@KurtZeppelin12 it was often pigionholed as grunge. grunge is the commerical stigma attached to anything that came out around the nirvana era. AIC was not grunge, if anything they were more heavy rock/(and in some songs) metal.

if u listen to smashing pumpkins (who were also claimed under the grunge banner) then listen to AIC, Nirvana, pearl jam, soundgarden none of the bands sound anything the same, they were all different in their own right, but all just as good.
