  • This incident took place on January 31 1918 and although enemy forces were not involved it most certainly happened during the First World War.

  • K4 was sunk with all hands so you are diving on a war grave.

  • @kensquash: As the incident took place outside a time of war, the sunken K4 submarine is NOT a War Grave. Therefore, it is legally permitted to dive upon the wreck. That said, there is encumbent upon any diver to report the location of any human remains found within the wreck if said wreck is entered by that diver.

The wreck was not actually entered.

Having regard to the condition of the wreck, I fully appreciate why it would be unwise to enter it, for whatever purpose.

  • very interesting video, ive often wondered if these boats were ever dived on , or if they were too deep / out of bounds, also interested in the wreck of "tantivy" in cromarty firth ...not that im a diver , but submarine enthusiast...anyone diving scapa/orkney, visit north school submarine display on "eday" (exhibits from HMS OTTER )......mike ilett.
