Lockers wouldent have helped you our once you got stuck you were spinning all four. They mught have helped during your charge though and got you through it.
i dont think theyll be stuck for long...surrounded by trees and they have a tractor jack. kinda like wen my neighbor got his lifted hd stuck in the marsh...sitting on the chassis. after 5 hours finally found sum1 with a jack and we had him out in 10 minutes. the jeep he was trying to yank ddnt have a chance after the tide came in...
I don't have this problem or lockers. But with 350 hp in a 1966 bronco mud holes like that one just kinda pass under me. Some times I actually miss the challenges of stock wheeling, it was almost....more fun.
@BensHerps I'm pretty sure they are an upgrade to your differential in which the wheels rotate at the same speed no matter what, whereas with a regular differential the wheels rotate at different speeds when you are turning or whatnot. I may be wrong though
@nightlighton But they aren't as good in the mud because they have a longer wheel base. Shorter the wheel base the better. I know that because I have a 97 zj, stock right now. And the guys in the yj and tj with 31 do a lot better only because of wheel base
Only reason anybody would say the 4 door is only built for the road has never had one, longer wheel base helps a lot on the rocks, lift it 4 inches with 37 inch tires.Rubicons come with lockers front and rear plus electric swaybar disconnect. Also sliders on the side for the rocks.
I love it when people say lockers are over-rated. Just means they've never had one. If you have open diffs then at best you have 1 front and 1 rear tire spinning (basically, 2 wheel drive...lol) One-tire-fire won't get you anywhere. Best bang for your buck four wheeling is to put a locker in the rear, then buy a winch and you've got an instant trail hero. But life really gets fun when you're locked up F&R.
silly statement since all 3 visible tires were spinning, and judging by the wheel speed of the passenger front, I'd say all 4 were spinning at least some of the time.
my dad has a 2010 yamaha big bear 400 with diff lock. i have a 1995 polaris magnum 425. his has 10.5" ground clearance mine has 6". he has rode atvs longer than i, he tried 15 times at 1 mud hole with lockers. i tried 1 time and went right through it???
If you're trying to say that unlocked is better than locked, you're smoking crack. 4 wheels pulling is ALWAYS better than 2 wheels pulling. Always. If you truly made it through like you say, you picked a different line. Never is an open diff or LSD better than lockers, never.
@surplusowner92, JK= Jeep King, TJ= Trailing Jeep, YJ= Yuppie Jeep, and CJ= Civilian Jeep. Or should I say, CJ is the only true answer, the rest nobody knows the truth.
lockers don't do anything in the mud, a limited slip will spin all fours becuase there is no torque or tension on any of the tires. lockers help when rockin or trailin becuase a lot of the time one tire will be floating or easier to spin then the other. lockers elimite this and spin both or all fours equally.

@BensHerps they lock both wheels together. so you dont have one wheel spinning and the other just sitting there. they help alot.

Then who is the "somebody yelling back there"? Must have been some one trespassing on your private property since you all didn't know who they were.

I see room to the left of the road.I would not have followed the same route that everyone who got stuck took.WHat sense does that make? NONE.
