Well it was a tough year this year (1987), Lotta Engberg "Fyra bugg och en coca-cola", Lena Philipsson - "Dansa i neon" and Arja Sajonmaa "Högt över havet". 1988 was more of a ballad year. Whit a more fair chance for her would have made itself an even bigger hit if she competed 1988.
This song makes itself its honor in cd-version. Believe me!!! I can tell you that if it would have been telephonevoting this year, she would have placed itself top-5 at least. She couldn´t help she´s got that terrible cold, she had the days until the final. Its a beautiful song and it diserves some respect as well.
The reason she's singing really bad here, is that she had a terrible cold during the perfomrmance. According to my then girlfriend's friend - who sang in the choir - the day was quite chaotic, deciding whether she would be able to sing at all, or cancel. She decedid to sing, and the result we see and hear here. Not very good. And the result in the competition was bad as well.
The reason Annas singing starts to falter, is that the keyboardist is playing the wrong chords and lose the rhythm about 15 secods into the song. Its very easy to hear. Anna actually asked to get a chance to sing it a 2nd time, but they refused. She was 17, and the orchestra plays everything wrong - of course she became very nervous when it starts of wrong on live tv in fron of the whole Swedish Tv audience.
Well, 20 years later shw was back with a boom in the charts!
Er... no. The keyboard player is the Musical Director, Curt Eric-Holmquist. The reason she's singing badly has very little to do with the keyboard player and more to do with the fact that she probablyhad a bad night. She is completely out of tune on the key change - terrible!
And the right chords are played and the right rhythm is played. So don't really see what you're getting at here.
Thats not true. Im making music myself since years, and its easy to hear where they are playing wrong - twice - a bit into the song.
Also Annas strong Stockholm-dialect consists of very open and harsch vocals (a, ä, u and others) which might not be too nice for people not speaking swedish.
Where? Curt plays an F major chord, then a B flat chord on F and then a G minor chord, before back to B flat. This is the way it is on the record as well.
I've counted the measures and the tempo as well, and Curt doesn't lose time. Perhaps the monitors on stage were broken when Anna sang, but the orchestra's definitely in the right here!
Some awful singing here - local young talent contest level. I almost suspect this is dubbed over, SVT wouldn't let somebody who can't sing into MF, would they?

Much better in it's studio version, I have it on mp3 and it's a really nice song (when she sings without being nervous!)
