Also, Dave had some serious star power, even back then! He just walks on stage and waves, and the crowd cheers! Could work on the dancing, but I guess that was the style back then...
I totally love seeing these older clips which helps to show how much they have developed and changed. Yet, they still don't completely forget where they came from. This song seems so goofy and totally awesome simultaneously. Who am I kidding, I love it. Fletch looks terrified. lol
True, Fletch just stares glassily at the audience when he's not playing. But then on the right, Alan's playing ridiculously complex things without breaking a sweat... just a difference of ability I suppose.
w0w... it was actually this day in Dublin's National Stadium on south circular road in 82 i first "seen" depeche , i remember i was waiting outside and seen their little bus roll up, alan & fletch i remember chatted to the few that were outside early, i was only 10 and lived down the road, i waited outside for as long as i could while gig was on and listened to most of the song's... jesus flashbacks..... :)
Unlike U2 Depeche have developed so much that they have been through 4 or 5 completely different periods. I like more what they were doing later but udertand your opinion..
--The first I heard Depeche Mode, It was 1988 or so. I wish I had heard them years earlier. I like pretty much every member of DM (minus Andy, though, I wish him best of luck in life), but Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder are my faves...Gods of the synthesizer. They really stand out.
I agree with you man. but let's not forget Dave coz his voice is another factor for DM's success. martin is also good but to much dominant in the group thats why Allan left.
Not sure why you had to dismiss Andy...so you don't even like the guy? He has been a DM founder and member forever and I met him in Dallas and he was super nice so at least like the guy!
Oh my god! Never seen that before! But listened to it a million times.. How cute they were, so young so fresh - my secret garden is one of their best songs! GEIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a great, great song. One of DM's best, and shamelessly undermined. Nice to see those insecure, young faces on the stage. Wilder is wildly missed, from my point of view.
God Bless Depeche Mode.

I think this is the best arrangement for a live song from Depeche Mode. Incredible intro!
