  • I believe the key is C. He may be capoed, but he's playing in a C position. It's too low for e.

  • Love you Maria!!!

  • No one in the world can sing this exquisitely.

  • @Willtypo - I have the vinyl as well.

  • this is the greatest thing I've ever heard

  • i can't find "Gringo in Mexico" by marie.if someone has it to post or knows a link please message me.tks

  • Dangerous music late on a lonely Saturday night, or any other. JOHN B. is just perfect and together they are beyond compare. Thanx!

  • One version that is particularly special is the one done by Stoneground Family Band and one of their female vocalists. It is a version that apparently is not to be had by the general public any where because I have had no luck finding it.

  • @bcxcheersx8 yes, I think it was Deirdre la Porte, on Stoneground's 'Family Album'. A gem. I've still got the vinyl disc but it's a bit knackered.

  • @Willtypo Actually Annie Sampson sang it on the Family Album...cool album

  • man i did not know that john sebastian could finger pick like that, jorma,s got nothin over on him

  • i got to thinking about what could be better than the cover of this song, and i think it would be great to hear bonnie double finger pick with john sebastian, and bella fleck, sam bush, and jerry douglas tastefully embellish the song ,as only they can do. that would be way over the top.

  • i am listening to every version of this song on you tube, and this one in the key of e just out shines all of the rest ,i am haveing sutch a good time sitting here with this old gibson just playing along. i just wish i could finger pick like john sebastian, with all the trills, and frills, and where are you gonna find another voice like maria muldaur, you wont. just wonderfull , finding this has just made my day.

  • @snapperjohn1000 try going to u tube, member"i play banjo now" or the original by Mississippi John Hurt.

  • Richland, MS isn't on highway 61. It's on highway 49. I know because I drive through it everyday.

  • @patrick9648 -- Im' not certain whether you IGNORED or whether you DID NOT KNOW the significance of Highway 61 in American music, especially for Delta blues and country blues.

  • @zebooker Yes I know all about highway 61. I'm from Mississippi and travel on it quite often. Richland Mississippi is on highway 49 south of Jackson, not in the Delta. Highway 61 Starts in New Orleans and ends in Minnesota. It orginally went all the way to the Canadian border. Highway 49 goes from Gulfport, MS to Piggott Arkansas. Highway 49 and Highway 61 intersect in Clarksdale, MS where legend has it blues singer Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil

  • Loved this duo! Great after so many years to hear them play together!

  • Every song is great on this album - truly one of the best albums cut in recent memory.

John just shines on this ragtime piece - yes, he would be the best choice for this guitar part. I could listen to this all night.

  • love this composition. maria is an old favorite. i agree with some other comments about Christine, iplaybanjonow, who is a remarkable talent. music is big, plenty of room for all. gracias.

  • Check out a great version of this by IPlayBanjoNow. Recorded on webcam and very integral in performance. She has the most beautiful, unaffected voice and great picking style. Very talented, pass it on.

  • Now... that's COOL...! so cool...

  • Yahoo!!! I've been waiting for this one. it's my favorite Maria Muldaur song and also did not know it was John Sebastian!!!

    also the best!!

  • Just wonderful. I love Mississippi John and this maria's song is also winner.

    TO

  • Check out the version uploaded by IPlayBanjoNow. She picks just like John Hurt and sings like an angel.

  • Maria proves that she's the best White Blues Singer going today!!

  • Great picking by John Sebastian and Maria's sensual sultry vocals make a smoking hot comfination.

    Great tune and great post.

  • I didn't know it was Sebastian on guitar but it does fit.
