  • girls kick

  • shame mercer couldn't maybe try a few low kicks to catch his opponent by surprise

  • it was obviously a bias decision coz mercer got some preety decent punches on musashi which obviously hurtmusashi and the only thing musashi did to him was some kicks which had next to no effect on mercer

  • mercer almost had him at 3.10 if mercer was about 15 years younger he would ko this guy for shore

  • Mercer... learn to check a low kick if your going to fight k-1 ok? and ray's arm is probably broken.

  • Ray was too afraid of what was coming to even get started. He tried to turn it into a scrap and that didn't even work. Gotta hand it to the guy though, he's pretty tough for hanging in there and absobing all those heavy kicks.

  • This is a great example of how boxers can't just come into kickboxing. Mercer would have destroyed Mushashi in a regular Western boxing match.

  • @SeanOMatic There's a lot of kickboxers who'd knock Ray Mercer out with their hands if you can believe it or not, Musashi isn't exactly good. A, C level Kickboxer at best whooping decorated boxing champion. Kickboxers don't win "just because of kicks" but I know a boxer outboxes a kickboxer as does a kickboxer out strike a boxer.

  • @TreyMMA

The thing about kickboxing is you can use Muay Thai, Karate, etc. and boxers are so limited in their striking selection that a boxer vs. kickboxer is really a mismatch when a kickboxer can use all weapons. The best boxer will beat any kickboxer in a regular boxing match, of course.

  • @SeanOMatic exact, same in mixed martial arts, manny pacquiao isn't going to outstrike the guys standind that primarly use their hands too because its just not the same kind of boxing. Sameway olympic wrestlers get throw around by guys who didn't even wrestle in highschool, or guys without a belt in jiu jitsu submit guys with third degree black belts. But in their own respects, they will almost undoubtidly dominate.

  • The gloves limit ko for punches to a large extent.

  • @pryor699 The gloves limit ko power for punches.

  • se o japones não pudesse usar os chutes o ray mercer venceria facilmente

  • got to give credit to Ray, he took so many leg kicks and was able to last all rounds.

  • Lol 4:13 Mercer takes a bad leg kick he's like fuck it and just slams the mofo to the ground hahaha.

Mercer isn't using his legs at all, why fight a kickboxing match if you haven't trained your legs?

  • @undeadpresident For the paycheck.

  • FAKE !!! A load of CHINKY ASS SHIT. You must be stupid.

  • I have hell a lot of respect for Mercer! But I have to say Musashi was brilliant in this fight. He did what he have to do, smartly avoiding Mercer's punch.

  • ray mercer was an old school badass . respect to merciless mercer

  • Vitaly Klitchko was Kickboxer before becoming Boxer..... A amueter at that.... And loook at him now..... Just saying.....

Imagine what Overeem would do in Boxing?

  • mercer should have atleast prepared and learned how to check lowkicks lol

  • @giovannialvarez Good point.

  • YA BRING A FAT OLD HAS BEEN WASHED UP REJECT BOXER INTO K1 TO PROVE THAT KICKBOXING IS BETTER? NO WAY! THIS JUST PROVES THAT MERCER IS A DISGUSTING SHADOW OF WHAT HE WAS AND WHO WILL DO ANYTHING FOR A LITTLE PAY CHECK. HE IS A FRAUD.

  • @coolkilla34 well fucking said!!

  • *once legend

  • You have to realize that when they fought, Mercer was 10 years + past his prime while Musashi was in the middle of his. In boxing, they come out slow and use the first round or to as a warm up. Mercer treated this fight as a boxing match and severly underestimated a hard leg kick. UFC and K-1 bring one legend now bum boxers and set them up with a mix match style that doesn't let them open up and show how much better their hand skills are. Imagine a prime Mike Tyson vs Musashi... 1st round KO

  • @Megain5pounds It's not UFC and K1's fault that the prime boxers are too scared to step up. If Pac or Mayweather want to step up, I'm sure either league would be happy to give them a shot.

  • @pearcemark2 omg your a dumb ass mother fucker you are, its not nuffin to do with being sgared of them, its all to do with money, and boxers earn more than ufc and k1, and the best boxers like tyson earned more than all of them put together, why fight someone if the moneys not right, if the moneys not right they wont fight another boxer let alone k1 or ufc

  • @SugerRaySaunderz Which is the problem with boxing. It's not about the competition, the glory, the honor, loving the battle. It's all about "GOTTA GET DAT PAPER YO"

  • @pearcemark2 Of course it is. Fighting causes injury and eventually long term damage to your body. I would rather be a boxing champ than MT or MMA. Ive trained all three, MT for the longest, then boxing and only like a year and a half of MMA. I like Boxing best, even though MT is fun too, but there is no money and not much glory in it (people wont recognize you, whereas youre more likely to be if you box). So yeah.. the injuries.. hospital bills, you could lose your job. Besides I never liked

  • @pearcemark2 the whole rolling around with another sweaty men. I didnt like the smell of it, nor the whole feeling his sweaty body against me. Call me a homophobe if you want, but it's just not for me. I reckon I wouldnt do bad in MMA, being that I have superior hands to most mma fighters at the level I would be fighting at, probably superior muay thai too (I did it from 13 to just after my 21st birthday) and my groundgame is decent enough to keep me on my feet or help me get back up. But I

  • @pearcemark2 prefer Boxing to all 3. The thing is I prefer punching people (And kicking them) than trying to slap on submissions or smothering them or them smothering me). And due to the fact that I would destroy most opponents standing up, they would obviously keep trying to wrestle me, and I cant stand that shit. It disgusts me. If others like it, good for them, each their own, but I dont.

  • @k4n31985 HAHAHAHA what a butthurt sissy. You suck at wrestling and grappling and you act SHOCKED that someone in mixed martial arts would attack your weakness. Hilarious.

    Who is "A Sylvia"?

LMFAO @ thinking that 8 months of wrestling training would allow you to stuff a takedown from an olympic wrestler. Gotta love the delusion of boxing fans.

It's equally as retarded as a wrestler saying "Pffft, give me 8 months of boxing training and I'll kill EVERYONE in boxing!!!!"

  • @pearcemark2 Oh.. I didnt even see that post earlier... a Sylvia is Tim Sylvia.. I could have type "a Tim Sylvia", but was too lazy. But my point was that you have to be more way more athletic, dedicated and HUNGRY to be a world champion boxer and STAY on top, due to the talent pool being MUCH bigger. It's the same with American Football and Football (Soccer). It's easier to get into the NFL than say in a National Team in soccer, let alone the UEFA selection (yes, that exists)

  • @k4n31985 I don't know about that. The 155 division is jam packed with talent right now in MMA. When I think of great boxing right now, the 168 pound division seems to be where it's at, with Manny and Floyd at Welter. Klitschko's rule heavy but nobody even cares at this point.

There are still some weak divisions in MMA but when you look at the current landscape of boxing, you don't exactly have this giant list of amazing prospects. There are some good guys and good fights coming. Not amazing.

  • @pearcemark2 8 months in wrestling is enough to cover the fundamentals in takedown defense and scrambling. You wont surely win any Division A matches, but it's good enough to deal with a lot of mma fighters, especially those who fancy themselves strikers, whereas 8 months in boxing isn't even enough to compete in amateur tournaments and do awesome.... the massively bigger talent pool makes the difference.

  • @pearcemark2 Putting it as simple as I can. If you have someone who has professionally boxed for say 5 years, and you let him work on nothing but wrestling and low kick checking / receiving them for say 8 months (since that example was used earlier) he will be able to compete in the UFC and keep a decent fight record. However if you take someone who was a UFC fighter for 5 years, and give him 8 months to work on nothing but boxing, and then throw him in with top 20 people from his weight class

  • @pearcemark2 which would be similar to being in the UFC; skill wise, as they are the top dogs, they wouldn't survive 3 rounds.

  • @k4n31985 be honest and don't pander to them. a top UFC fighter with a year boxing experience wouldn't last 1 round with the top ranked pro boxers in his weight class. the best boxers usually start at 6-8. that experience can't be made up for, no matter how athletic or hard working someone is. i started boxing at 13 and was lightyears behind the guys who started at 8.

  • @Diomedes22 yeah true.. except Martinez, but he's extremely gifted and a genetic freak, so a one in a billion.. I never said a UFC fighter with a year of boxing experience would last.. they'd get destroyed by a D level fighter and probably even knocked out, by a chump like Alfonso Gomez, probably while he is singing too.

  • @pearcemark2 it has fuck all to do with not wanting honour, glory, loving battle or just wanting money. I just like it better. What's not to understand about that? And you gotta remember the talent pool in Boxing is much larger than in any other combat sport, so it's WAY harder to get to the top and stay there. You have to be a gifted, hard working athlete, whereas in MMA you can become a champion by becoming lucky and getting your shot when a chump who suits your style is champ. A Sylvia i.e.

  • @pearcemark2 So nothing to do with "being scared"... I would bet you everything I own, that if a Miguel Cotto (who by the way wrestled in his youth), a Manny Pacquiao, a Margarito, hell even a fucking Joshua Clottey would train MMA for only ONE year, and mostly focus on checking (and even conditioning their thighs to take) leg kicks and take down defense & scrambling up, they would kill ANYONE in their weight class. Probably wouldnt even need a year but like 8 months would suffice.

  • @k4n31985 If those boxers selectively fought hand picked bums on indian reservations where the rules are twisted to not allow takedowns or kicks or anything but punches, yeah, they would do excellent.

If those boxers trained wrestling for a year and attempted to leap right in to fight GSP, it would end no differently than GSP vs Dan Hardy, GSP vs Thiago Alves, GSP vs BJ Penn.

It would be bell rings, GSP shoots, boxer falls on his back, GSP drops elbows, either TKO or locks on an armbar.

  • @pearcemark2 maybe. But remember if serra can knock out GSP, then all it takes is a well placed jab to the chin by a good pro boxer.

  • @k4n31985 GSP is complete different fighter from back then. He used to fight to finish. Now he fights to not lose.

If you can catch him then maybe you can get something done, but nobody has been able to since then. He's too good at using long distance strikes, he's too good at mixing up strikes with takedowns. He has perfect split second timing in that right when you commit to a strike, he's ready to pounce and put you down. He takes zero chances anymore. Just wants to get a comfortable W.

  • @pearcemark2 Which is exactly why I've quit being a fan. GSP Serra 2 was his last exciting fight, imo. Since then he doesn't fight like a true fighter, a true warrior anymore. He fights safe. He is almost as boring as Koschek now.

  • @pearcemark2 It's why I love Wanderlei. It might not have been ideal for his career, but he always came to fight, not to get an easy W and some money. He came to entertain the fans, which is the fighters' job, and what they are paid to do.

  • @k4n31985 And he'll do it again tomorrow night. He'll probably get knocked out for it, but it'll be great to see him again.

  • @pearcemark2 lately I've only watched UFC sporadically, and I didn't really watch any UFC since Jones beat Shogun. It pisses me off that they let people fight each other with 20 lbs or more in weight difference, due to the prior day weigh ins... its bad enough in boxing if someone outweighs, but much worse in MMA. I know for a fact, because at the gym I trained at I was the only welter weight/ jr. middleweight (my weight always fluctuates between those and I mean boxing classes) and everyone

  • @k4n31985 i agree. boxing is a rough sport. more rough than anyone who hasn't done it can imagine. a washed up boxer over 40 is usually half dead. they can't learn anything new and are healthwise destroyed. you get a boxer in his prime, though, and teach him basic defense against kicks takedowns, etc. then their speed and power, which doesn't exist in other styles, will make them unstoppable. even without any of that a prime mike tyson would have knocked this guy out in 90 seconds. guaranteed.

  • @SugerRaySaunderz Speaking as a boxer can i just point out that its this over emphasis on money (mainly from teh ruthless promoters) that ahs ruined boxing today and made it the slowly declining sport it is now. I hate to say it..i've boxed since i was a kid and i've gradually moved to K1 because im disgusted with the sport of boxing these days. Guys like Bob Arum, Don King, Frank Warren have fucked the sport up with their underhanded double dealing an fighters getting a girly on over cash

  • @SugerRaySaunderz I get it that, its POTENTIALLY a short lived career (or not in the case of guys like Johnson who is , what...46-47 or 48 now), but, its not the same sport it used to be. Guys like Nigel Benn used to get in and get stuck in because it was about BEATING all comers and being the best. Now its all about GREEN. Sickening. Im now fighting in K1 and the ethos surrounding it is better. The rules are simplified to encourage fighters to always go for the KO making for exciting fights

  • sefo'd kill mercer

  • Musashi was awesome. Warrior spirit.

  • Mercer in his prime would have destroyed Musashi in the first round

  • @SquallLeon81 never he is a boxer they die by kickboxers

  • @dromezz

A kickboxer is completed that's true, but I think Musashi cannot take a single punch from a prime Ray Mercer.

Ray Mercer punches were tnt I don't think Musashi has a great chin.

  • @SquallLeon81 i think he can.

  • pussy fucking useless kickboxers using kicks to their advantage. You won't be kicking when Mercer is in the pocket pounding the fuck out your face you cheap bitch.

  • @mercilessMarksmenyeah and? this is a kickboxing not a boxing match. how does using kicks n a KICKBOXING match make you a pussy. when will you boxing fanboys grow up?

  • @SeaOfFate I am simply saying musashi should show respect and know that ray mercer doesn't kick. Any real K-1 fighter with respect like Jerome Le banner would of given Ray Mercer a run for his money and boxed him.

  • @mercilessMarksmen Silly argument. this was a kickboxing match with kickboxing RULES. how can you call someone a pussy for playing their own game? do you think Ray would show the same respect in a boxing match? musashi did what he had to win.

  • @SeaOfFate Still a pussy.

  • @mercilessMarksmen Ahh well Rays a pussy for not throwing any kicKs himself. How does that sound? Silly Boxing fanboys!

  • @SeaOfFate boxers are cocky

  • By the end of that fight, I'm pretty sure Mercer was feelin' those leg kicks. lol. I bet he wasn't able to walk for a week afterwards. Not joking either......he took a rediculous amount of damage to those legs. Mercer is a tough SOB, but Musashi has tree trunks for legs and his kicks are powerful.

  • @mtodd95 Ray is like how old? And how out of shape? This Japanese young guy gave him everything he had, and was in advantage, cause I didn't see mercer kicking, he only had to fear his hands.. Anyway, he gave him everything he had and still couldn't kill him, put Mercer at the same age and it would have been a different fight!

  • massive punishment! ego keeps him standing but he lost all the way.Have respect for that much heart though....

  • @specialforces69 You couldn't make it in prison. Bitch. And I never got stabbed. lol! and I walked the MAIN LINE. Not PC, like lil Wayne.

And the only reason I'm not in the UFC, is because I'm now 38. But I'll still whoop YOUR ass. But that's not a threat. just a fact.

  • @joeblohhh You spent time in prison but you still say shit like "lol", real hard man you are. Randy Couture is 47 years old and in the UFC, stop making excuses and go get yourself a paycheck from Mr. White.

  • @joeblohhh All that sodomizing you went through in prison seemed to have scrambled your brains some, bitch. You 38 year old loser, I live in Norwalk, CA.

  • @joeblohhh 38 and still playing an internet hero and being a racist. You must be proud of yourself.

  • Grappling IS for faggots. By the way... I know how to wrestle AND grapple, and kill too.

    I learned in prison.

I'm not impressed by any special forces crap. I've never been knocked out, neither by foot, by punch nor by bike or car accident (and I've had plenty). My face has been cut and fractured in numerous places. I cannot be subdued. My striking is better than most you will ever see. (think of a Mike Brown) .. He is the only MMA fighter -Aside from Uriah Faber, that I have respect for

  • @joeblohhh do you hold any belt.??????????

the worst and bottom line is the prison.

  • Ray Mercer in his prime woulda killed this fool

  • @BringerOfTheTruth Even in his prime he'd have to deal with getting kicked in the leg.

I've boxed and kick boxed and I'll tell you, one good kick to the thigh changes your whole punching technique. You can't pivot your hips into your punches because you can't plant your leg, and you lose probably half your power.

Straight boxing, Ray Mercer would kill almost everyone in K-1 in the first round and he'd beat everyone else but in kick boxing?? you can't bring a knife to a machete fight.

  • @rrtodd95 I agree with you and this is what i've been saying for years... boxing and kickboxing and mma are all different disciplines, it's pointless saying one is better than the other as each has it's own strengths under their own rules... Common sense says Mercer would destroy Musashi in Boxing, and Musashi would destroy Mercer under k1/kickboxing.

  • @DW01 Musashi didn't destroy him though. Ray lost but he didn't get embarrased, not like his fights against Kimbo and Bonjaski. I thought Ray did pretty good in this fight as old past his prime boxer.

  • @Elthenar I would say that Musashi pretty much destroyed Mercer. He punished him almost every round. Fair enough Mercer lasted awhile but he didn't do particularly well other than that.

  • @rrtodd95 totally agree with you man....... but i think that there are many kickboxers that could compete to top boxers! ...for example, vitali klitschko vas a kickboxer!

  • @croat4ever2 Mike Zambidis was a pretty good amateur boxer. Note AMATEUR. I think he was greek amateur champion, not sure. And he is DESTROYING people with his hands. I say if he dropped down in weight, because Muay Thai fighters and kickboxers are usually tall and lanky, he would be unstoppable. They can only beat him with clinching and kneeing, if they are MUCH taller, other than that they dont stand a chance. So if he drops down to a weigh class that suits his height, he will be unbeatable.

  • @k4n31985 but if he is unbeatable because of his boxing skills, why has he has lost fights in K1? I've been boxing since i was 7...i won some National Ameteur titles in the UK..i also won a lot of bouts for the Royal Navy (though i was actually a Royal Marine we have to box for the Navy) and when i tried K1 i was being blown away purely because everytime i tried to get on the inside which is where im comfortable, my thigh was being smashed with low thai kicks. It destroys your equilibrium.

  • @LCStreetPhotographer I didn't say he is unbeatable. I said if he would drop down in weight, to fight guys with the same reach / height (thus no longer being subjected to the disadvantages in the clinch like against fighters like John Wayne Parr or Buakaw's kneeing and teep kicks) he would very likely be unstoppable. Zambidis has only lost to fighters who utilized their height advantage in the clinch (i.e, JWP & Buakaw) or very close fights against Japanese fighters, and it's no secret that K-1

  • @LCStreetPhotographer judges almost ALWAYS scored for the Japanese fighter in close (or sometimes not close at all) decisions... I wrote two posts, so pls read both.

  • @k4n31985 ray lost all rounds

  • @ageeeeeeeeee I wasn't talking about Ray, but about Mike Zambidis and some of his bouts against Japs.

  • @k4n31985 japs sucks at k1 but ill give him credit

  • @LCStreetPhotographer Who throws low kicks on the inside?

  • @LCStreetPhotographer and I never said he is unbeatable. Learn to read, or stop with the selective reading. I said he WOULD be unbeatable in a lower weight class. He has only ever lost to people who have a good clinching game, cause he is so short and therefore has a huge disadvantage in the clinch/when being kneed

  • @rrtodd95 I started training Muay Thai when I was 13. Just before my 21st birthday I moved to the UK. I did train some more Muay Thai there, but eventually switched to Boxing. My first sparring match was horrible. I was actually frightened. I thought I would destroy the guy, cause Ive done Muay Thai for so long, and he had only trained boxing for like 2 1/2 years. I was wrong. The punches were harder than any Ive ever felt before. And I can still take a leg kick. These days I would easily win MT

  • @rrtodd95 Yeah I know what you mean man if you can't defend the kicks you'll lose your legs and won't be able to KO the opponent. But at the same time a lot of K-1 fighters seem to have very limited head movement and if they're facing a fighter with good hand strikes they'll cover their head up and throw kicks. Then you can use that to hurt them with some body shots and effectively limit their kicking this is a very valuable technique.

  • he is a good boxer...but can't' go to a kickboxing fight with no kicks...

  • This is hard to watch. I gotta give it to Mercer though, even past his prime he doesn't give up. I'm not a huge boxing fan but when it comes to going the distance these guys are really tough.

  • @MarshalNey13 Except when Mercer fought Remy Bonjasky and gave up after eating one headkick

  • @LiNaK37

True. I forgot about that weird match.

  • Good throw @4:20

  • Respect to Ray but Boxers that come to K1 or Muay Thai get slaughtered...

  • ray mercer has balls lol he sucks now if it was him when he fought lennox this would have been very different

  • It makes the Remy fight even sadder. 'cause he really makes a fight out of it here, even though Musashi dominates.

  • The main reason why Ray lost also was that he was not able to kick or Block (check) kicks with his Legs. So all he was doing was taking kicked to the Legs, Knees and thighs.

  • at 2:25 of round 1 when mercer is down looking up i bet he is thinking "im too old for this shit"

  • I woulda smashed on that chink. Bitch ass faggots and their kicking.

I've beat the shit out of a few kickboxers in my time. ha ha ha ha .

  • @joeblohhh Yeah sure, Ray Mercer couldn't beat this guy but you would have.

Ray Mercer is a warrior. He took on Remy and Musashi who at this time was pretty good, he even took on Tim Sylvia and won. Much respect for Ray Mercer.

  • @mufc786hm I'm an ex boxer, and a heavy weight. And I have never been beaten in a street brawl. I've knocked out or broken the jaw or face of everyone I have ever fought. The only reason I did not pursue a pro boxing career is because I served 11 and a half years straight in maximum security prisons, and then 4 years on parole.

I have fucked up everyone I have ever fought.

Yes, I can STILL , at 38 , beat the shit out of any kickboxer or muy thai. I have before,.I'm not even talking shit

  • @joeblohhh Cool story bro, it's a shame none of that can be verified or proven to be the least bit true. For all I know you're a 14 year old kid who's never been in a street fight, let alone a boxing match. Either way, Musashi would have kicked your ass no doubt. So you can keep making stuff up on the internet and being racist when you're sat safe behind your computer, or you could actually try that shit in real life and see where it gets you.

  • @mufc786hm I can verify it. want to exchange information.? I'll show you photos and everything. I doubt that You even know who the fuck I am. Or what I'm about.

  • @joeblohhh Again cool story bro. Pardon me for not wanting to exchange information with some weirdo on the internet, make a video reply to this if you want. I'm sure everyone would like to put a face to all this shit talkin. You're right I don't know you are and I couldn't care less, my life is at no loss for not knowing you.

  • @joeblohhh and i bet they werent shit. try fighting a real kickboxer or a muay thai fighter.

  • @joeblohhh NOpe sorry, k1 fighters are the best strikers overall in the world. ppl like floyd mayweather would even get beaten by a k1 fighter.

  • @joeblohhh Yea right..gtfo..get a shin to the chin and STFU with that bs.

  • @joeblohhh You sir are a complete dumbass. That "Chink" would have scrambled ur brain with one kick and had u running to ur Mommy.

  • @yellowsneakers234 Actually... I don't even remember the guy's name, but he was supposed to be the lightweight kick-boxing champion of the world. He lived on Y-street in Sacramento. Had his own gym and about 25 students. I was 17. I sparred him, AND his best student (260 lbs); (I was a bantamweight boxer) .. I kicked BOTH their asses. Next day, 80 percent of his pupils left him to train under my dad. the year was 1990. My dads gym was 'New Generation Boxing Club', but I boxed for the P.A.L.gym

  • @yellowsneakers234 Ps... I don't have to explain myself to any of you. My opinion remains the same. Anyone who uses his feet or wrestling as a primary offense is gay. Sorry if you think otherwise. boo hoo. lol. I'm outta here. If you want to do any homework on my story.. look for the P.A.L. gym (it's closed now, but I'm sure there;s some records) and look up 'pops' the manager; Also, Find someone named Angie Zuniga (mma fighter; boxing trainer and ask her about the Zunigas) bye!

  • If was the same Ray Mercer´s fight against Evander Holyfield... Musashi got down...

  • still this is not as bad as the mercer - bonjasky fight, because that was brutal.

  • Ray mercer clearly did k1 for the money, looool i feel bad for the man, !!!!!!!!!

  • uh oh looks like one of the best chins boxing's ever seen got knocked down by a featherfisted kickboxer

  • @Tavarith Yeah, he beat up on an old man that doesn't know jack about kickboxing. Keep patting yourself on the back stupid.

  • he continued to box after this and pulled through decisions.....never got knocked down in the first round

  • Man, I feel bad for Mercer; K-1's not for him. He could get permanently injured from kicks..

  • Holy crap!!!

3:07 Mercer lands that uppercut, out-of-nowhere, lightning fast!

  • lol, mercer checks a kick at 5:02

  • transition into MMA was a mistake for the Mercer ...

  • @MickyWard1 this isnt mma. this is k-1. he actually won one of his mma fights, ko'd tim sylvia in round 1. he lost both his k-1 fights, this fight and the other one against remy bonjasky. but he is obviously well passed his prime

  • @kingstaffy Yes, he knocked out Tim Sylvia it was a great fight. but I think he had to leave then that would not disgrace ourselves. or even he had to finish his career before ... I was very surprised that Shannon Briggs was able to knock it. I remember that Lewis threw him in the jaw just bombs and Mercer continued to fight as if nothing missed! And of course in his best form he would beat Klitschko.

  • bad

  • this just goes to show that boxer aren't cream of the crop in stand up. I know mercer is well past his prime, but musashi isn't too great of a kickboxer.

  • It all depends- if Mercer knew how to properly block /check kicks or understood that if he stepped into all of Musashi's kicks he has opportunities for the big counterpunch.

Its painfully obvious Mercer's hands are exponentially better than Musashis, but Id say it's all about preparation. Mercer didn't do his homework for kickboxing and how to fight a kickboxer.

Gotta remember, Mercer's an old dog.

He comes from an age when no one knew what well-rounded meant as far as fighting goes.

  • @doctordroobee

Musashi is known for being feather-fisted and winning most of his fights thanks to his uncles on the judging panel.

  • @SD78 this is absolutely true.

I was just giving Mercer some credit, he's talented for sure, and if he was the young man who went on the boxing tear that he did this fight would have been interesting. Wouldn't you agree?

I give props to anyone who fights on tv consistently, regardless of what promotion they hail from. Though it's obvious some are better, Musashi's only feather fisted compared to most K1 fighters. He's a Japanese K1 torunament champ.

And I'm aware of the Japanese judgeing bias.

  • @doctordroobee

Full credit for getting in the ring in an alien sport, but their's a lot of fawning boxing fanboys out there who try and twist this fight into "ZOMG FAT WASHED UP MERCER NEARLY KILLED ELITE K1 CHAMPION AND WAS ROBBED IN CLOSE DECISION!11 DERP"

  • I'm surprised at how little Mercer did. Those kicks weren't coming so fast he couldn't do anything. I think he's just too used to staring at the shoulders to notice.

  • musashi killed his limbs

  • I don't understand why they brake them up, ray would have eaten a knee to the head in the clinch

  • Ray was at least 8 years past his peak by this time, nothing for Musashi to really write home about.

  • this is guna happen to his idiot friend james toney. hahahaha

  • @tizza07 well it depends on the fighter. this was a k-1 fight. k-1 fighters ONLY specialise in stand up. not all mma fighters are stand up fighters. therefore, u cant compare the striking ability of mma fighters to k-1 fighters/muay thai fighters

  • lmfao that is true myquill23 that would have been funny

  • It would have been hilarious if Mercer had thrown a kick..

  • If Musashi threw his legs in combinations and used side and thrust kicks to control distance like a jab....it would have been the mother of all beatdowns. Mercer just ate so many kicks if that was Serkan Yilmaz, cro cop, or vera he wouldn't have been able to walk past the second round.

I think you're underestimating the learning curve of an elite boxer to learn kickboxing. And maybe you do'nt know that Pacquiao is a top hombre in muay thai,he just does'nt fight in muay thai because it's not that rewarding compared to boxing.

  • ray mercer did very well considering he has never taken a kick at all in his life and his age, but he has more heart than musashi. in the end a kick is a kick and a punch is a punch and its all about knocking your opponent out how ever you can

  • In the end, Ray got dominated, period.

  • @Steve406SBC OF COURSE THEIR IS NO REAL COMPETITION THESE DAYS WHERE AS THE OLD DAYS THEY HAD TO FIGHT TO MAKE MONEY SOMEHOW....TODAY THEY DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT...THEY HAD A REASON TO FIGHT BACK THEN WHERE AS TODAY...

  • Imagine how an elite boxer in his prime, trains for a year or two to kick and fights in kickboxing.A sweep.

  • @Nomadunlimited If you think one or 2 years in training Muay Thai/Kickboxing is enough to be elite in the sport you obviously don't watch a lot of k-1.

K-1 is so much more than kicks.

  • I've seen a lot of pro boxers cross train to MMA and are doing well locally. What more if an elite boxer trains to defend himself from a kick and kick in return to setup a boxer's lethal punch? That's why I believe that an elite boxer would win.

  • Neither in kickboxing.

  • That's foolish thinking. Pro boxers cross train to MMA and do very well "LOCALLY" ??? That means that these pro boxers are doing ok against "AMATERISTIC" mixed martial artists... This is no surprise. Don't you realize that the reason why elite boxers are elite, is because of the years upon years that they've trained, and competed. Just because they're elite in boxing, doesn't in any way mean that they can become sufficient enough of a kickboxer in 1-2 years to compete with professional kboxers

  • @Steve406SBC Obviously you arent a boxing fan....you just watch one type of sport....let me guess...MMA? and you havent watched many fights in your life.....people like you i wont even waste my time explaining things to you....and i never even said anything about boxers are sufficient enough of a kick boxer you DICKHEAD, but now that you say that.,,,i have watched fights where boxers have done pretty good in kickboxing,,,,AND NO ITS NOT ON YOU TUBE you actually had to watch these fights

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox I've been actually just watching boxing since before you were born, and became a huge fan of boxing after watching Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Marvin Hagler in 1987, live on PPV. Just because I base my opinion on logic and reason rather than on emotion like you do, you assume that I'm not a boxing fan? What a fucking fool.

  • It's good that you don't waste your time explaining anything to me, because that's exactly what you'd be doing, as there's nothing you need to explain to me, or even could explain to me, because my knowledge and intelligence is so far superior to that of your own. And as far as actually having to watch these fights, lol, for every one kickboxing match you've watched, I've watched 5+... Live!!!

  • And I don't care if the fights you're referring to are on Youtube or not, that doesn't mean that there's not a record of thier existence. Give me some names, and sorces, of the fighters/fights you're referring to. You're about as dumb as a box of rocks

  • @SteveSbc406 dickhead MUSASHI IS A TWO TIME K1 CHAMPION.... HE IS NOT A NOBODY.....RAY MERCER DID GOOOOODD.....THATS WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY FUCKKK HEAAAADDDD IF YOU ARE A FIGHT FAN OF ALL SPORTS YOU WOULD HAVE UNDERSTOOOOODDD...BUT YOU AAARREEEENNNTT...... FUUUCCCKKKK OOOOOFFFFF RAY MERCER 42 YEARS OLD BOXER VS MUSASHI 32 YEARS OLD KICKBOXER TWO TIME K1 CHAMPION...RAY MERCER DID GOOODD...I REPEAT RAY MERCER DID GOOOOD CONSIDERING HIS AGE AND NO EXPERIENCE IN KICKBOXING AND MMA....FUUUUUUCKKK YOU

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox Damn, are you even for real? lol. You're prettey damned emotionally sensative for a person who claims to be a fight fan, lmfao.

And by the way, nice dodge by avoiding providing a source for these fictitious fights you were referring to. Continued in next response.

  • @SteveSbc406 I WOULD CALL IT PASSIONATE FUCKWIT,,,,,AS FOR PROVIDING A SOURCE.....UMM MY SOURCE IS I JUST WATCHED ALL THESE FUCKING FIGHTS IN THE PAST,,,,NOT LIKE YOU NERDS THESE DAYS JUST COME AND WATCH IT ON YOU TUBE TO COLLECT INFORMATION AND MAKE OUT YOU HAVE KNOWN FOR DECADES LMFAO....NOW PLEASE FARK OFF,,,WASTING MY INBOX SPACE

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox Sorry, nice try, but that has nothing to do with passion, it has to do with being an immature spaz, a little whiney kid throwing a tantrum because someone doesn't agree with him. You're a fucking embarrassment to yourself. You'd better run to your profile right away and remove your age, because that just makes it look way worse for ya.

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox If you add up all the boxing, kickboxing, and MMA matches that you've seen on tv, or your computer, that's not even as many as I've seen live, in person, of just one of those sports individually.

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox Not only is it not a waste of your inbox space, but from now on, you should carry around a little spiral notepad when you read my words, so you can take notes, and then recite them to other people to make yourself appear as being intelligent. You will publically fail, in every single argument you have with me... EVER.

I really get sick of debating with people like you who are so mentally inferior to me.

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox And actually you're wrong... I'll help you out a little. Musashi was actually a 4 time k-1 champion, but if you think that it's as simple as basing it on that, you're a fool. You have to take into consideration the caliber of the competition during those time periods. Overall, Musashi isn't that great of a kickboxer. He's lost to every decent name he's fought, and that's a fact, and a matter of public record. Contnued in next response.

  • @SteveSbc406 BRO SERIOUSLY,,,,MUSASHI WAS A 4 TIME K1 JAPAN CHAMPION.....AND A 2 TIME K1 WORLD GRAND PRIX CHAMPION....THATS WHAT I MEANT MAN....HES RETIRED NOW HES TOO OLD FOR KICKBOXING HIS LAST 4 OR 5 FIGHTS HAVE BEEN LOSSES....DONT TRY AND FOOL ME YA FUCKHOLE

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox It's obvious that you lied about your age, and are actually just a child. On some of the gaming forums that I visit, I notice that it's always the little immature children like your self that are so emotionally sensative, and type in caps. You'll noice how adults don't do that type of shit. This skinned little kids like you make for good entertainment at least.

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox You can waste your time trying to defend it all you want, but facts are facts. Musashi is not an impressive kickboxer, and just like I said, he's lost to every big name he's fought. And luckily took championships during weak periods of k-1 history. I mean look at the heavyweight boxing champions of today. Are you really so blind that you think that they are good, when viewing the history of boxing in it's entirety? You're a joke.

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox The champions of today SUCK, compared to the true champions of the past, because there's no competition out there today, and there's not one mother fucking boxiner historing/expert, who would say anything any different, and if you're a true fan, you know it just as well as I do. And if you don't think that's true, either you're not a fan at all, a total idiot, or else you just enjoy arguing just for the sake of arguing.

  • @ilovemmamuaythaibox That's the same boat Musashi was in. I'm not going to hate on him, or be disrespectful, but facts are facts. When you compare him to the actual greats of kickboxing, the plain and simple truth is that he's mediocre at the veeeery best.
