I see what you are talking about because I have bp and have had it for 14 months now. People who never had it might not notice but we bp people can tell, at least this bp person can.
Hi, thanks for sharing your story, I'm pleased you have no noticeable effects (at least to me) from your episode of BP. As a matter of interest, did you smoke before you were pregnant and quit once you fell pregnant? Have you always slept well and deeply? Are you difficult to rouse from sleep? Have you ever suffered from bouts of asthma or hyperventilation or any other bouts of "breathless" feeling? Is your posture good? Sorry for so many questions but I noticed something in sufferers.
You know if u didn't till us about it we wouldn't know or notic any thing , only if someone starring alot at your face might find very tiny defrence between your left and right side , wich 80 % of people has some defrensces between each side , what i am trynig to tell , Just RELAX u looks fine.
@likhohhkjlik - thank you for your response. Yes I'm not complaining as much as just sharing my story. I've had so many responses asking about my experience ... so I now have a chance to help others feel good about how it will look in the future. Thanks again for stopping by ... SmileyD
Hi there! I am on my 9th month of BP...how long did yours take to go away? I have the synkenisis you're talking about but I am not fully healed...did you have the mixed signals like your eye shrinking or opening and closing while moving your mouth? You don't look like you have any residuals! You look very symetrical :)
i had BP 8 years ago...it took me about a year to recover from it. i was really lucky that i made a full recovery, but i remember the doctor telling me back then that if i got it again it could be permanent....im about 8 1/2 months pregnant now and ive got it again! :( im really scaird that this time i might not be so lucky.....

I'm so happy to have stumbled upon your video. I'm a little over 2 years deep into having this. No one can tell but I see the drooping still in photos of myself and video. I'm curious to know if anyone else experienced eye tearing at all on the effected side of their face. I did and had tear duct surgery last year.
Honestly smileyd, you dont look bad AT all, you cat even tell you have had bells palsy :). I have had bells palsy for almost 17 years now..... it recovred but never FULLY id say only about 75% reocvered, when i laugh, talk, smile you can tell there i something not right in my face. But hey, i've come to terms with it however i havnt given up on the fact that i hope one day, juts one day i can wake up in the morning with a "nice" smile on my face... Hope everyone gets better xxx
I had it about 6 years ago, and like you say there are differences in my face that I can see and feel, but aren't really noticable to other people. I actually felt it coming on one night. I felt like I had the flu. Then it felt just like I got novacaine injections in my face yet at the same time it felt like the muscles in my cheeks were twisting. I thought I was having a stroke. By morning I couldn't stand the light in my eyes and when I tried to drink water I couldn't feel my lips.
I had bells palsy 13 years ago when I was only 10 years old. Ever since then I have a significantly crooked smile and my boyfriend jokingly makes fun of me for being a "side-talker" or moving one side of my mouth much more than the other when speaking. Like someone else mentioned, my face also droops when I'm tired! I'm glad I'm not the only one with lingering effects, and it seems like for me, they will never go away! But hey, these are just the quirks that make us more interesting!!

I will have had it seven years on this Saturday. I have the SAME issues. I feel like mine are a little more noticable though. When I puff my cheeks my eye shrinks up and when i drink or get tired my face droops. I also have the line and picture thing you were talking about! It's so relieving to know I'm not alone!!
wow! thanks for sharing your story.... I tell my husband and family this story and I think they think i'm imagining it... so thank you for validating what we have =) SmileyD
I just got it last Wed. Found out Saturday what i have. I'm a trucker and stay in hotels when i lay over. Was in Birmingham Al. We stay at a hotel called the Medical Center Inn it close to the hospitals. I told another driver not to touch anything because of all the sick people there. I woke up to this that evening. I heard Ageless Extra helps but i can't find where to buy it I feel like i need a patch for my eye. HELP lol
Hi..I was almost 9 months pregnant when I got Bells. It has now been almost 9 years...My Bells has now turned into Synkinesis. I have found someone named Diana Farragher in England that works with patients of all ages. Since I cannot get to England, I am going to work with her via computer. I have come to terms with the fact that I have facial paralysis, but I would love to one day be able to smile normally in a picture with my children.......Best of luck!
i neever had ut but ny sister inlaw did and she still has the effects from it as well, I think for her it was about the same amount of time 7 to 8 years ago. pretty much the xame as you. happened while she was on a plane to her sisters place. to this day it still has lasting effects
i had the same thing - when i was pregnant as well! i got it about a year ago. while my case was very mild (and have no visible symptoms left over), when I get tired the same affected side of my face starts getting sore and feels weak. *sigh* that was a scary time.
mmm. yes it was. I still can see effects and my daughter is now 7! I was just looking at my face yesterday and i have a slight indentation. UGH. oh well. we live on. Thanks for stopping by. Smiley:D
Hi, I currently have BP and I also got it while I was pregnant with my second child. How long did it take for you to recover? You look really great by the way, wouldn't be able to tell you had BP.
My daughter is now 7yrs. old. It lingered for a few months, but I slowly started to see things return to normal. However, I still have things that only I can see. And when I take pictures, my one eye is lazy. No one else see it. But I did do lots of face exercises. Look into that, kinda like physical therapy for your face. Best Wishes. Smiley:D
I also had bell's palsy, but i had it when i was like 8 now im 19 and i have the same problem with the smile thing. One side of my mouth doesnt want to go were the other is, also one eye closes more. .... kinda like this " 0o ". I had almost forgot about it till my boyfriend said something about it when i made a face at him.... ever since then it has been bugging me, that was about 3 weeks ago. When i smile its not to noticable , its only when i have to hold a smile ...
ps..i live in uk..the doctors here dont know much about it at all, when i woke up with it all,i went to the doctors,,the woman i seen actuually thought i was getting shingles! my god,had to wait 24 hrs and go back, went back she still didnt have a clue,,so guys hope u in uk never get it,and hope they put their noses in txt books a bit more and learn a bit more about it,i had physio, and a brain scan and that was it..
Hi there,id like to start by saying ,you guys are soo brave,by posting videos on your bp.i had a severe case, due to pregnancy with twins.this was nearly 5 yrs ago..erm eye bows kinda better,,smile still ballsed up,but i have been also left with a water noise in my ear..which i dont hear ppl mentioning and also i cant taste food on side either still.and when i eat on that side,my eye waters.wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy, its awful thing to live with, confidence is shatterd good luck ppl
I got it about 4 years ago i was 18. It scared the crap out of me because i had no clue what it was. I still have a bit of a crooked smile and when i do smile in pictures my eye does that exact same thing. the smile doesn't bother me too much. I just wish my eye would stay fully open.
i had never heard of bells palsy until i got it then i met quite a few people that were striken with this ailment all recvered save one my case began clearing up exactly three weeks to the hour the paralised side began to itch some of the symtoms i had were very sensitive hearing on the affected side also i noticed the treatment from stangers most treat you as retarded because in my case speach was affected i took prednisone but im told it provides a placebo effect
hi ya smileyd, just over a year ago after the loss of both of my parents, i woke up one morning and noticed i couldnt move one side of my face, yup, bells palsy, i too still have problems with its effect.. i only hope i NEVER get it again, and that anyone who has it or may get it knows that they arent alone. i also have problems with light on that side of my face as well as twitches and nerve pain!
well, it's good to hear someone tell me they know what the heck i'm talking about. It is the weirdest thing. And I point stuff out to my friends and family and they just don't see it. Thanks for the comments. Appreciate you stopping by. SmileyD
OMG my right eye droops too, not sure why, but it always has... I REALLLLLLLY notice it in photos, most people don't. No clue if I had bells palsy, but I have a heart condition with so many symptoms, I might not have noticed a few extras lol... man im glad u said that eye thing, i tell people that ALL THE TIME, no one sees it but me, ugh lol
SMILEY!! LONG TIME NO TALK!?!?! haha wow It's been awhile since I've commented sorry..haha I can tell it's been very long since I have started UPLOADING VIDS! haha I still can't believe I'm actually uploading! GREAT VID I'm kinda lucky I haven't gotten Bells Palsy haha
My dad is going through something that has the exact same symptoms BUT the found a lesion near his brain stem...could it still be bells palsy
