In Armageddon i love the black guy sitting there talking about the explosions because notice he never dies in the movie and hes like WHOA LOOK AT THOSE EXPLOSIONS
@TheFullthrottleOwnag I'm no Director, but I'd guess that it's probablly because there are so many people in New York that the large concentration of people in one area makes the events that take place there even more deadly and catastrophic. That's just a guess, though.
I find it funny that all natural disasters always target major cities and locations. lol. District 9 was the only realistic aspect of the disaster theme in that it happened in a lesser known location.
y is london never destroyed? cos theres lotsa cool stuff 2 blow up there, houses of parliament, london eye, the fancy place next to the london eye, the big dildo building, buckingham palace, westmister cathedrel, tower bridge etc etc
London gets destroed too! Movie examples: V for Vendetta, Fantastic Four: Rise of Silver Surfer, 2012, and umm... I guess you're right! London doesn't get destroyed that much! But was really pisses me off is that Seattle Never gets destoyed in any movies. EVER!
i guess its because new york has the most known landmarks in the world. everybody on the planet recognizes the brooklyn bridge, empire state building, statue of liberty etc :-)
that movie was pretty crappy but exciting at the same time, i live in New York so every time they have movies here i always try to see if i recognize the place :D
I love movies when the cities are being destroyed!
But it is also a pity to watch such awesome buildings going down.. Like the Empire State Building or the Chrysler Building.. But they're always targeting those two! :P
finally someone thinks the same way in the core san francisco gets distroyed indapenice day dc gets distoryed as well as houston but you dont see much of that idk why knowone does chicago its the 3rd largest in the city it has alot of land marks i mean theres so much you can do with the sears tower alone
It was confirmed by the movie makers that the monster came from a Japanese company, the same company that the main character was going to work for so his friends throwed him a going away party. At the end of the movie in the carnival scene you can see that company's satellite crashing into the sea, that was also confirmed by the movie makers. For once in their lives they're actually telling us stuff and not leaving their creations in complete mystery like they did with Lost.
Oh my... Deep Impact, Independence Day, Armagedon, Gozilla... This is getting way to boring, they are always destroying the same buildings, the same city and the killing the usual population of Manhattan ... Why don't they try destroying Rio Berlin, Buenos Aires instead... or at least The Bronx ;)
Because New York is the most recognised city in the world. Even a 4 year old knows that the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building is in New York.
New York always gets drestroyed becuase it's one of the largest cities in the world. Everyone in the world knows about New York - with its distinct landmarks and skyscrapers... so it brings strong feelings to people when they see this great city gets destroyed, guess that's why so many movies directors use it.
it dose along with Los Angeles but i think we can disotry more great citys in america like miamai or chicago boston ect ect cause i can only see ny getting distroyed so many times that it gets kinda boring after awile
Cloverfield doesn't show any NY landmarks being destroyed, only thing close is the Statue of Liberty's head being thrown into the downtown area. Even if I did put it in, it wouldn't be as exciting.
it doesn't really show any Landmarks being destroyed(besides the SoL, BB and Woolworth) but you do see the Chrysler and Grand Central in the movie but the City does get destroyed in the end.
Why is it that only taxis die in Armageddon?

Well what with every member of parliament being in cahoots with corruption charges, do we want to recognize it for now?
