  • I believe there is a divine creator but the story of creation and many others to be found in the Bible have been bungled , distorted and misinterpreted with many errors by humans over time - and that is a fact. The Bible people read today is extremely corrupt - God knows it!

  • It’s so unfortunate that the truth of the Bible has been lost but as a believer in a divine creator I see the World and all creation and know that a designer planned and created - it’s too intelligent of a creation to have spanned from mere chemicals in the atmosphere - think?

  • Good to see you back around. While I don't necessarily agree with everything you say it does always make me think.

  • If a father is abusive and so is his son, does it always follow that the son's upbringing is to blame? Maybe it is a genetic predisposition to violence. Perhaps even if the son of the abusive father would have been raised by non violent adoptive parents, he would still become a violent adult. As for bible stories, I think that bible stories are there to teach a lesson. I don't think that most are literal. Think symbolically.

  • @Natashalulu

No, that does not always follow :)

But we humans are a bit "monkey see, money do", statistically the chances that son will become abusive to his own kids is much bigger then had he been brought up in a loving non-violent household, but indeed even coming from a loving peaceful family, he could still become abusive, sure, but that's less likely.

"I don't think that most are literal." , me neither, but i don't think there is that much to learn from it either ;)

    Thanks for sharing,

  • lol, for my upbringing I was spanked quite a bit. :/ My mom and step dad dictated what I should do and anything other than that was wrong or bad (having my own options that is 'different' to them). My mom was a strict christian and we always went to church, my step dad identifies himself as non religious but has his own theories on life.

God on a whole was a bad parent. He also was condescending with the brutal punishments and then the whole love thing too.

  • @araya1

I'm sorry to hear that, but i'm glad you're beautiful regardless :)

My parents never laid a finger on me, despite me having given the occasional reason to do so my dad's words always hit home with me and i try (and i think so far succeeded) in following that example.

Indeed it seems the "unconditional" part of god's love is "one way" only, we must love God unconditionally as he sure puts conditions by which god can "love" us back.

I guess i should not ask if i may spank you too ;p

  • @mindwis3 ;P

  • Hello, brother of mine :)

As for upbringing, I have learned from my father what not to do. Sort of reverse parenting, I guess.

As for Adam & Eve, god blamed them for listening to satan, another one of his genius creations. But, why allow your enemy to tempt your children? Satan rebelled in heaven and was cast down to the very planet where Adam & Eve would eventually live. But, god knew that his creation would not listen to him. So, why did he bother with his first disciplinary action in heaven?

  • @Lisa3679

    Hi Sis ;)

"But, god knew that his creation would not listen to him. So, why did he bother with his first disciplinary action in heaven?" ..

Indeed, i think in general Christians will pull the "free will" card on that one, not realizing free will does not work with a being that knows the future * (Some will say god can choose not to see the future, but that is actually irrelevant, if the future is knowable _at all_ then free will is out the door :)

    Kr,

  • @mindwis3 on your bit about "free will", just a random thought. I don't know if you ever read Dune, but in that when any of the characters "saw the future" what they really saw was all of the possibilities, not a single path. If that were the case, than being able to see the future, it is theoretically possible that in all possible futures, there would be rebellion, it would just take place at different points in time.

Regardless, purposely creating Satan does seem like a foolish choice.
