BTW, when I lived in AUS, I knew MediCare(Socialized Medical Insurance in AUS) didn't cover dental expenses. Is it the same as NZ? I think NZ is a well known-country which provides very good health care system, but how is the cost for the health care in NZ? Anyway, basically travelers should go to dentist before the travel. Actually, I've ever paid around $300 to pull my wisdom teeth out in Thailand...

One of the reasons why medical/dental expenses in Japan aren't so expensive is because of "Socialized Medical Insurance System" which everyone has to join and pay an insurance premium. However, the system encounters a serious problem now. The population of old people who need more supports has rapidly increased, but young people who can work & support the insurance system are on the decrease. So the insurance system faces a critical moment, and the premium for young people is always increasing.

The reason its cheap in Japan is because EVERYONE has teeth problems, if it was expensive, everyone (who wants to get their teeth fixed) would spend all their money on that. dentistry in Japan is relatively new compared to other countries, is that fair to say?
