See my last comment - Yes that is of course the problem with common names - the Americans call this shark zebra shark, but most of the rest of the world calls them leopard sharks. Look it up :-) and don't be rude.
it's sort of like the "sand tiger shark" i know it as the "Grey nurse" and you's know it as a "sand tiger" like how i also know "great whites" as "white pointers" they have many names.
@Dam1XxX they are called zebra sharks in some places because when they are born hey have full stripes, resembling a zebra. As they get older these stripes fade out, leaving the dots that you see as adults. There are many places other than USA that refer to them as zebra sharks.

@helweezy ur a fucking idiot, the whole doesn't follow ur stupidity, leopards have spots like the shark, unlike zebras which have stripes, its logic which is something u stupid americans struggle with
@bundabunbun again, when they are born, their dots are connected and actually have stripes for several months, and this is where they got their name on this part of the world. You have growing up to do. And as far as stupid Americans, we have most of the top ten prestegious universities in the world and a large majority of the rest of the world chooses to send their kids or themselves to get schooling here.

Sorry...not leopard sharks. These are Zebra sharks...look it up. Leopard sharks have larger spots and a different fin/tail arrangement. These Zebra sharks are named for the striped pattern of the juveniles. If yer gonna do a documentary, do yer homework people.
... however we do not condone the touching of these beautiful sharks - like everything else down there they are most happy left alone and just watched.
I do know what you are saying though and it is very hard with these to keep your hands to yourself.
My favourite place to dive! Those Leopard sharks are like puppies. They love a good petting. Had a dive buddy leave me 'cause I spent over an hour petting one that kept returning to me.
I am an aquarist at the waikiki aquarium.
It is a zebra shark, not a leopard shark.
Learn your stuff.
