  • buena pareja, buena direccion, buen Otello!

  • Super

  • Everybody look at James Levine!!

  • Great singing from two wonderful singers. I also love how Milnes says the name Cassio with such venom, as if the name repulses him beyond measure.

  • @Beth29252 That's one of my favorite details, too. It must have been a regular feature of Milnes' Iago, because I've heard him do it in two other versions.

  • ES UNO DE MIS IDOLOS PLACIDO DOMINGO PERO CONSIDERO QUE NO ES SU MEJOR INTERPRETACION NI LA MEJOR SIENDO MILLNES Y MISMO DOMINGO DOS TITANES DE LA OBRA OTELLO

  • James Levine Rocks!!!

    Excellent video

  • Glad to see that James Levine got over hogging the camera. This is embarrassing.

  • BABIES!

  • Extraordinario.

  • Thrilling! Domingo was Otello of course. And the pairing with Milnes is incredible.

  • I Love watching Levine yank on Domingo's leash tempo wise.

  • Mio Dio.... Pazzesco. E' solo un concerto... Eppure io VEDO Otello. E' pazzesco come Domingo riesca a diventare il Moro....

  • Yes, they do sound good together...the Milnes/Giacomini version is better, but Giacomini overshadows Milnes a bit too much. Domingo and Milnes blend very well.

  • Briliantno!!!! Bravissimi!!! Fantastika!!!

  • My mistake, it was 1976.

  • Very good version, but not as good as the one from 1979 at the Scala (Domingo, Cappuccilli, Kleiber).

    Thanks for posting

  • Hai ben ragione, Bodiloto. Non mi sorprenderebbe se loro barattassero i ruoli. Loro ancora farebbero un lavoro magnifico. (I'd wouldn't be surprised if ever they swap the roles. They's still be great!

  • They are not just brilliant singers but also a brilliant pair. They sound really good together (like, for example, Carreras is best with Cappuccilli, Corelli with Bastianini, Björling with Warren).

  • Is this bliss? I think so!! Milnes, Domingo, Verdi and Levine ... who could ask for anything more!

  • You could ask Giuseppe Giacomini......

  • Peppi- I believe Del Monaco, Warren comes to mind- the best!!!!

  • @porsche4277 MAYBE.....THE BEST ARE DEL MONACO RAMON VINAY

  • Opera was another thing then.

Last of that way of singing.

    A pity?Indeed for me.

  • brilliant, but not like Del Monaco and Gobbi

  • una interpretazione di due tenori ,o due baritoni, come volete .

  • Impresionante.

  • Brilliant! Both Mr. Milnes and Mr. Domingo are fantastic here. I really enjoyed all the wonderful duets you posted here wansob. Thanks.

  • Possibly one.. duhhh, that doesn't make sense. this performance has balls, just like the Caruso Ruffo version. too bad Ruffo didn't go for the A. Jussi and Merrill also do a good job but the voices are lighter.

  • this is possibly one of the best recordings that i have ever heard...

  • delicioso duo

  • Domingo and Milnes were fantastic in every duet that they sang. Even James Levine traid to sing.

  • Wansob, Thank you so much for these wonderful duets that you have given us. I cant stop watching them! In the 70s and 80s these boys were fantastic!

  • my favorite concert... ever! They did duets from pearl fishers, boheme, gioconda, lots from Forza (almost the whole second half), the Otello duet. If memory serves, there was an Andrea Chenier excerpt (Domingo) that was awesome. Still terrific after all the years. Thanks!!!!!!!!

  • did they do the don carlo duet in this particular concert?

  • No, they didn't.

  • I'm glad that you like them :-)

  • Dear Wansob, many thanks for posting those duets! Take care, J
