  • When I need to call tech support for my router oddly if an American pick up they know nothing the Indians almost always know the only time the Indians failed me is if its a women or a new *junior* technician

  • Once I had to call compac for tech support. He whispers and i couldn't understand him so i said to him to speak more loudly and he hung up.then looked up in YouTube and a guy help me delete the virus

  • ugghhh i had the same virius and the tech support was acting like complete jackasses to me so i told them to fuck off and hung up on them then i called staples and they asked me nicely to take the laptop to them so they can fix it it took alittle over a day for it to be fixed and they offered me a better virius protection for free which is really shocking to me but that same day right after i installed the thing two virius tried to infect but they were stopped dead in their tracks :) yay :P lol

    Anyway, I had some problems with Norton a while back, the warranty ran out when it shouldn't have, and I contacted tech support. It was an Indian guy, too, and here's what he did: he took control of my computer and gave me the full version of Norton 2009, even though the one I was having trouble with was Norton 2008. That was pretty cool of him.

  • Does Tech Support also fix game consoles? Cause my PS3 died on me about a month ago and a friend of mine told me that one of his friend's 360 died and he called Tech Support and they fixed it, but I just want to know for sure.

  • @mistoryman953 You would have to call the tech support for Sony about your PS3. Sony if I remember correctly is the company that makes PS3's so they should have a tech support number on the back of the PS3's box or on their website or something.

  • That sucks. I had to do the same thing to my labtop. I ended up buying two discs what made it brand new, bad news is it erases all my data. Now its doing fine...yet.

  • im just 11 and i tryied calling them and i got some guy (i think he was asin) and he told me to download a bunch of crap and then after i got done downloading 3 thing he told me to use them all when i did the 1st one MY PC CRASHED!!! i told him and he said i messed it up and hung up! so i ad to get a new pc!

  • That happened to my friend! She was doing college on the computer and she called tech support and the guy on the other end had a really thick accent and she couldn't understand him and started crying. Tech support is SO worthless.

  • I'm glad that you got your computer fix. Virus is one pain in the ass when it affect your computer. My mom didn't like calling tech, because they are hard to understand what they are saying or they just not helpful. I remember we used to have Belkin router, it always goes off like completely. When we have AT&T router, it always turn red whenever our phone ringing which is interferring the router's signal, I had wait about either 3 or longer to get back on the internet.

    My mom hates calling tech support too. Mostly because they take forever to pick the phone up and ends up killing the phones battery since we all use cell phones now.

    But she knows it has to be done or else the warranty will be broke if we try to fix it ourselves. It was insane when my laptops hard drive crashed and needed to be replaced.

  • Heh. I used didn't know how to get rid Norton Antivirus and it was provided by Yahoo and AT&T tech downloaded it from Yahoo. Unfortunately, that antivirus only last about a year before it was expires because Symantic no longer work with Yahoo or something. So I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it, yet it's not list in add/remove program until my friend showed me a link to computer forum where they saying the only way to get of it is go to Symantic's website and download removal tool.....

  • Sorry to repost it again. Anyway, I had download that removal tool to get rid of Norton antivirus. It's lame -_-

  • It's amazimg how true those Fomay the squierrl cartoons are ture about tech support. I know everytime my Mom has called Tech Support, it's always a guy with an Indian accent who's no help what so ever.

  • Well I wouldn't go and say all Indian tech support people are no help. Like everything else there's good and bad.

  • Actually, I was just saying that seems to happen everytime, and sometimes I do fine myself wondering why that is? I'm sure there are helpful ones, but they seem to be really hard to find.

  • Get AVG Free. Run scan. Then get malware antimalware bytes, then spybot. It should work. And keep AVG.

  • Tech support can be hit or miss depending on what the problem can be on your computer. If I remember correctly, I believe they are reading from a book or something. An old friend of mine told me and another friend about that. My computer just got a virus about a couple of days ago and at first I thought it was a Windows Update cause of the shield symbol that Windows uses. I then noticed that my computer had gotten a virus and it disabled my virus protection as well.

  • The interesting thing is that I did some research on how to remove it and one of it was to download a software called SpyHunter where I can remove it so I used my dad's laptop and when I went to my main computer, I couldn't install it. This happened three or four times. Then I also read where you can remove it manually, and the instructions weren't no help cause my search wasn't around on my computer at all.

  • I even went to Program Files, and I found the folder that had this false malware program and there were no files in there as well. I also deleted the folder and the shortcuts as well to be on the safe side, and the problem is still there. Since the computer is at least six years old, I plan on getting a new computer. It's also about time to get a new computer so I'm going to find a good computer where I can still create my animations and music.

  • Before we called tech support I did the same thing. I was looking up information about the virus to try and remove it myself. Only problem was I could never find the files and folders that belonged to the virus.

    When I did that scan the lady told me to do all the files and folders that belonged to the virus came up during the scan.

    And yeah I heard from someone else that those tech people are reading from a book.

  • What software did she use? I remember I had a similar problem a long time ago and we used Spybot and that worked great. I was going to use it again, but I figured that I get a new computer cause the other one is at least six years old and it's been having a few problems before the virus such as the sound going out as well.

  • I have to say though, it's funny how some instructions don't specifically tell you how to spot the files, they just tell you what files to remove.

  • Well a lot of people posting said that chances are you wouldn't be able to find them since the files and folders for the virus were active. I don't know if that's true or not.

  • Here's one experience I had with tech support:

    My router wasn't working so we called tech support and they said that they'll send a new router. So when we got it and set it up, that one wasn't also working.  So while everyone was asleep, I was tinkering with the router and noticed that the problem was the power adapter.

    After some experimenting, I actually got it fixed. One problem: the company wanted the old router back, despite that there was no problem with it; just the power adapter.

  • Thank god my family never had that problem with our router. We only had problems finding the password along with the code for me to play games over WiFi.

  • I switch around between AOL and Firefox. I use Firefox when AOL decides to be annoying and slow.

  • Hmm, does AOL have any kind of security on it (like firefox does)? That might have been one of the problems :P

  • It has spam and pop up blocker along with spyware protection.

    I read that this virus is pretty common. At least with it on my computer I was still able to get online, which the tech lady was very surprised about. But she said had I not called it would have really messed the computer up.

  • Well, that explains one of your problems. AOL is the worst browser imaginable. It's worse than even IE. Their "security" is a joke and some tech websites go so far as to list it as malware. They upload crap to people's computers, even without their permission.

    I'd recommend getting rid of it post-haste.

  • malewarebytes? i used that to purge a virus that infected the computer system in my entire high school. its a good free program

  • Yeah I know.

    When I looked up information on the virus infecting my computer it came up several times in peoples forum posts to download it. But since I'm nervous about downloading any program related to viruses due to so many fake virus programs out there I didn't download it.
