Just like to point out this is not a solid wood guitar, the sides are laminate. Not that it loses anything because of this. I fully agree this is an amazing guitar but would not wish to misinform the solid wood guitar snobs out there. That said I would rate this guitar as good as anything else I've played including much more expensive tailors and gibsons.
@GRAFq 42.5mm is on there site and thats wrong, we measured 1"11/16 on the 360 and the tan 15.. I had to get a tape measure out because i knew the neck was bigger than 1 and 2/3. I got a martin instead bc they couldnt convert
They can range anywhere from $250 to $2000 but let me tell you personally, it's an excellent buy. You won't be sorry buying this instrument. It isn't a 'Top of the line' guitar but the tone and overall quality of it is amazing! Holds tune, sounds great plugged up or unplugged and its an overall beautiful, well made guitar for the price! Check out the Takamine website and if you wanna check out my channel I should have a review on the Takamine eg523 Jumbo series soon.
takamine makes some really well built, reliable guitars with great tone and playbility. If you're looking to get a guitar for gigs and performances, this is the line to go with. However to all the guitar enthusiasts, not having a guitar fully made of solid wood always resonates in the back of our heads as we feel the full tone potential is not reached. If you want a all solid wood guitar for around the same price go with Guild GAD series or a Godin (S&P, seagull, norman) guitar
@jlim200 I don't lose any sleep over knowing that the sides on my tak are laminated. I wouldn't buy a guitar with a laminated top, and probably not one with a laminated back, but laminated sides in combination with a solid back and front makes a lot of sense to me. If they can save the good bits of mahogany for making backs instead of bending them into curves that are stiff and unresonant anyway, then good on them - especially if it is stronger.
@Adnamira LAMINATED SIDES ARE BAD? IM JUST ASKING IM THINKING OF GETTIN AN EF360SC ITS HAS A SOLID ROSEWOOD BACK BUT THE SIDES I THINK IS LAMINATED BUT IS THAT BAD?
@aldobu1990 No, I don't think so. I think Takamine uses laminated sides for strength with the preamp. It is just that it is incorrect to say 'all solid woods' if the sides are laminate. I think having solid front and back with laminated sides is a sensible idea... and the japanese Takamines have really good build quality.
@Adnamira lol? thats means that lamianted affect the sound of the guitar? what does it do? i am gonna buy one with laminated sides and solid wood front and back? what is gonna affect?
@aldobu1990 My understanding is that solid tops are better for sound, because solid woods vibrate better. The back & sides function more to reflect the sound that the top produces. The sides are obviously the least resonating part of the guitar, so I don't think the sides being laminated is a big issue, & may be more resilient and stable. I wouldn't worry about the sides being laminated. My issue is with salesmen not knowing their product. I have an EAN10C - it is brilliant.
@Adnamira thanks mate now i understand :D what do you think about the 360sc? will worht than tan 16 it looks way better it just dont hve the cool tube... and the same woods its laminated roswoods sides and solid back and solid top spruce does it worth?
@aldobu1990 I have never played an EF, and I don't know the pricing, but I think all the Takamine pro series in that range are great value guitars. The CT4B preamp in my EAN seems alright. You can always whack a cooltube preamp later on too.
@Adnamira yeah thats why i want to buy that guitar later on put an cooltube on it and there you go you have a ef360sc better than tan16 *in the matter of look* :D and they have the same woods...
Great sounding guitar. I got a Takamine 9 years ago, it still plays and sounds great. That may not sound like feat because there are Gibsons that are 70 years old still sounding good. But when you have seen how many times i have dropped it, left it in the hot car, it has even been rained on more than once. This thing just keeps on playing. I got it on sale for $350 and it has been well worth every penny.
yes it is reall good sounding guitar, nice size and feel everything is good about it,, i have just bought it from a store for £709.. it was £886 reduced.. i think its roughly $1200-$1300
hmm that's a great price.. where did you buy it from? I'm based in London.. any suggestions on which guitar shops to check out here? I think ill go try out the ef261san tomorrow..
ya liike i was saying a played a gibson, thought it sounded average,, picked up the takamine had one strum and knew it was the one.. amazing sound,,, also perfect for when your strumming hard.. should try it out..
£1100 will buy one in uk

What is the nut length of this guitar?
Lesrevil08 5 months ago
@Lesrevil08
42,5 mm.
Besides, the information is this video is incorrect: The sides of the guitar are laminate rosewood.
Except for a few guitars that's the case for all takamines, even the high-end-models.
