@jrlesa08 I find it ironic that you believe this scripture passage of the New Testament to be true, considering it was the Catholic Church that gave it to you. The Catholic Church defined the canon of the New Testament in 393 AD at the Council of Hippo. You Mormons accept the New Testament exactly as the Catholic Church defined it. It is so contradictory for you to say the Catholic Church fell totally apostate, yet they were somehow able to infallibly determine the canon of the New Testament.
@jrlesa08 To add, since it was the Catholic Church that infallibly determined the canon of the Bible, it makes sense that the Catholic Church is the only Church that can infallibly interpret it. The Bible came from the Church, the Church did not come from the Bible. Jesus founded a Church, not the Bible. Also, the Catholic Church preserved the Bible over the years. If it were not for the Catholics, you would not have a Bible, or a "church" for that matter.

So Holland is basically saying that the one of the reasons the church is true is because Joseph Smith died for it? He must really think we are stupid.
Did you not listen? That is not all he said. He said why would Joseph Smith make this up when it would cause for him and many others to be driven out of their homes, for children not to have friends, and if necessary, to die for this truth.
@koloblicioius so you're basically saying after hearing about 50 different factual evidences supporting the church, all you got out of this talk is Holland wants you to think the church is true because Joseph Smith died for it? I really think you're stupid.
God will not usually confirm the truthfulness of something to us with a "slap upside the head" unless he deems it necessary to do so. For the majority of us he expects us to persevere and push forward with faith, to keep praying, and reading the scriptures for answers. After we have done our part he will reveal the truth to us softly with the Spirit. Our bosoms will burn within us and we will feel within our hearts that it is true. But it comes very softly the majority of the time. Be ready
I am so grateful to have a prophet today who gives us council, guidance, and direction that comes directly from the Lord, meant for all of us in these Latter days. I am grateful for the impact that the Book of Mormon has had on my life. I have never felt happier than when I have followed the teachings that come from the Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible. They work together so perfectly and it is fantastic to finally have the full truth and not have to put up with things being misconstrued.
God does have an efficient way of spreading the gospel. People just choose to harden their hearts because they don't want to know the truth. Because if they found out it is true then they would have to change their lives. But a lot of people just don't want to do that. So then they try holding on to any negative thing that goes against truth so they can have an excuse not to accept it. But it will catch up with them. You can trust me on that. You can't hide forever.
Joseph Smith knew he was going to die. He knew what would happen when he went to Carthage. But he also knew that he had done the work that the Lord had sent him to do, and that he would be saved. He absolutely knew what was going to happen.
All I can say, is that if a person really wants to know the truth, they should stop being lazy and making wrongful assumptions, and instead go and search for the truth by actually reading the Book of Mormon and then sincerely pray about it to know if it is true. If a person isn't willing to do this then they have no room to speak. I have done it and have found the truth out for myself. I have followed teachings from the Book of Mormon and have partaken of the blessings that have come from it.
Acts 3: 19-23 is referring to times past - not times present. Amos-god gave him a vision to warn those that would harm his people. Amos 8:11-12 nobody had an appetite for Gods word when amos spoke it, God would take away the oppurtunity to even hear it, The answers are in the Bibles scriptures. I' don't think you understood them quite right. There is nothing indicating that Gods words are lost or needed to be rstored...what are you smoking?
@JSeely218 - What do you remember about the Famine which was caused by Elijah? How many years? How does a Famine coincide with the loss of Truth/ loss of prophets? It's also mentioned a lot in Daniel and Revelations. The Apostasy was CONSTANTLY mentioned of both in the OT and NT but your interpretations seem to wrest the scriptures... 2 Peter 1: 19-20
@THELDSLIFE Apostasy is mentioned in the Bible, but it never mentions a total apostasy of Christ's Church. Also, your cult is hypocritical for even accepting the Bible, considering it was the infallible authority of the Catholic Church that determined what books of the New Testament were inspired and what weren't at the Council of Hippo in 393 AD. You Mormons accept the canon of the New Testament exactly as the Catholic Church defined it, at a time when the Church was supposedly totally apostate
@THELDSLIFE No it isn't. Read the chapter in context. The apostasy mentioned in Amos was an apostasy in Israel, not in Church (not after NT time), and it was NOT total. Read Amos 9:8-10, it proves it wasn't total. Total apostasy is never mentioned in the Bible, in fact the Bible speaks against a total apostasy. Read Daniel 7:13-14, Ephesians 3:20-21, Matthew 18:15-18, and John 17:20-21.
There is no where in the new testement that states that prophets were still needed after Christ was sacrificed, give me 1 (one) verse that says that prophets were still required after Christ died for you and me!. @JSeely218 - Acts 3: 19-23 is a fantastic indication that the Lord would continue using his method for revealing lost truth in the latter-days. Read and re-read this one.
Look up key words like, "Restitution" and learn what it means in contexts 'Restitution of ALL THINGS"
Then read Amos 3:7. In Amos we learn the necessity of having prophets or not... and through what means the Lord would reveal certain truths or anything missing.
Also read Amos 8:11-12. (The truth would be lost to the world.)

But under the light of continuing revelation and God's continuance with Israel and it's gathering, I would prefer to be no other place than amongst those of Modern Israel.

Besides trying to provide shelter, the church's primary focuses are establishing a bishop's storehouse to store and distribute provisions and aiding in employment opportunities.
The LDS Church has property and plans to build a bishop's storehouse in Haiti, but the Freres neighborhood land is still housing some 360 homeless, with the meetinghouse grounds now clear of temporary residents.
The church has since hired a local building contractor to oversee future efforts while continuing to donate to other NGOs, such as International Relief and Development, which is building multi-shelter communities on open properties.
Soon after Haiti's quake, the LDS Church began its blitz of food and relief supplies and sent its first-ever volunteer team of doctors and nurses — 14 specializing in trauma, orthopedics and emergency care — to provide early response medical aid.
This is evidence that Joseph Smith translated this book vs wrote it. If Joseph wrote it, proper English = "Turn my back against it." vs a phrase such as, "Set my back towards"
(An authentic Egyptian Phrase, BTW)
No where in the Bible does it read one sets his back towards the land he chooses to no longer visit..." and it's not proper English.
I love the Gospel. I am grateful for my Saviour Jesus Christ and for what he has done for me. The Church is true and those mocking will have to stand before their Father in Heaven and the very man who died for them! Although im not anywhere near perfect and make mistakes I would dread having to meet them after mocking!! Oh how guilty you will feel!!!!
I testify that the Book of Mormon is of divine origin and all mankind shall be judged by the testimony it gives. Its coming forth was in fact foretold in the Bible in Isaiah 29:11-12; by foretelling the conversation between Martin Harris & Professor Charles Anthon documented in [THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE] Joseph Smith History 1:63-65.
And now I, Moroni, bid farewell unto the Gentiles, yea, and also unto my brethren whom I love, until we shall meet before the judgment-seat of Christ, where all men shall know that my garments are not spotted with your blood.
And then shall ye know that I have aseen Jesus, and that he hath talked with me face to face, and that he told me in plain humility, even as a man telleth another in mine own language, concerning these things; Ether 12:38-39
Are we just supposed to believe it without recognizing the sacrifices of the Jews?
Has anyone tried to reclaim them?
Are we more blessed than they?
Or are we just supposed to all come to the same conclusion logically that "Jesus Christ" died, came back to life, and played "Peekaboo" with his disciples for 40 days?
Has the Holy Ghost confirmed to you with it's still-small-voice that the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is not true ?? Fifteen-million of us will testify to you that we KNOW it is true, and nothing you ever say will change our minds. The Holy Ghost has written it in our hearts forever ! I'm so grateful for my testimony !
Hey guy. I was playing devil's advocate with (Iqlusionblogspot) ... lol
I have a testimony of the Gospel. I was trying to make a point! *chuckles* but I'm glad to see I have a friend in the 15 million able to back me up! (view some of my other videos and you'll see I don't always play devil's advocate but I also take on Satan and expose him for the fraud that we all should THINK he is)
The absence of a response from God after years of praying that he would tell me how to "fix" my gradually failing testimony is suggests to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not true.
You say "we KNOW it is true, and nothing you ever say will change our minds" which nicely sums up your interest in the truth.
In contrast, If God unmistakably told me the LDS Church was true, I would re-convert without the slightest hesitation. You see, the truth matters very much to me.
Well, I don't seek very hard any more, but frankly, I'd welcome any communication from God. I'm open to the truth, so if I'm wrong about the LDS Church, I hope God sets me straight ASAP.
My interest in the truth is of the utmost importance, and I'm glad it is for you also. The response you seeked is only available to those who become humble and offer the Lord a 'broken heart and a contrite spirt'. Also one must first be obedient 'as if' the gospel is true, only later does the reward of a confirmation from the Holy Ghost come. That's the way it's been for me anyway. I wish I could help you.

"... and I was in this land and they would not receive me, but they cast me out and I was about to set my back towards this land forever."
Alma 8:24 -
This is evidence that Joseph Smith translated this book vs wrote it.

@THELDSLIFE I know, people don't seem to get that the English portrayed here is way outdated.

No amount of sacrifice or suffering for a doctrine makes the doctrine true.
iqlusionblogspot 2 years ago
That makes the doctrine of Christ true?

Do you seek after signs from heaven?
THELDSLIFE 2 years ago
Well, I don't seek very hard any more, but frankly, I'd welcome any communication from God. I'm open to the truth, so if I'm wrong about the LDS Church, I hope God sets me straight ASAP.
Still waiting...

We are late into the final seconds before Christ's return... now would be a great time to get things set straight.

@iqlusionblogspot did you ring? There ain't gonna be no communication about the truthfulness of this trap...
awolLDSasap 1 year ago
My interest in the truth is of the utmost importance, and I'm glad it is for you also. The response you seeked is only available to those who become humble and offer the Lord a 'broken heart and a contrite spirt'. Also one must first be obedient 'as if' the gospel is true, only later does the reward of a confirmation from the Holy Ghost come. That's the way it's been for me anyway. I wish I could help you.
