That's actually not correct. The term "chaos" comes from ancient greek mythology (800BC), and means "chasm" or "abyss". The reverse is, by the way, also not true; when the christian hell was invented, they did not reference greek mythology. Some theologians of today see "chaos" as a concept related to the void from which the christian god YHVH created the world however.

...sorry, as a fan of all things chaos, I had to point that out.
