Seen Catfish in his early days Spilsby Thetre in UK. Come on fishy ! First album Catfish Blues, ACE ...Nice Couple (Keith n`Penny) Brilliant. Got me playing more x
This guy is absolutely stunning with his hard driven guitar and footstomping. In my opinion there is only Roy Rogers that can compare with the bluesfeeling he delivers.
@MsPillboxhat I just think that alot of the longer stuff the phrases are repeated to often and interest can wain.Im sure Keith knows whats right for him just my opinion. Thanks 4 posting.tc.
@ZEDZOR2 Thanks for your input. I'll let Catfish know your thoughts. I myself follow him into that groove and enjoy the ride. Thanks again for tuning in.
@MsPillboxhat I can c Keiths clearly a fine musician and theres certainly echos of Rory Gallagher about his playing and direction i also like his extra edge he puts on stuff which is refreshing.Im sure he will attain success in time no doubt.Regards.
Thanks! Making music is the only job Catfish has had, beginning as a teen. I began working w/ him full time in '92. We've been comfortably living, touring the world, doing what we love ever since. Our label has released 12 of his 13+ CD's, two nominated for WC Handy Awards for Best Acoustic Blues Album of the Year; he's been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame... I'd say he's a success, particularly in that he's kept & stuck w/ his own original musical vision, playing country blues no less!
@MsPillboxhat Yeh thats quite a list of achievements. To b honest ive never heard of him but im no expert, other than listening to blues and watching the players on utube i have no unique insight. In the last few years id say the level has risen as players swap ideas on utube and this can clearly b seen from the talent on offer here on utube.Good luck 2 uz.
Glad you tuned in. Are you a student of acoustic blues guitar? We don't spend much time looking at youtube, but I had posted a few videos on facebook from Catfish's UK/Europe tour last fall. Some people had asked me to put them on youtube, so I've posted 5 or 6 to date. Will put more on fb, and youtube, but we've been out of the country for the winter, and I'm awaiting some new technology before I can post more. If you're interested in more videos &/or concert info, check our fb pages. All best.
@MsPillboxhat Yeh Yeh im a blues student, utube is a great place to learn, loads of people share their blues secrets now were as 4 years ago no 1 shared nothing(thats recession 4 u).Most of my skills ive learned from Keni Lee Burgess and Delta 'ininokor' Lou but im still a novice these guys can play though.Keni Lee had lessons from Bob Brozman,Woody Mann,Stephan Grossman and Delta Lou id say is the best Delta Blues player on the planet.Check these guys out,if ur playing Glasgow let me know.t.c.
Catfish will be at The Ferry (formerly Renfrew Ferry) in Glasgow on Oct. 16 this year. Not sure whether tickets are on sale yet or not. Tour dates & links for tix are on Catfish's website. Yes, we know Bob & Woody very well. Catfish & Bob are two of National Reso-Phonic Guitars' main endorsers. Catfish's first album (1988) was on Stephan's Kicking Mule label. Don't know of Delta Lou; maybe I've heard of Keni Lee Burgess; I believe he's a guitar player from the UK. Cheers for now
@MsPillboxhat Guess i will c uz at the Renfrew Ferry in October, looking forward to it.Keni Lee Burgess is from New Jersey in the US,yeh ive heard of Kicking Mule.Delta Lous just a young guy in his 20s you should really check out his Robert Johnson covers etc,his playing is very percusive.I happened upon uz because of Keiths version of 'Jitterbug Swing',Keni Lee does a version too.Take care y'all great to have made ur aquaintance.
@flyfifer51 Thank you, Kenny! Catfish does not use pedals. The pickups in all his guitars (Nationals & wood-bodied non-Nationals) are Highlander pickups. We've been extremely happy with them. We also use a mic, and mix the two together which works well for getting the sound we desire.

Cool playing. 3minutes is better than the longer stuff.

@ZEDZOR2 Glad you like. I myself like the longer pieces when they go so deep and are played so fine.
