
when you are doing the spike stitch and the single crochet to lock it, are you picking up just one loop? It looks like you are just going through the single back loop. I am an absolute novice at this, so I really need a complete explaination of each step. I have scoured the internet and have found your videos are the best....love your style.

@silentwriterofpa You are welcome. You may end up with some extra chains at the end. All you will need to do is sew them in between the stitches. There is no reason to rip if you are unable to get the stitches to match the chain.
I love this pattern but I am completely annoyed with myself as I have managed to completely mess it up. LOL. I'm watching this again to learn what I did wrong.
Can someone help? I'm brand new,I mean brand new to crochet. I do my first row the chain, then go on to triple stitch on the second row,and the piece gets all wavy and curves a lot. Any advice? What am I doing wrong?
@Unsolvedfanatic Also make sure that you do not do the 1st row of chains too tightly. It was cause it your piece to buckle. Just make practice pieces to figure out your tension and the great thing about crochet is you can rip it out and not waste your yarn. Good luck and keep practicing.
@Unsolvedfanatic Sounds like your chain and first row are not the same tightness. If your chain is really tight and your first row looser then it will curve around your chain. If the chain is huge and the first row really tight then it will curve around the first row. I would guess your chain is probably too tight?
Hi .tjw. i will make my pattern , it is so pretty , tk you again , and i will see you all the day long again . you are ones of my greated teacher , love you!.... i have learn you baby salomon stitch , different hat , but i want to make you cuit mouse , i think he its so cuit , pretty!.
hi teresa,,thanks for dis video dis realy nice,,i try to make the abstract _cat.......and i hope that u can have a tutorial how to crochet a bag or a purse,,thanks so much...super i ,love, all ur videos
I have just learned how to crochet from one of your other videos. On this one (the spike), why are you going thru the back part of the chain only when you are single crocheting?
can i do this pattern with 3 ply yarn? which of your pattern wud luk gud with 3 ply or baby yarn for making an afghan.. i tried abstract cats.. but not luking gud with 3 ply..
they should all work out but you need the right sized hook to match the yarn....i have never had a problem using different yarns witht these patterns...i'm in australia and the yarn weights are different.....
can you name a list of some of the stitches starting from a more begginers upward?? I self taught myself a mistake stitch which I like but I want to learn some others as well.
If you click on my main page and then go to the playlists. You can look through the stitches I have posted. Some of the same crochet stitches will go by 3 different names or more.
Teresa you are awesome!!!! You are the first person that has taught me the grannie stich. You just don't know how many people I asked and all they did was confused me even more. Your videos are perfect and I got it well you're a heck of a instructor. Thank you so much and God bless.
You can replace this stitch as your main pattern stitch. For instance if you purchase a sweater pattern that uses the single crochet. You can use this stitch instead.
Yes you can. You will still be able to see the spike texture effect. If you wanted to, you can spike down one more row, to highlight the spike more since you are using one color.
Teresa, I found the chain's I need for the large afghan and for baby one on your pattern instructions. sorry I should have looked before posting an asking. Thank You
Thank you for being here on youtube! Its because of you that I now make hats to sell to all of my friends. I was wondering how to make a tablecloth. I bought a book showing different kinds of stitches but if I don't have a pattern how will I start? Doing the math calculations are a nightmare for me, it like speaking another language.. Help!!!
Crochet is nothing more than repetition. When you are working with pattern stitches, they are sets of repetition. If you are making a tablecloth out of a motif, you keep adding squares until you get the size you want. A lot of times, when you are making your foundation chain with rows, there is an amount of guesstimation anyway because most people have a different tension than the author of a book.
The first part of the multiple is how many chains it takes to make each individual pattern stitch. What you can do is to crochet a small amount of the pattern stitch. You will want to do at least 4 inches. You use that sample to figure the measurements for the larger piece you will be making.
absolutely love this pattern. I believe i have found the design i shall make my new niece's or nephew's blanket, who is due to arrive in 8 months or so. thanks so much for making these tutorial videos so easy to follow.
i like this look! how would i do the spike stitch as an EDGE around scarves? i notice different size holes around it when i did.
thanks!
