@WormCathedral Its been true that the death egg in Sonic 2 was supposed to have 3 zones to it and have the third a final boss as seen in this video. But due to limitations the SEGA Genisis has, the game couldn't handle any more levels level graphics.

I loved Silver Sonic, he was a not the best boss in the game but great at the same time. I think it's safe to say he paved the way for Metal Sonic :D

Ahh nostalgia...For me this stage proves how much you can maintain your composure,versus 2 not so easy to destroy bosses,without any rings.Really,these days the Sonic games are a mere shadow of what the series was on the MD.Sonic 1 through Sonic & Knuckles all of them are damn good games.Of course along with many other game titles that is :)

@Jugglebrosjr2 Its because the HUD uses the same pallet as the boss. To make the boss flash, they rapidly change the pallet.

I'm sure they could have easily fixed it some way or another, but they probably left it like that cause it gives you strong reinforcement that you're actually doing something

I don't know if anybody notices this, but metal sonic does the exact same thing every time you battle him. First he rolls, then he charges, then he charges again, then he jumps, then he charges, then he charges again, then he jumps and shoots spikes everywhere, and then I usually kill him.

This boss was actually hard when you fought it with knuckles because he can't clear the hand spikes (I just do a spin dash jump under his hands :D ) also, does anyone recall that one song in the sound test that is NEVER heard through out the game? It's a very sad melody, that's all I can remember.

@Ratbagcath Because he was scared shitless, Sonic had managed to destroy every single machine he invented to kill him so far and his spin attack is basicaly like a large Chainsaw flying towards him that will severe him in 2. He used every last energy of his donuts to run that short distance at the same speed as sonic.

@Ichorid4 no it ain't, this is super easy if your sonic but if your knuckles it is hard, also Sonic 4 has much more powerful versions of older bosses and PLEASE this death egg has 2 bosses while sonic 4 has 5 bosses at the egg station so if you have no rings, it is nearly impossible, lastly the final boss has to take 35 hits to kill.

It is tricky to get the hang of, but eventually you do work around the collision detection issues the final boss in Sonic 2 is plagued with, and better get a handle on where / when you can/can't hit. It is a pain in the ass, compared to Sonic 4's version.
