The fish was funny. As a fish, Sam would be able to leap out of the bowl and help, since he'd have legs and could breath out of water. And, as a fish, I guess the bowl would suddenly break due to his humongous legs and all the other fish would die. Well...their was some talk about having Sam leap into Magnum PI, and a cartoon or comic type world. If the show had gone on for more seasons, the network apparently wanted a new, young 'cool' side kick. I think 'Running for Honors' went through lots of major revisions in the script.
