  • how do you make the blood not coming over the footage? i mean covering it

  • thanks for the tipps. now my gunbarrel is better than daniel craigs. and not a copy. unique

  • Hi Fletch.

How do you dare saying "No claim of being perfect". Of course it is perfect. Greeeeat job.

I am trying to do almost from the scratch, but using Sony Vegas.

I tried to use the tool "cookie cutter" to mask Pierce Brosnan.

The problem is: Sony Vegas don't let me start with with the mask completely out of the screen in order to show little by little. I mean: at least half the mask has to be already showed.

What kind of tools you used in After Effects to mask Pierce Brosnan?

    Thank you!!

  • download?

  • This was cool and I went to go try it until i realized that the Adobe Download is $1000. Fuck that shit.

  • cool

  • Thanks for the dunbarrrel clip.

All you have to do is film it, I use hyper cam 3, either register it or use the unregistered version. You can crop out the unregisteed hypercam sign afterwards if you have the software to do so.

  • where do you get the blank white gunberral?

  • you did not explain clearly. Please make a tutorial not quick video

  • i need lots of help!!! For starters, i can't evan make hommer simpson out of the barral

  • were did you get the empty gun barrel please awnser me and pm me

  • I would suggest adding the bullet from the Die Another Day sequence, but, according to my knowledge, that was the only time the bullet actually was seen. This is the best film on how to make the sequence. I guess there have always been different variations on the sequence.

  • where did you get the footage for step 4?

  • can you use paint and windows movie maker

  • whahahahahahahaha....really.....please tell me thats a joke. who needs ILM when you have trusty ms paint and movie maker. :)

  • How do you motion correct your gunbarrel to match the walking speed of your actor ? Cause I did a video, by the way I invite you to watch it on my channel, it's called Thimothy Dalton Goldeneye Gunbarrel. I putted Thimothy Dalton into the new gunbarrel but the actor and the gunbarrel speed doesn't match perfectly. You can see that the actor is shaking a little bit cause I had to keyframe the position of the actor. Could you help me ? Please answer me soon

  • thanks a looooooooooooooooooooooooot!

  • Would it be possible for you to upload the blue screen barrel and the blank one for us to use? I am having a hard time finding one elsewhere.

  • nice video

  • can you do this on apple imovie hd?

  • Don't know. If it's got enough powerful compositing features, then yes.

  • @Fletch061078 where do u get the gunbarrel

  • macromedia flash works on apple, download a trial or the full program from emule kazaa ares or something like that or buy it (dont recommend hahaha )

  • No. I have seven computers 4 of them macs, No. Just No. Sorry just get CS3!!!!lolzapoluza!

  • @flyingmonkeycrap no, you cant.

  • The whole problem I had from the beggining was that I do not know how to get the original gunbarrel, with one of the bonds walking in it, out of the gunbarrel so its just white or blue or red or any color..Is this possible to do on After Effects Or Sonyvegas, Or do i have to do it manually?

Thanks for all the past help!

    ~Black tux

  • Do you mean like.. one of the bond walking on a white background without the gunbarrel ?

  • You have to motion correct the barrel, not the actor. Otherwise it looks strange. A slight correction in the barrel's motion won't get noticed.

  • Yeah but how do I motion corect it ? I have After Effect 6.5. Do I need a plug-in or it's an effect.

  • how do you make the shadow?

  • what do you do before step 1 or how do you achieve step 1?

  • Its quite simple.. You hang material that is a simple color: Green, red, blue, black, etc. That is long enough for your walk, and you film you walking with the material of a simple color behind you, then you take it into Adobe After Effects or Sony Vegas and chroma key it (the color behind you)

  • its great!

  • Hello Mr. Fletch,

I ripped the scene from DVD, however, when I open it in Adobe After Effects, all of the animation tools, paint tools...everything is grayed out & I haven't the foggiest as to how I might "clean" the gun barrel, so to speak. I have version 6.5 if that means anything. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • mate, this is simply brilliant!

  • SUPER SACH!!!!

  • I've just got Adobe After Effect and I wanted to know how to put the blood over the actor... ? I don't know how to do and oyu're the only one who can answer me.

  • hi my names jo

no you shut up no you shut up hi honey (BOOM) ARAGGGH!!!!!!!!!!! bye

  • awsome =] That will help loads when we make a bond movie. Thx

  • im sorry for 2 comments in a row but. I just got Adobe After Effects 7.0 Pro. And I dono how to get the Color Key to work.

  • It's important to get the order of the layers right. First the footage of yourself (or actor) walking, then the blood on top with the blending mode "Multiply" and finally the blue/green screen gun barrel layer. Color Key is very easy, you can find it under Effect/Keying/Color Key. Select the color to be keyed out and adjust the settings and you're done!

  • Yes I know, I went to effect/keying/then color key. I selected the color Blue, but after that I didnt know what do do, so I just adjust the settings?

  • Did you select the exact blue color used in the layer? The only setting to adjust if the keying doesn't work at all is the Color Tolerace. The other two are just fine tuning. The only thing you need the keying for is to make the blue "hole" transparent. Underneath this layer there will be the blood, multiplied on top of the actor.

  • Oh ok. Thanks. The only part that I don't get now is how you got the blood to go over you. On mine it just covers the gunbarrel it self and not me.

  • I would guess that the poster had to animate some of the blood over the white area separately, matching the animation of the blood with the rest.

  • what Adobe After Effects version do you recommend?

  • As the effects needed to do a gun barrel sequence are quite basic, any version will work fine. Or if you need a free but effective compositing software, go for JAHSHAKA (look it up in Google).

  • I am totally confused.

  • I have an easier method except it doesn't include the man in red. Reply if you want to know how.

  • i want to know how! really

  • What software do you use?

  • i really don't have much...window's movie maker or imovie...

  • Nothing like Final Cut Pro?

  • no...

  • I'll make a tutorial or something.

  • Would you mind uploading an empty gunbarrel on megaupload or something like that? I've made one myself with vector paint, but there are some errors that annoy me.

  • Your gun barrel looks almost perfect, I don't think you need mine, just some tweaking. How does your gun barrel look like (color of the hole) and what blending mode do you use? Come on, you're nearly there!

  • Well the fact that some of the colors looks incorrect in some places. I have no problem with blending mode or the blood, only the colors.

  • If it's the version you posted in your profile, it's a transparency 'problem'. When superimposing the blood layer with 'Multiply', all white parts of the gunbarrel become transparent as well. That's why you have to add a blue/greenscreen layer on top.

  • By the way, ignore the one from my profile, i've been making a much better one which is due on youtube very soon.

  • where can i get the blood drip effect from?

  • Is there a way I could do this with Sony Vegas + where did you get your blank gunbarrel hole and blood from?

  • hey, read the comments

  • is there anyway i could do this with windows movie maker?

  • Can you do this in photoshop 5.0?

  • In theory yes, you'd have to work with filmstrip files. But it's a pain in the a.., believe me, I did that before.

  • Great. Thanks for the hints.

  • will u please send me the whole video to borrow? I will place the link and your Youtube account name at the end?? Thanks!!

    p.s. please reply.

p.p.s. sorry for copying bobblekids comment<=)

  • will u please send me the whole video to borrow? I will place the link and your Youtube account name at the end?? Thanks!!

    p.s. please reply.

  • Hi ! I just wanna know if you could send me this video ? I will cut it and I will only take the empty gunbarrel.

    Please.

  • how did you make the blue hole gunbarrel? could you possibly send me a copy of it?

  • now i didn't actually do this. but it's not really editing. it's called compositing. two of the better programs for it are Adobe's After Effects and Apple's Shake.

  • That is so cool. thanks for the info. Great Job!

  • what program do you use to edit?

  • Yes What Freakin Program did you use? Windows Movie Maker? Movie Shaker? What did you use?

  • Hehe^^ he used adobe after effects... a program you can purchase for 999$ on adobe"dot"com

  • how did you get your friend to get tinted red when the blood comes down?

  • I added the blood layer with the blending mode "Multiply". This makes the white parts completely transparent and all the other colours will have a tint effect. As other important parts of the gun barrel became transparent as well, I added the blue screen gun barrel layer on top.

  • Just one last question. I'm doing one my self and i don't have the materials to do a blue/green screen. So my question is how do i make sure that me and the enviroment stays in the hole?

  • Again, keyframe animation does the trick. You have to slightly correct the position of the gunbarrel layers in order to keep the hole on the actor. Have a look at the tutorial again and you'll notice the motion of the layers on the left. Finally you just zoom in a little and crop the edges to hide the motion. Blue/Green Screen is not essential, just make sure you shoot the footage of yourself walking in front of a clean bright background (a wall) to save you a lot of work in post.

  • James Bond Gun Barrel Sequence where do you get that from?

  • bravo! 5 stars

  • Could you help me?

  • A tough one, not knowing what you already know. Combining is one of the easiest things to do in After Effects, though. You just import all the footage you need and drag it into the timeline. You don't even need to get the order right immediately, as After Effects lets you change the Layer order even later (just drag and drop, on the left of the timeline).

  • I've recently got adobe after effects ( and I mean recently! ) and I'm not sure how to combine.

  • Is there any way you could send me the clip of the blue gunbarrel? this would REALLY help me! I'll send you a mesage with my email, only because i have a spam problem!

  • Yeah me too! I could really use some help, because im doing a film project for college.

  • I've got Final cut and I have no idea how to do it

  • Even though I highly recommend a proper compositing software as Adobe After Effects, it's possible to do it in Final Cut as well. Cleaning the original gun barrel footage (i.e. erasing the original actor), though, can't be done, as far as I know. An alternative method could be loading the ripped (from the dvd) into Final Cut, exporting it as a FilmStrip file and reimporting it into Adobe Photoshop to clean the actor out.

  • You could carefully animated a white circle over the top of the actor, that'll give you a clean area. Erm, buggered about the blood drip though...

  • You're right, but as you say it, it has to be done very carefully, as the hole changes slightly in size and shape (don't know why, doesn't make sense...). But when the blood starts to run down, the only way to clean both the white and the red is by painting over it (carefully around the edges).

  • That guy walks like a spastic

  • That guy walks like a spastic.

  • only spastics post the same comment twice!!

  • Heehee. That's hilarious.

  • clever!

  • hi i didnt get the last response youtube won't let me see it for some odd reason, can you send it again please?

  • I'm not quite sure of what you mean. The motion of the blood is not a recreation from scratch, it's just a cleaned version of the original, without Brosnan. This was achieved by painting over him with the correct red color. That layer is then used with "Multiply" as blending mode on top of the actor's layer. That makes the blood transparent, but still nicely red.

  • i will try this on adobe after effects cuz ive been looking for a tutorial like this everywhere THANKS!!

  • Good luck! If you've got any questions, ask away!

  • i have had trouble with this completely its given me a headache!! how do u get the blood to go down the screen for a start? sorry to bother you

  • i have problems i just got adobe after effects and i want to clean out the Timothy Dalton gunbarrel and could you somehow post a tutorial how to erase and get the blood to work i can erase but the paint will stay in the next frame and soo when im watching it please help.

  • That's an easy one: in the "Paint" options window, theres a dropdown menu "Duration", where you have to change the option "Constant" to "Single Frame" or "Custom" (it can be helpful sometimes being able to edit multiple frames). Remember that every time you click the mouse to paint, After Effects adds this as a new 'effect'. When you expand the layer options you can change the duration of every paint stroke even later.

  • ok ill try it now.

  • If i send you a video would you do it for me plz.!

  • If i sent you a video could you do it for me`? please?

  • how about the daniel craig version, can you do that?

  • I'll see what I can do, however I have to say that the Daniel Craig teaser trailer version is far more easy to do. The only difference is the actor's layer, which must be dynamically resized with keyframes to match the barrel's 'zoom' effect.

  • how did u get the gunbarrel perfect wit out the person tell me plz

  • Just cleaned it by painting over it (with Adobe After Effects) with white, red when the blood starts to run down and finally I filled the whole thing with blue for a separate layer.

  • do i need something like programs to do this ? ans how did u make it go stright how did u record it?

  • You could use any advanced video editing software like Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Final Cut etc. But to achieve a really good result, you have to use an appropriate compositing software like Adobe After Effects. I don't quite get what you mean by "make it go straight", though. Could you clarify your question?

  • Do i have to clean it by frame to frame or is there another way?

  • You have to control it frame by frame, but you can work with keyframes. You create a circular shape that covers up the actor (Brosnan in this case) and animate it with keyframes, so the circle moves with the existing gun barrel hole.

  • wtf

  • i've got after effects 7 and i have film of a man shooting the screen, but i'm a bit lost on how to bring up that gun barrel part?

  • Rip it from the DVD (any barrel you like). Be sure to convert it to the needed aspect ratio, as the footage from the DVD is most likely anamorphic (unless you have a FullScreen version). Then clean them as shown in the tutorial (with the After Effects paint mode).

  • where do you get the gun barrel sequence?

  • If I had the time I'd love to make one. But I'll just let you all do it so I can enjoy them.

  • wjhat did you use to make this

  • Adobe After Effects 7.

  • to be honest not very easy to understand, maybe you would be better off writing a detailed utuorial on how to do this, with a list of programs used etc.

  • The program is not important. With some knowledge in digital compositing, it can be recreated in any video software capable of transparency/blending modes. Please understand that I can't explain every single basic step. Believe me: it's easy to do, it's just a lot of work and you have to be precise - that's all.
