@RomeDoodle Yeh and I'm as funny as Lee Evans at comedy and as good at football as Lionel Messi. Take the cotton wool out of your ears and out it in your mouth.
@RomeDoodle I personally prefer JOJ and while I have nothing against Alfie at all, I would have preferred to see JOJ as Valjean in the 25th anniversary concert. Alife is still good though.
@njishottlikeatamale Not at all. I'm 18 and whenever I see Les Miserables I'm always head over heels for Valjean by the end of the musical. :D But John Owen Jones is pretty much a god.
@TheKaylaBird Agreed, Jones is definitely my favorite Valjean. I have never felt the same way about the character after seeing/hearing him for the first time! He may have even replaced Eponine with Valjean as my favorite character...
I love how every single person who plays Jean Valjean interprets this song differently. Colm Wilkinson was all about his big notes, JOJ softens it down and Alfie Boe has this electrifying intensity when he sings this <3
I've been searching for the best version of this song for a while now. This is hands down the best! JOJ is awesome, and personally I think a slight better than Colm.
A clip of Jefff Leyton the Irish Jean Valjean from the 10th Anniversary singing Bring him home, The Les Miserables open air concert in Highlands park Chelmsford, Thirty two thousand people.
I love singers that can hold powerful notes without vibrato- I mean I like vibratos but not really heavy ones- they seem off tune to me. JOJ is one of those, but he has an awesome vibrato also so yea :)
@Monkeyballmania I know your comment is old, but that is exactly why I love him too! :D I don't think it sounds beautiful at all with really heavy vibrato...
@TheVildee Yeah! Although I have been in two operas recently and I'm currently in Parsifal at the English National Opera (my final performance is this Saturday) so sometimes I think heavy vibratos do work well- but that's at rare occasions.
I'm half welsh half english and even though I was born in england Wales is still my favourite country. One because loads of my family are down there, and two because awesome singers are from there (like JOJ). oh and did i mention joes ice cream lol
Lovely performance from the only Valjean that comes close to Colm Wikinson. JOJ is, from a tecnical perspective, a better singer than Wilkinson. However, while JOJ sings and performs beautifully, he is playing Valjean while Wilkinson IS Valjean.
It just doesn't get any better than this. No one else should ever be allowed to sing this song after John Owen-Jones. Kind of like retiring an athlete's number. He is brilliant.
He doesn't have the vocal ability of Colm. He is too breathy which takes away the intensity of the song. Also he is a bit too theatrical in his performance making the singing stilted and uneasy, not pleading enough - in other words, his singing is not believable.
Yes, Gareth Gates is currently playing Marius in the tour and he is fantastic! You can hear what Cameron Mackintosh has to say about Gareth on youtube. Cameron Mackintosh talks about Gareth Gates.
@GingerandSoph94 It Is Called "John Owen-Jones Hallelujah." You can buy it directly from his site. Songs include:Bring Him Home,Hallelujah,Two Thousand Years and King of The world. He also Just recently came out with his Official record Just Called "John Owen-Jones" which you can buy straight from the Uk amazon look it up on Google to get to the Uk Site. Then just search "John Owen-Jones" The songs on this album include: A better version of Bring Him home, Music Of The Night! and Many others. :)
The control, the softness, his voice brings me to a halt every time... it's so moving. Then he opens up at 2:00 unleashing the power of his voice. I wish, so badly, that I had seen him perform live...
Obviously very good, but to my taste, a bit too controlled. His voice lacks the grit of Colm. His style is slightly too pop as well again for my taste. Sorry.
This is the pinnacle performance of Bring him home ever, I don't care what anybody says the best version of this song ever! There is no way that Colm has the pureness that John has. Colm puts more emotion into his performances though.
This man and this song inspired me to start singing after i listened to this version of the song i new i wanted to one day be able to sing it! This is amazning!!!
