@tomamamao The recoil is not as violent as the 10mm, it's like a push instead of a jaw breaking crack. Very controlled recoil without the unpleasant pounding in your hand. It will really surprise you how easy it is to shoot accurately. wr

@rob1bike . The 185 chp leaves the barrel at 1200fps.Awesome cartrigde and when the 6" conversion comes out this fall late or early 2011, the velocity will be even higher. It's truly a work of art.
@poppyross An 185-grain projectile at 1200 fps is not impressive at all. The 10mm Auto in a typical load will push an 180-grain projectile at 1350 fps. A full-power 10mm load will push that same 180-grain projectile to 1500 fps.
The only thing the .50 GI has going for it is to be able to say "I have a .50 caliber." Its ballistics are only marginally better than the .45 ACP and quite worse than 10mm Auto. Ammunition is also very difficult to find, so are components for reloading.
@jerseyemt Actually the components are easy to get, the cartridge uses the standard .45acp brass and primers, the dies you can get from both readily from both Hornady and Lee. The bullets themselves you can purchase from the GI website, and they can be used in reloading not only the .50GI but the .50AE and .500 S&W as well. And to say the only thing the .50GI has going for is it to say you have one is ignorance. Muzzle Velocity isn't the only determining factor in stopping power.
the .45 cal and 10mm glocks use a larger standard frame than the rest of the standard frame glocks. besides the .50 gi isnt that great. its more or less just a gimmick to sell their proprietary bullets. only guncrafter makes 50gi rounds and only guncrafter sells .50gi conversions if anything its just a trap to trick people into buying this stuff just because everyone wants to be a tool and get a 50 cal gun and pretend its a desert eagle. even tho 50ae is way different than gi
the 230gr .50gi has a muzzle velocity of 1000. and the 230gr lawman fmj .45acp and 830ft/s and speer gold dot .45acp 200gr +p jhp has 1080ft/s. but the gi bullet is far heavier and falls out of the air much faster regardless of weight and powder.

@rob1bike . The 185 chp leaves the barrel at 1200fps.Awesome cartrigde and when the 6" conversion comes out this fall late or early 2011, the velocity will be even higher. It's truly a work of art.

@poppyross An 185-grain projectile at 1200 fps is not impressive at all. The 10mm Auto in a typical load will push an 180-grain projectile at 1350 fps. A full-power 10mm load will push that same 180-grain projectile to 1500 fps.
The only thing the .50 GI has going for it is to be able to say "I have a .50 caliber." Its ballistics are only marginally better than the .45 ACP and quite worse than 10mm Auto. Ammunition is also very difficult to find, so are components for reloading.

@jerseyemt Actually the components are easy to get, the cartridge uses the standard .45acp brass and primers, the dies you can get from both readily from both Hornady and Lee. The bullets themselves you can purchase from the GI website, and they can be used in reloading not only the .50GI but the .50AE and .500 S&W as well. And to say the only thing the .50GI has going for is it to say you have one is ignorance. Muzzle Velocity isn't the only determining factor in stopping power.

the .45 cal and 10mm glocks use a larger standard frame than the rest of the standard frame glocks. besides the .50 gi isnt that great. its more or less just a gimmick to sell their proprietary bullets. only guncrafter makes 50gi rounds and only guncrafter sells .50gi conversions if anything its just a trap to trick people into buying this stuff just because everyone wants to be a tool and get a 50 cal gun and pretend its a desert eagle. even tho 50ae is way different than gi

the 230gr .50gi has a muzzle velocity of 1000. and the 230gr lawman fmj .45acp and 830ft/s and speer gold dot .45acp 200gr +p jhp has 1080ft/s. but the gi bullet is far heavier and falls out of the air much faster regardless of weight and powder.
