It's combination of Mongolian Wrestling, Northern Chinese Boxing and Southern Chinese Kickboxing. MMA fighters are = Zhang Qie Tian. Who is currently undefeated, Liu Hailong which won the light heavweight crown against some Ruskie and Ao hai Lin. MMA is worldwide and even makes me notice fighters from China or some place like Ghana.

The Chinese flyweight just won something called the WBC Asian Junior Flyweight Title and gave Japanese veteren Daisuke Naito a VERY tough challenge of Naito's WBC Flyweight championship, knocking down Naito and cutting his face to ribbons - but lost the decision (homwtown gift in my opinion). If that guy wins a world title, he will be a national hero and more Chinese will want to participate in the sport. I hope he can win for China.
About a year ago, I saw some footage of that Klitschko-sized heavyweight Zhang. I think what China needs is good coaches. Undoubtedly the physical talent is there. I'm curious to see how well they transfer amateur skills to the pro ranks. For now, the emphasis is on winning a gold medal. Perhaps they will move on to the pros as you said.

@TheFinalRound1 Actually out of curiosity, I looked at some Chinese video sites a few months ago and I found a surprising amount of boxing uploaded. There were even quite a few that actually had commentary in Mandarin. I remember seeing I think it was the first Margarito/Cintron fight w/ Mandarin commentators.
Too bad I'm pretty much illiterate in Chinese and my understanding skills are pretty rudimentary.. otherwise I'd definitely go look up their forums and see what people are talking about
