  • i remember bak in 97 i was only in 2nd grade when chicago had a microburst i seen a tree in front of my house practically get ripped out of the ground it was nuts!!

  • Quite the exciting day. I just barely made it to the Washington/Wells station downtown before the full force of the storm hit. I waited about 40 minutes for the brown line to finally show up and on my ride back home to Lincoln Square I could see trees down everywhere, particularly from the brown line between Addison & Montrose. Definitely a day that's still fresh in my memory.

  • It was the second day of school for me. Right when we were about to get released, the principal frantically announced that Teachers, do NOT release the students. when she was done, the Tornado sirens sounded. We had to stay in class for an extra 30 minutes. And my teacher started drinking a beer in front of us, lol.

  • the scariest storm i have ever lived threw...

it was the first day of school and school ended at 12:00 pm

i went home and my parents were out.. i looked outside and the clouds looked very gray and a few mins later it started raining and storming like crazy! our trees hit our roof and destroyed are windows... and my parents were out at the time, that was the scariest.. but they were okay, they stopped at domenicks and they were fine... the next day the damage was everywhere! power off for 7 days

  • I was out when this happened and we had to go to the basement. My cousins roof was blown off.

  • that was a bad storm

  • i was in school when that storm hit. it was 3 05 when we were being dismissed early due to the storm. we were headed out the cafeteria doors when the tornado sirens started to go off. we all ran back inside to the back wall. i looked outside and saw everything was a greenish color. we were on a lockdown for 3 hours. when the storm passed, we were dismissed from school. i went around looking at the damage. there were power lines down, windows blown out, etc. the storm was a confirmed supercell.

I was picked up from school and me and my dad were on our way to a car shop "woody auto shop in elgin" and while i was waiting for our car to get new wheels i looked out the window and i saw big black clouds. i looked at the t.v. in the waiting section and it said severe t-storm warnings. a few minutes later literally everyone is looking aout the window. there were straight line winds at about 70 mph. it was pretty scary, i tell ya.

  • In Woodridge I was lucky, right between two different storms, one to the north, one to the south. A friend in Lemont (south) had a flooded basement and a friend in Lombard (north) didn't have power for a few days.

  • When you have late summer air masses meeting fall cold fronts, severe storms are the result! Chicago may have another threat of Severe weathere on Tuesday as another stronger front will move into the area.

  • This iis Horrible! >_< poor Chicago! i never thought something like this could happen! Thanks for Posting ^_^

  • Terrible storm, the wall cloud over Joliet was nasty. Clouds turned turqoise and pitch black. Power went out in the Orland Park Mall and people were just going nuts. We were without power for 48 hours down in Frankfort and had to work all night during the sirens to keep water from flooding the basement. Good video to showcase the damages.
