Shame was invented by religion. I say that because shame is a result of when you do something wrong. But how do we know what is wrong? Right and wrong are basically concepts of morality, morality being basically a set of rules brought down by religion. Even if you don't believe in any religion, the (inter)national laws are based on religious teachings and rules, and therefore the "shame" or "guilt" when doing something wrong is nothing more than the knowledge or fear that you may be punished.

I just can't advocate the hyper-literal as art....call it surreal if you like...but I don't think so, not technical enough. The numbers are abstract, the business is definitely abstract, but the symbols and language are non-signs. goofy. He is a really great artiste and obviously bright.

Manson is very intelligent yes. But he's really almost a nihilist. If you read his work and listen to a lot more of what he has to say. He really doesnt give a shit. He's an entertainer and purely an entertainer. He realizes that controversy sells and he creates controversy extremely well. Manson is incredibly inspiring and like he said he is also very inspired by others. Just keep in mind he is indeed an entertainer. An entertainer that has and continues to make a fortune.
