Beautiful building. After seeing this video it inspired me to look up more info on this building. I've been to NYC many times but never seen this one. I love architecture and there's such a great variety in the NYC. Anyway thanks for the upload, very nicely made video, also love the choice of music.
Great building. Believe it or not, this building was almost demolished in 1970s, it was then designated a national landmark in 1976 and saved. It was completely renovated, cleaned and repaired in 1987. Its one of the few building in NYC where both the exterior and interior are protected under landmark status.
NYC was notorious for destroying its landmarks. Until the the late 1970s the preservation board in NY was a joke. Both the Chrysler building and Grand Central Terminal were also going to be demolished at one point. Sounds unbelievable I know, but this is the same city that allowed both the Singer Building and Old Penn Station to be knocked down. Today it would never be allowed. Many older buildings in NYC are given landmark status today just for protection against greedy developers .
It is incredible to think that even Grand Central station could have been demoished. But I remember watching a TV programme on its refrubishment and it was in terrible condition. I've only been in New York a couple of times, but the buildings there are great. The only thing is you get a crick in your neck trying to look up at them!
they should replace this terrible building into some awsome shit like the gugenheim LOL jk

It is amazing to think that this building might have been demolished. They have done a great job refurbishing it.

It reminds me of the India Building in Liverpool Water Street

I know that building and it is similar. Both buildings must be from the same period.
