yeah the problem I see here is that any contact from the knife is apparently considered a "win" while none of the nunchuk hits are considered a win even when they land before the knife...its pretty easy to keep moving forward and striking when you aren't actually being struck by the force of a real set of nunchaku....but if his arm was shattered would he react the same?

explain fully instead of paraphrasing wtf? i train knife and nunchaku at ninjitsu. i understand both weapons. and i don't get how you can 'win' before attacking, unless you mean it in some abstract sense. my definition of winning is not dying at the end. knife fighting isn't about winning anyway, it's about not ending up dead.

It's so easy to beat people chucks vs knives. The chucks have much more range than the knife. This kid keeps aiming to hit the hand with the knife in it first but he should just hit the guy in the face to daze him and then knock out the knife.

nunchucks have range on the knife wielder. The guy using the nunchucks never steps into his attack. you can close nearly 15 feet in a second. one hit to the hand, elbow, wrist, or head and the knife is going to be on the ground or the arm holding the knife will be unusable. the trick is to not fear the knife.

el nunchaku es de goma que chanta el video . si fuera un nunchaku metálico , aseguro que no se acercaría ni a un metro y si asi fuera despues de recibir un golpe en el rostro no volvería por otro. yo los uso para defenderme y llevo practicando casi 30 años y nunca me han llegado a tocar y muchas veces al verlos salen corriendo.

Interesante práctica. No podemos juzgar quien tiene la ventaja pues los practicantes no son del mismo nivel. El que maneja el cuchillo tiene mas experiencia que los demás.

Les falta un conocimiento del nunchaku tambien se usa para agarrar y bloquear a tu oponente si me atacaran de esa forma con un cuchillo prefiero inmovilizar la mano atacante y dar un contragolpe con mis antebraso y codo a la cara o bajo la barvilla para nockear recuerden el nunchaku puede ademas de atacar defender en forma simple sin soltar los extremos.

Hay un problema con eso un golpe de nunchaku solo es efectivo si se usa todo el torque del cuerpo para atacar si se mueve el arma con tanta frecuencia el golpe es debil lo que permite al cuchillo entrar en la defensa y el cuchillo al ser de corto alcanse lo pone a la defenciva y no atacaria sabiendo que el nunchaku va a atacar (para atacar el nunchaku deve estar quieto en una pocision y para que el cuchillo entre se debe esquivar el golpe del nunchaku que es facil cuando este usa el torque).

@tonyvalente problems im seeing with this, is chucks need to keep moving and honestly there are no proper guards, nor do i see any type of defence which is taught from chucks. My schools weapon is chucks, but i think the true potential of chucks is to use the mobility and speed of the wielder to get in a proper strike or five. A person with great hands but lousy footwork isnt going to be as good as a person with outstanding footwork with okay hands. This is just my take on this video

It takes great skill to use nunchaku i stydied okinawan kobudo and i practiced kata. My teacher is personal student of master Tadashi Yamashita. He has used nunchaku techniques against real knife attacks. But he is very skillful. From what i see hear there is no skill

That being said, nunchaku users have to move a lot to keep distance to knife users. Should not move in a line but in circle so nunchaku users can still create distance and efficiently counter attack a knife stab.

2- Nunchaku users when holding the chuck will automatically attack the opponents' head, which make their move easy to be predicted, also their opponent can close up distance. Instead, he can attack in the hand (with knife or without is OK), in the knee, that would work better.

Yeah first of all this is a good practice to really improve technique, speed and learn some experience for your real combat situation. We are doing exactly the same thing at home so I love to see you guys doing this.

Anyway, let me give some constructive comments:

1- Nunchaku fighter will find himself more difficult to fight with a guy using a knife in a narrow area. Nunchaku users needs space to work with, while knife users stay close to the target.

Tr that in a real fight, you'll get stabbed, the nunchaku guy should utilize his speed and superior reach, he might want to move around a bit more, that being said, the knife guy might just be more experienced

No todos los nunchaku golpe puede detener al enemigo. Por lo tanto, una persona con un cuchillo tiene la oportunidad de entrar en un abrazo, donde el cuchillo de forma más eficaz.
