wow guys, really? you don see the problem here? no? Nobody sees how making a reference to a black man as a chimp could be an issue? "Alabama porch-monkey" ringin' any bells? The big black bug-eyed big lipped cartoons that were used in the past to degrade black people as stupid, lazy and violent? Nope? No connection to the many unjust shootings of black-americans by white cops? Dialo? Rodney King? Nothin? You dont think that maybe the topics a wee-bit sensitive?
i'd agree with "if ya dont wana see it dont read it". My real issue is, in your last post, you say the connection between a monkey and a racist black image is completely unimaginable...and thats silly, cuz there's a big connection between the two considering the history of racist pictures/art ect. Callin people who made this connection idiots is...well idiotic. ya cant deny the fact that racist images often depicted black ppl as monkeys. not being sensitive/aware of that shows your privilege.
also- I want to believe the whole "monkey is the same as cracker/fag" but i cant cuz in reality, when you get called a cracker, they calling you white and maybe dumb. but gettin called a bama-porch monkey, it makes you lazy, stupid and sub-human which legitimized lynching (cuz they were animals not people). As much as you may want to believe the past is in the past, (and i do too) you've got to understand that the past is what the present is built on, it dosnt just disappear into thin air.
First of all, WHOEVER thought that a chimp is a comparison to African Americans is a fucking idiot.
Secondly, Congress WRITES the bills while the United States President either signs or vetoes the bills.
Third of all, it's parodying the event of the two cops that shot Travis the chimpanzee. The reason why it was shot dead was because Travis was attacking both the owner and its friend. They had no fucking control of this animal.
wonder how Obama reacted. He probably laughed hysterically. I've seen a lot worse cartoons that have gotten no reaction. There's a reason why it's called a cartoon
Who cares... seriously man, when are people going to stop being so sensitive about race! Seriously.... Yah I thought it was racist in nature, but I found it funny as well.... Carlos Mencia Says it best.. People need to get over themselves and learn to laugh! Its only racists if you allow it to trigger emotion... Does it change anything? Does it stop anyones life? Does it interfere whatsoever in anything that anyone is doing in their daily lives? NO!!! THEN GET THE FUCK OVER IT PEOPLE! Babies!!!
Hey...where did you get those cool signs on the dresser behind you?

This really shouldn't be a big issue to begin with. That's like me being called a "faggot" or a "cracker" and I wouldn't give a shit.
Besides, if they don't want to see it, then they don't have to buy the post.
As for the term of blackface, that was the past.
Even the Editor-in-Chief said that it parodies the event of the chimpanzee attack on an innocent female.
Seriously, get your facts straight instead of having a one-sided opinion.

If you really think it offends you, that's fine; don't read it.
I just want to state several aspects of this comic. Obama only signs the bills; Congress writes the bills. The monkey is portrayed as Congress.
If I was black, I would've gotten a bit pissed off, but I just ignore it. Heck, even several African-Americans aren't offended by this cartoon.

I'm going to explain some logic into this topic:
First of all, WHOEVER thought that a chimp is a comparison to African Americans is a fucking idiot.
Secondly, Congress WRITES the bills while the United States President either signs or vetoes the bills.
Third of all, it's parodying the event of the two cops that shot Travis the chimpanzee. The reason why it was shot dead was because Travis was attacking both the owner and its friend. They had no fucking control of this animal.

obviously racist because it is a cartoon intended to make fun of obama
same as they have done with all presidents
why do people have to be ignorant and not realize how hypocritical they are when they judge this.
thats it! maybe i should go protest carlos mencia and dave chappelle right? wrong i realize that it is supposed to be funny whether or not i like it
ITS CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH
