Joey Chitwood had the best clowns by far.Even better than Barnum Bailey circus. When I was a little kid back in the early 60's,always looked forward seeing Joey Chitwood Thrill Show and the clowns every year! Always laughed when the clown sat down on the ramp reading the newspaper, then stands up when the car goes by him.
...what an absolute HOOT it would be for experts such as yourselves to plan an intervention - at Dave's Farm (Darwin has made some recent appearances there)! May I suggest a 'Redneck Rescue'?!
I was a Chitwood driver (and also their chief mechanic from 1967 to 1976) Then Hollywood stunt driver to 2009 I am also co-producer of a online television site.
i wish they still had these shows at fairs. i don't know how many chitwood shows i have seen, but i loved them all. i know my son who is 10 yrs. old would eat this stuff up if he could see a show.
the shows were great they in the shows later years a friends brother talked to tim chitwood after a show and got a job with the thrill show. he said it was an awesome experience
Darren, thanks for providing this extra footage from the Helldrivers Movie. I still have one of those cannon truck toys and the shirt to go with it. I think is cool that Joie was interested in, even excited about, talking about how we grew up. It laid a foundation for how we look at the world around us, what we see in our country, and what we believe is possible to accomplish in this nation. See the movie.
