I met with contractors from several PMCs while in country and they were consumate professionals as well as humane to the local population. The U.S. military is not perfect either, and some troops have gotten themselves in trouble for warcrimes, but they get punished for it like they deserve. I am guessing that you are referring to money when you say US resources. In that case, these resources can be used to pay former military special operators working as contractors with private paramilitary/security companies or that same money can be used to conscript 18-25 year old American males. I think it is a lesser of two evils to send in the highly paid private riflemen versus reinstating a draft. If BHO gets elected, then everyone is gonna come home in the next 48 months anyway.

When he talks about Bush not being able to get an "army of the willing", I think it should be taken into account that our military is a conventional war machine meant to defeat other war machines, not a giant counter-insurgency force as it is being used today. If you watch the erik prince interview on CNN, he talks about how a conventional war machine has a hard time rebuilding a country and fighting insurgency, and private companies can help to do that job more efficiently in small parts

they are not mercenaries. they are security contractors. its nothing new we have been around for a long time. we are the ones who make sure pussies like you can work with out fear or at least do what ever you do with out having to take care of yourself. security contractors do not take part in offensive operations. we work strictly in defence. as far as asking god, i bet you have to pass the scrutiny of his security contractors before you get close enough to talk to him directly.

I met with contractors from several PMCs while in country and they were consumate professionals as well as humane to the local population. They reacted only to overt hostility and used deadly force as a last resort. Any shooting episodes were few and far between. It is cowardly to critique them from the living room sofa. Shoulder a weapon, work a convoy, or stand a security watch before you go waving your self-righteous banner.

wasn't hired on as an extra. Me and my Navy friends did it for free. We visited universal in our uniforms and got to watch them film a few senes. We asked if we could be extra's and they said why not.

It is good criteria for rational thinking because it translates into experience. Experience tempers book smarts and allows a person to become that much more worldly. PMCs and military leaders are both professionals. Both want a minimum of damage to personnel, equipment and non-combatants, so both are concerned with a bottom line as well as the butcher's block. And Rothmiller, I don't pretend everyone is a hero. I acknowledge the noble majority that are largely ignored by the left-wing media.

It's a pleasant idea, this "noble majority". But having been in Afghanistan, the mercenary security teams I witnessed there were "bullies", to use a playground term. Bullies with machine guns. Maybe it's different elsewhere, but I doubt it. These guys in Iraq operate without government oversight. Soldiers are accountable.
I know amongst them, they create a fraternal bond, but it often translates to US against the (fill in the blank) Gooks, Towel Heads, Krauts, no matter the civilian damages.
