The Islamic influence can be heard in Bohemian Rhapsody. A classmate of Freddie from Zanzibar said when he first heard Bohemian Rhapsody he immediately associated it with the call of the Muezzin to prayer. This classmate had no clue Freddie Mercury was his former classmate 'Bucky" Farook Bulsara.
@THEWORLD116 Do you mean throwing rocks at women? Don't you remember he lie with other men as well? Check out the destruction of Khan if you want to see this song put to good use!
people always love meaningful songs but this song makes no sense at all, fred lived among muslims for many years and this affected him to sing this song thats all,he just shout and say loudly mussttaaphaaaa,,ibrahimmmmm,,,hahahaaaaa......lolll
Freddie was Parsi . Parsi people are originally from Persia ( Iran just in case you didn't know ) and are Zoroastrains that migrated to India . And if someone had a talent he/she should be praised for the talent and how they used it not where the person is from .
Excellent photoshop, my friend. Certaintly, Freddy was zoroastrian, the first monotheist religion in history, but it borned in the arabic cultures, and is the mother of the three big monotheist religions of today. And the song, since the title (Mustapha -Ibrahim-), until it says everytime "Allah", is obviously arabic. Finally: You did a great job "magnetikuz". Congrats :)

Freddie was not Hindu,Jewish, nor Muslim. His ethnicity was Parsee,His religious upbringing was Zoroastrian, and His Nationality was British Indian. This song is not in Arabic,It's not any language it's just Freddie's improv.
@iFrizzy157 Considering Freddie's sexual orientation and Islam's bigoted views of homosexuality ... you'd better not mention these two in the same sentence. If Freddie lived in an Islamic country he'd most probably end up dead as the Quran commands.
Freddie Mercury = Talent not of this world! Beautiful! JAZZ was my first QUEEN album. I remember buying it when it came out in November '78 and getting blown out of my sneakers when the heavy part comes in @ 1:17. Loved QUEEN and Freddie ever since! Four VERY talented musicians!
@MichalFokt Freddie wasn't islamic, so I don't know what he would feel. He was born on zanzibar and he practiced zorastrian fate that has little to do with islam.
@winnetouch I know that he was zoroastrian, he even had the funeral led by zoroastrian priest. But I also know that in the countries where this religion is practiced, the islam dominates, and, given to the fact that there were several songs with islamic motifs ("Bismillah" in Bohemian Rhapsody, and this song), I think that Freddie was maybe a bit influenced.
What his religion, sexual preference, or subset of humanity-that wasn't part of who the public performer was. the 4 members of Queen worked so well together that there wasn't any egotism over who wrote what. His band mates shielded him from the press as much as they could, and even when they toured--no one else has ever been a member of Queen.
@hardmod777 From my knowledge, Islam condemns homosexuality as being hateful in the sight of God and punishable by death. But Freddie wasn't Muslim. He was Zoroastrian. Still, however, I believe it's why he didn't go out in public to confirm he was gay. His sister said that he was embarrassed to tell his parents who were strict Zoroastrians. His sister knew he was gay but they didn't discuss it.
@hardmod777 Freddie is revered in Iran a country where they hang homosexuals. His music is sold and a big seller in bazaars and markets. You can Google it. Iran is the land of his forebearers. Zoroastrians who escaped to India from Persia.
@Savalanoghlu Probably not. My apologies Iranian culture is revered and respected around the world. (various Persian empires etc) Many praise the beauty of your women. Peace to all and respect to all religions.
Shit to all that people who lives cursing the arabs and the muslims and jewish people. They must Learn to aprecciate what´s good in both cultures and they ´ll be rich. Hatred and intolerance makes people ugly, sick and old. Thanks you to you and Freddy because he didn ´t forget where he cames from, and he shows it in this powerfull and hipnotic song, reflecting the ancient charm of arab culture.
What I mean to say is that mindless cliches like 'hate is bad' are so fucking empty that it makes me wretch. The whole of the world, with all its complexities of history, culture, economics, stratification, and you widdle it down to "shit to all people who curse".
It's a lovely song that tries to derive from some arabic sounds. That's all. Leave politics out of it; it's clearly above you
Think about it. Could any other singer pull this off? Freddie is, in a way, paying an hommage to the sounds of his youth. He must have heard these sounds thousands of times. This music was part of Freddie and we saw and heard very little from Freddie's younger years. Just enjoy what he does with the song, the sounds, the feeling the words give you. Stop thinking race and religion and let the beauty of the music wash over you.
@poochickenone Yes, I know Freddie was Zoroastrian but I was replying to someone who asked if Freddie was Jewish or not and I said he was a Parsi. A Parsi is a member of the larger of the two Zoroastrian communities in South Asia, the other being the Irani community.
Freddie was Zoroastrian. But was raised around all kinds of Religion, Christianity (his song JESUS) on Queen I, Mustapha for Muslims and Crazy little thing Called Love for Pontiac Dealers.
Just lost a bit more respect for England and its hardly none English race now. Such a shame for a once powerful race, to be taken over by the whole of Asia. Goodbye England and goodbye to freedom and money!
@fearevil, your use of the word "race" (instead of, say, "people") says it all... But the English were once so powerful that they became a victim of their own success. We live in a global community now, and the English played a large part in history so things could be this way. So, if now all societies are multicultural and multiethnic, don't complain. First, you started it. Second, it's a good thing. Third, it's irreversible. And fourth, if you can't adapt, you'll be just swept away by history.
It is a common misconception that Freddie Mercury was Arabic. He was in fact Zoroastrian. This song can be interpreted as having many meanings. The most believable is that Freddie was just having fun on stage. However it is widely believed that he was making a joke about how many people believed that he was Arabic, when he was Zoroastrian. The third and least believed possibility is that the song was about one of his childhood friends. Whatever you believe, it is a great song.
Long time ago ancient Persian people escape from Persia when Muslims invaded Persia. (Later, they name it Iran). Why did Persian people escape?Because Muslims wanted they converted to Islam, but ancient Persian people were devoted Zarathustra's followers, so they prefered to leave their land. So, Freddie haven't Muslim origin at all but a Persian one. Remember that he was born to a Persian (Parsi) family from India, but he haven't Indian genes. However, he loved Indian food!
if you want to do the world a favour please don't use arabs and muslims interchangably. although the arabs began the religion there are over one billion muslims- only 300 million are arabs. also take note about ten percent or 30 million are christian too.
Who cares if he was a zoroaster or trisexuel etc. He was a good singer and musician and that's the main reason why I listen to his music (and Queen's)
