I think they stopped playing it at every game after Bates took control of the club. He basically wanted to rid the club of links to the previous Mears family era and that included changing the club badge and mucking about with the colours too. They did though play The Liquidator on big occasions like the FA Cup quarter final v Sunderland in 1992.

This used to get played at Molineux back in the'70s. The only reason the club stopped playing it was when Wolves supporters added "f*** off,West Brom" to the chorus. It NEVERr got played at any grounds in the 70s apart from Molineux - Wolves were the first.

Ok fair enough i messed up got a bit crossed wires on the songs there plus was feeling a bit sensitive after our disgraceful performance against birmingham recently.
Still not all of my points were invalid and, having now looked around more i see that the song origin is a point of contention between chelsea, wolves, WBA and wycombe wanderers as these clubs have traditionally used the song most.
Of course doesn't really matter just that the song reminds me of supporting wolves when i was young and has strong emotional links.
To be fair its obvious both our clubs have had alot of affection for the song at certain times and were probably the ones who played it most so debate is understandable if silly.

Chelsea got the Liquidator at the Bridge in 1968 - 1 year before the official chart release, & one year before Wolves adopted it in 1969. The reason was the DJ at the Bridge had strong connections with friends in Jamaica and Ska & Reggae was already thriving at Stamford Bridge in the late 60's. There is even a MOTD episode from this period where you can hear the Stamford Bridge crowd roaring "Chelsea!" at the relevant places. Wolves got it early yes - only Chelsea got it first!

This used to get played at Molineux back in the'70s. The only reason the club stopped playing it was when Wolves supporters added "f*** off,West Brom" to the chorus. It NEVERr got played at any grounds in the 70s apart from Molineux - Wolves were the first.

So in short wolves fans didnt need to take songs off chelsea fans because they were (and always will be pre 2002) a bigger club, winning titles and dominating english football in the 50's & 60's. And until Roman took over chelsea's main claim to fame has been hooliganism. Ok fair enough i messed up got a bit crossed wires on the songs there plus was feeling a bit sensitive after our disgraceful performance against birmingham recently.
Still not all of my points were invalid and, having now looked around more i see that the song origin is a point of contention between chelsea, wolves, WBA and wycombe wanderers as these clubs have traditionally used the song most.
so it could well have been chelsea song first.

Of course doesn't really matter just that the song reminds me of supporting wolves when i was young and has strong emotional links.
To be fair its obvious both our clubs have had alot of affection for the song at certain times and were probably the ones who played it most so debate is understandable if silly.
Would also like to say that i obviously went over the top with the chelsea slating you were of course a big club before roman with your euro, FA cups and a league title once before also.
