  • I think that stratigic wins are almost always logistics based. Battles may be based on individual bravery and Initiative but wars are won on logistics. Such as the PBY patrol in the Aleutions. Then a trained enginering crew ready to analize the Zero. Aircraft enginers recieve and react to this information. And so on, to trained pilots and machanics on aircraft carriers on the far side of the pacfic with a support fleet. In 8 months. That will win a war.

  • So what the pilot is saying is the Hell cat had the best kill ratio to date. They had the best plane of the pacific.

  • Boy, I sure would've loved to been in a Hellcat shooting down the Jap Zeros!

  • that is how USA won the war in the Pacific..Best planes, best pilots and best equiptments overall..To those who claimed that Zero is the best, Sayonara!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • correct and they are also made by the same company Grumman (now Northrup Grumman Aerospace)

  • i believe the F-15's kill ratio is about 105 to 0. Am I wrong?

  • @stormyk6 you're bang on right, but all those kills weren't all in the same conflict or for the same air force.

  • Look, stop arguing kill ratios if you don't understand how it works! A kill ratio is determined by how many aircraft are shot down by a specific aircraft during a specific war! American f-14's shot down 20 aircraft AT BEST over their entire lifetime, American F-15's 30 AT BEST!!! Neither Aircraft has a kill ratio for any war fought by the US greater that 5-1! During the TRUK fight the ratio for the Hellcat was 25-1!!!

  • @petis1976 yes mbut the hellcat was nt used against the luffe waffen and of corse there are lots of factors you like the hell cat i like the thunder bolt i also love the mustang but from what i can tell the air frame of the p47 when it came into beening there was truley like it and it was the first trulley ground assult fighter than the allies had and it also could duke it out with the best of them fast big and carried alot of arms thats why it was the most expencive plane in ww2

  • in dogfights they don't ask the enemi if he wants to surrend , so they kill him simply

  • Brewster Buffalo in the hands of finns did 32:1 against soviets. Commie pilots were often inexperienced and readily almost scared to death. Impressive though.

  • @msumungo just like I told the other guy who talked about the Buffalo, It sucked thats why we sold them, and nearly all the stats from the finns are unconfirmed!

  • @petis1976 Unconfirmed? Hardly. Check out the Wiki article references on finn stats if in doubt. Those references are generally pretty undisputed. Also the finns themselves said that in the beginning it was easy to take down the commies. After a while it turned out to be a hell with Buffalo alone.

Listen, I'm not looking down The Jug or the honorable Ace who talked about WW2 Pacific Ocean against japs. How could I? It's about something else I think you should acknowledge as well. Cheers, pal!

  • @msumungo Sheesh, not the Jug (Thunderbolt) but the F6F Hellcat of course. My bad.

  • Every time I watch dogfights I feel like getting on My Ace Combat 4/5/0 or Blazing Angels and do some dogfighting as well! ^_^

  • Nice to hear it said - "Japanese Air Power was dead, and the Hellcat, was the Executioner". Not the Corsair, the fanboi special which didn't get it's shit together until it was time for clean up detail. (just like the Mustang, coming in after the Thunderbolt faced down a still strong Luftwaffe)

  • @usquanigo the p51 was a great plane and did very well and that always overshadows the truly greatest fighter of the european theater: the thunderbolt. I agree with you 100%

  • @jdmess14hc the thunder botl was the best plane of the entire war ,,, it was also used in the pacific as bombe escort and high altatude movements ,,, great air frame ,,, gaugetests after the war recorded upto 725 mph dives ,,, for the day thats fast and ofcorse it take a beating and take you home ,,, it shot down more german planes than all the others combined

  • @lesterclaypool1 The Jug was a great aircraft but it took great pilots to fly it to equal the ability of the mustang with an average pilot.

  • @petis1976 im not saying that the mustang was nt good , it was great ,,, just go read about the thunder bolt before you dismiss it ,,,,

  • I love the hellcats.

    one of my favorite planes

  • @avatar2350 love em too, P51 still my all time favorite. Cant help it.

  • I would like to see you in equal conditions. Maybe you will lost.

  • During the first Gulf War, I was at my father's house and wondered what the WWII pilots felt like seeing modern jet jockeys kill from 70 miles. The phone rang and it was one of the few who could tell me. Mel Malone, a pilot of an F6F-3N nightfighter, was calling Pop, who was duty officer for VF-81 on the Wasp. I put the question to him.

"Take 'em anyway you can get them" he replied. They are just glad it is the bogies going down regardless of the distance.

    Jock Ellis

  • French Navy used the Hellcat still on Suez Crisis at 1956.

  • So he shoots down 3 Japanese fighters who are trying to dive away in a row? Gotta love these mooks.

  • For God´s sake... as wide as the sky is and in this series planes almost always HAVE TO fly pass a camera making it shake... I find it soooo boring and tiring... Who´s obssessed with this stupid custom that has become like a tradition in this series: pilots or the camera? Or is it an arrangement between them both?

  • I like this series.

  • & waiting dow below to pick up the downed American pilots? The Wahoo ;-).

I wonder why the zeros were trying to evade by diving? The Zero had a compressability problem in high speed dives.

  • Ooops, too much history, read. Make that Dick O'kane's Tang.

The Zeke had compressablitiy problems @>200knots.

  • F6F HellCats rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And better tactic's and training.

  • hahaha!!! ahhh, denial...how cute. F-15 kill ratio of 107:0 and F-14 ratio of 146:1 all on soviet aircraft. Sounds like mig killers to me.

  • To my view, it´s useless talking about killing ratios for modern jets: it´s just a boring matter of launching misiles to targets that are miles away and that´s it. It doesn´t matter what jet we´re talking about; the results are all (practically) the same. The merit of modern jet combats is nowhere to my view.

As I see it, a true fighter pilot is that who points his plane to an enemy one, manouvring and using his guns, not misiles. Planes up to WWII were like elongations of their pilots.

  • @AlanMartinNala As far as what you said about being a true fighter pilot, I agree. But like you said, things are not this way anymore. Although we train to dogfight constantly, the odds of us ever having to do it are rare. Rare, but still good enough for us to keep the stick game up. Kill ratios are a testament to: A. pilot training and B. warefare technology. Just like a boxer's record, the more wins and the less losses, the better.

  • @furiouswings yeah against stupid syrians and egypts who couldnt fly

  • @Sallytheg4y Stupid syrian and egyptians that I'm sure are better pilots than you.

  • @furiouswings I am honored to receive furiousrage

  • @furiouswings you mean sovietmade aircraft, not soviet aircraft ^^

  • @furiouswings thou most of them were turkey shoots against poorly equipped and trained airforces possibly using monkey-model MiGs... so it'll be prudent not to get too complacent.

  • @rexregum

Oh yeah? Like the Russian pilots flying MiG 21s in Vietnam vs. the Phantoms? Those are inexperienced pilots flying "monkey migs" you refer to? We wiped the floor with them in the air war. Get real you fool, our record is proven.

  • @furiouswings Two best fighters in my opinion. F/A-18 is okay but doesn't have the balls that the Tomcat had and the Eagle has.

  • You are either reaming, or lying. The Mig15 & 17 were good (w/stolen Rolls Royce jet engines). The 21 was capable. The 25 was an overweight slug. The Mig 29, & Su-27 are good, but lack sophisticated electronics. Which is more than half the battle nowadays. When the jews went into Syria to hit that Korean nuke plant. All jets/SAMs were taken out immediately. W/O good electronics, they simply can't compete. Feel free to keep deluding yourself though, ali...

  • USN Hell Yeah!!!

  • USAF - Fu*k Yeah!!!

  • Can somebody put up the Night fighters and Mig killers episode please.

  • They are on here somewhere...or atleast were cuz ive watched em both a few times

  • luke65059 used to have them but he's been suspended.

he had tons of dogfights vids.

  • oh yeah night fighters is the one im looking for!!
