  • There's a great new biography of Melba by Ann Blainey.

  • Melba's clear and resonant tone, splendid diction, and individual phrasing enhance her interpretation of the Scottish and British ballads she performed.

  • @meltzerboy Tetrazzini also made a wonderful recording of this lovely Scottish song, as did John Charles Thomas.

  • @meltzerboy I was thinking of Tetrazzini's recording of "Bonnie Sweet Bessie." Not sure if she recorded this one.

  • @meltzerboy But Dame Clara Butt did, and a wonderful performance it is!

  • From opera to popular, Dame Nellie could handle them all, as this wonderful historical recording demonstrates. The Laubscher needle does a fine job at bringing out her clarity of tone and excellent diction.
