@JoshhLyons I'm not sure of the exact details but those chains basically made sure the bomb vest stayed on him via the padlocks. He needed the bolt cutters to break the two locks off so the chains could come loose, allowing the guy to take off the vest.

This shows you americans that although you may hate iraqis and afghanis for being "terrorists", most of the time, it isn't their fault e.g their family has been kidnapped and the only way they will live is to join a terrorist organization. It's sad, but it happens across the globe.

It's silly that you fart out conjecture about the reasons a person becomes a suicide bomber just because you watched this scene from a movie. It doesn't show us Americans anything except for some exciting Hollywood drama. Most members of terror groups probably aren't forced to join because that group has kidnapped a family member. @TobiasTunkler You would be surprise of how many situations like this actually happen if you belive thats true. There are many instances were people are forced to do things like this. In my 2nd tour in iraq there was a woman who was iapart of an IED cell who had other iraqi women raped and she convinced the only way to bring "honnor " back to her family was to carry out a suicide mission, We had 15 suicide bombings in my sector ( all women) as a result ,so yes it does happen
