With Vince Sr.'s marketing it is wrestler Incredible Hulk Hogan vs wrestler Ted Dibiase w/ the crowd not too emotionally involved. Old school NWA style booking focusing more on wrestling less on gimmicks. With Vince Jr. its the hero the Immortal Hulk Hogan vs the villain Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase with the crowd emotionally involved. New school booking focusing on gimmicks. Shows you how important Vince Jr.'s marketing is because without it Hulk Hogan and Ted Dibiase are just wrestlers.
at the time of this match, Dibiase was the WWWF North American Champion, Mid-South wrestling was aligned with the old National Wrestling Alliance, Bill Watts bought Mid-South from Leroy McGuirk then also bought the North American title along with Dibiase from Vince Mcmahon SR, the new mid-south had theirtop title and champ in Dibiase, Mid-South wrestling in the 80's is as legendary as ECW in the 90's, all you Jim Ross fans... he was originally a Mid South Referee
I don't believe I have ever seen these two wrestle each other before the Wrestlemania or Summerslam stuff of the later eighties. That was the first time I had ever seen Dibiase execute a flying dropkick against any opponent. It sure was strange hearing the crowd cheering for Dibiase and booing for Hogan. Great video!
you mean soap operas are better because trust me I know what goes on inside it all and it is all scripted I mean yes the end to the matches always have been but now even the interviews are scripted..
Hello, what DVD is this taken from? It comes with the current WWE logo, so it must be from a recent release. Is it on the Hulk Hogan Ultimate Collection or what?
This looks like a fantastic match! Do you know if this match is available on either DVD or VHS anywhere? I would love to get hold of this one! Truly old school wrestling action. Is the commentator Vince McMahon Jr.? So this was Hogan's first match at Madison Square Garden uh? A real treasure! Great match and video!
Man even the jobbers back then had way better ring psychology than the stuff you see today. Of course the jobber in this case was the great Ted Dibiase.

hard to believe Hogan used to get booos instead of cheers.

Good thing Dibiase kicked out of the leg drop. Although Hogan could have broken his leg and generated more heat.

@MrRapsa There is no more wrestling. Now its "sports entertainment" thanks to Vince McMahon & Hulk Hogan. This stuff today is embarrassing.

horrible wrestling from Hulk
loved Ted no selling THE LEG DROP hahahahaha
I wish Hogan had stayed a strong, cocky heel. We wouldn't have had Hulkamania and that would have been a good thing
daredevilpre 3 years ago
And later DiBiase would be the heel and Hogan the face. If we only knew then
